I purchased my first pair of Lucchese boots in Austin recently and am so happy with these boots, I wanted to visit one of the stores in San Antonio, the birthplace of Lucchese boots. The store was similar to the one in Austin but maybe a bit more of a selection. Right away I found alligator boots that are just amazing looking. The person helping us was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the boots. Unlike the other store I first visited, here they also had other clothing and in particular, their jeans. The jeans look nice enough to wear with a jacket for a nice event, but they also have casual jeans. I know these boots are a bit expensive, but they are never going to go out of style and they will last a lifetime. I think Lucchese boots are beauiful, and I though this location had them displayed really well (I thought I knew which ones I wanted to try on from some pre-visiting online shopping, but I tried on a few others when I saw them in person. I was definitely jealous of the men's side of the store (so many boot options!), but the women's section had some great boots, clothes, and accessories. I've been a Lucchese fan for quite awhile and have been shopping at the boutique at The Quarry in San Antonio for numerous years. While the staff there has always been as pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive as you would expect when shopping in a high end store, yet our experience there yesterday was outstanding. Our salesperson, ANTHONY, went above and beyond and was an example of everything you would want and expect from an upscale retailer such as Lucchese. We were promptly greeted by him when we arrived. He didn't hover, but did make himself readily available to assist. He knew the inventory well and made very constructive suggestions, understanding fully and finding just what I was looking for. He quickly tracked down what I wanted that was not in inventory at the time and made arrangements to obtain anything not in stock. I had expected it to ship out by the following business day, but my order continually just says "Ready to Ship." I've called multiple times--no one EVER answers. Beautiful store and the smell of the genuine leather was amazing. We wanted to buy our son his first pair of boots. We were browsing and never acknowledged or offered any help. Secondarily another couple was in the store and acknowledged and even offered water. Now we were dressed as tourists as we are on vacation but definitely can afford items in the store. We decided not to purchase and go to the King Ranch store as we were given superb service and in addition better pricing options. Today is my husband's birthday and I wanted to get him a new wallet to match a pair of his new Lucchese boots we just purchased. I was looking online last night and I saw they had a pretty good selection of men's wallets. I knew that if I ordered it online, it wouldn't be here by today. I asked if this location had a specific men's wallet on Yelp and was answered by very quickly by a manager. I went in to the store this morning to look at their selection of men's wallets. Although the color online vs the actual color of the wallet in person are two different colors (looked darker online) the one I chose looked good enough for me to purchase it. I'm confident he'll love it. This location is a very beautiful and clean location. I absolutely love the heavy doors at the entrance. Frank was who helped me look at different styles of wallets. I wish I could give zero stars. About 18 months ago I went to get custom fitted for a new pair of boots that cost about $2,000. They were supposed to be here in 4 to 6 weeks. Six months later they showed up but had been completely wrong sized (2 sizes off). They said sorry and sent them back. Four months later they came back, but still were too long and now too narrow. They got sent back. They lost them. For another four months. Then they sent them to the wrong store and lost them another month or so. When they showed up again they told me they used the wrong size again and would have to be redone again. (This isn't a slight mistake, they're a size and a half off). Evidently the order was misentered. At this point I asked for my money back and they refused. I will never do business with them again, and I would advise anyone thinking of getting a pair of custom boots to go anywhere else. They're the worst boot company I've ever dealt with and now I have to go deal with court just to get my money back. And I still don't have boots. read more

The Good: :: it's a boutique store for the Lucchese brand, which has been around i believe since 1880, so they've been making boots for a LONG time now and know what they are doing :: they have a variety of boots from different lines they carry :: all Lucchese Classics, Lucchese 2000 and Lucchese 1883 boots are made 100% in the USA. their factory is in El Paso, Texas. bonus!!! :: depending on the line of boot, some are partially handmade, some are entirely handmade :: the store people were really nice and patient and helpful :: they have accessories in their store, like hats, belts, and more The Bad: :: they can get busy here. be patient and their staff will find their way to you. :: not a huge selection of pearl-snap shirts for men or women. wish they offered more in terms of accessories and clothing, not just boots. :: not for the thrifty. boots start at the $250 range and can be in the thousands depending on the material and level of craftsmanship :: they are the only TX location for now. however, the employee told us that they were planning on opening boutiques in other TX cities. hopefully Austin is on that list?! I have about 10 pairs of Lucchese boots, some are great some are average. I ordered a new pair off their website in April. Upon arrival, they sent the wrong boots. I was going to wear the new boots on a trip in May so I reached out for a resolution. I didn't receive one so I decided to return the WRONG PAIR OF BOOTS they sent me. They agreed but one of their customer service agents said they would not refund the express shipping I paid. You send the WRONG PAIR and you want me to eat the cost of your mistake? After letting them know I was done with Lucchese they had a change of mind and decided in a less than gracious way that they would refund the full amount. A $500.00 pair of boots and you've alienated a good customer for life over $30.00? Fast forward, the return was accepted on May 6th and they told me the refund would be complete in 5 days. Well, nothing so far. I went ahead and filed a dispute with AmEx and soon afterwards received an email from Lucchese that the full amount was refunded... NOPE! I'm letting Amex deal with it as everything is documented in emails from Lucchese and FedEx. I am walking away from Lucchese because they don't seem to have their act together with customer service. read more

