This Luby's has been around for quite some time in this town. I used to frequent it often with my parents and used to get a kids plate here, so this place holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Compared to other the other Luby's that used to be in our town, this place still remains open, and I think it's because their food does taste more homemade, even thought they probably have the same recipe and guidelines as the other ones. I always get their blackened tilapia or fried fish, which comes eith their tartar sauce. I love their tartar sauce! It is my favorite, and I think it's what makes the fish taste even better. I also get the fried okra, mashed potatoes, and corn sides. The meal also comes with a bread of your choice. The portions are just right, and I think for everything included in the meal, the price is affordable. The staff