I walked into the store and mind you I may have not been dressed to their standards and maybe thought I could not afford to buy a pair of boots, but to not even greet me as I walked in is horrible. A sales person walked right in from of me and did not even asked if I needed help. I was the only person in the store and 4 salespersons available. $650 boots. Lucchese say water damage. Truth is they have dried up. These boots should last a lifetime, they should be made to protect your feet from the elements including water. Lucchese will do nothing about the problem, they would rather look after their Polo team than their customers. My Dan Post boots are 12 years old, they get wet, no problem. Believe it or not, I flew from Atlanta to San Antonio for the weekend, SPECIFICALLY to visit THIS Lucchese store! I had read wonderful things about the Lucchese brand, and I reasoned that in order to purchase my first pair of boots, going to the source would yield the best results. The Lucchese store in E. Basse Road in San Antonio is undeniably beautiful. The sales staff is, regrettably, PITIFUL. I think the so-called salesman's name was Robert, but he was so inattentive and indifferent, his name was unmemorable to me. The experience at the store was both forgettable and unforgettable. After about 10 minutes of being first greeted and then left twisting to my own fate, my wife and I walked out of the store. We quickly Googled an alternative boot store in San Antonio so as not to waste the whole weekend trip. Fortunately, Cavender's wasn't too far away. At Cavender's were were greeted by a warm, friendly and attentive sales staff. Within the hour, I walked out with my boots! My $.02... Spare yourself the trip to the GORGEOUS Lucchese Store... There are actually three Lucchese Stores. This one in San Antonio, one in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the factory store in El Paso Texas. If you are looking for boots made for your exact foot measurements your one and only choice is the El Paso Factory Store. El Paso is also the place to got for bargain "seconds". I got a great education at the San Antonio from Carlos who is a master at fitting cowboy boots and an oracle of knowledge. The "Classic" line is the best and the only one Lucchese will replace the sole on. When Lucchese replaces the sole they basically rebuild the boot. If you watch the excellent http://www.lucchese.com/legend_video.php you will understand how the boots are made. When they rebuild your boots the use the factory "Twisted Cone Last" which is the foot shape the leather is built around. They remove and replace everything on the bottom including the heel, instep and sole. They only way resoled boots will fit like new is if the are resoled on the factory last and only Lucchese offers that service and only to classic owners. This is a long way of saying if you plan to own the boots through more than one pair of soles your only good option is to buy the classic line. Third party resoling often results in a narrow fit and will never equal the factory fit. I have big hard to fit feet and Carlos was super helpful. He had three pairs of boots for my 13.5EE feet which is a size almost nobody makes. The roper I wanted that did fit like a glove was very tight to pull on. The factory store will stretch the throat of the shaft at no charge. This is a "boot" store with an amazing selection of the best quality cowboy boots available. There is also a decent selection of belts and not much else which is fine with me. The staff are great, ask lots of questions, let them know what you want. They will treat you as you would want to be treated, in the best boot store in the world. I detoured to San Antonio while driving from Dallas to Houston just to visit the store and it was worth it. read more

It is very rare that I feel the need to write a review containing something like this, especially since it is something that I very rarely run into. However, I feel that it is important to mention for other customers to either prove, or prove wrong. Lucchese is a well-crafted, extraordinary boot brand name. When customers are willing to spend anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars on a product, out of this world customer service is almost an expectation, and should not be provided at any lower of a level. Today, I watched the salesperson at this Lucchese branch politely say hello to my fiancé, then ignore him as he browsed the store; mind you, he was wearing custom handmade elephant-hide boots at the time that cost as much as the ones he was browsing through. After him, several different customers walked in and were greeted with smiles and offers for assistance or explanations of the different types of boots they carried. My fiancé, looking to buy, was still left unattended. Two of the other men assisted explained that they were simply browsing while their wives shopped in the Quarry stores. The salesperson continued to talk with them anyway. My fiancé, feeling the vibe, decided to leave and purchase a pair of caiman and a pair of ostrich boots at Shepler's later that day instead. I rarely identify this, but I see that the service--well, lack of--that he received today was racial profiling. Hopefully this was an accident, and not the usual occurrence at this Lucchese branch. In any case, Shepler's was much more helpful, friendly, and able to land two easy sales at once! My rating system: 5 stars= Driving across town just for this! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning. read more

Lucchese is the most horrible company to deal with! I ordered my dad a pair of boots for Christmas on Dec. 8th. After a week and no updates I contacted the company for an update with the response of "our warehouse is a little behind but you will receive a FedEx tracking # once your order has shipped". I waited and ended up contacting the company numerous times with the same response. I called the company early afternoon on Dec. 17th to be told that the order would have to be cancelled as the product is not in stock. I was livid as this was $500+ and was the only thing under the tree for my Father. It is a week until Christmas and numerous calls later.....the lady said thank you for your patience???? What a pleasure it is to shop here. This is one of only two Lucchese company-owned stores in the US (the other being in Santa Fe, NM). Lucchese (pronounced 'Lou Casey') is the best retail cowboy boot brand in the land, and one of the oldest. Sales Associates will measure your feet to obtain a truly custom fit, and then order the boots to be made to your specifications. (My feet are wide with a high arch - and Lucchese can accommodate even my unusual feet.) But be forewarned, their product is in such demand, there is a two to three month backlog before your new boots arrive. (The wait will likely be longer towards Christmas). Of course they have boots right off the shelf, but why not indulge your creativity and design a pair that are exactly you? Patrons can select different materials, heels, toes, and even bring in a design of your own if you are feeling really bold. Life is short; be bold. The only slight negative was that the help was a little uneven in their training. Ask for Carlos, he is very knowledgeable and will treat you right. read more

I wasn't aware of all of the history behind the Lucchese brand, but it is easily the highest quality you can get, and who can beat boots that are handmade to fit your feet? In addition to this, the in-store experience can be compared to Nordstrom in the sense that the Sales reps will ensure that you are completely satisfied with your purchase throughout the entire process (a handcrafted pair of boots will take a few weeks to be made from purchase date). Despite the higher price associated with the excellent product and service, I sincerely recommend that you purchase your next pair of boots from Lucchese.
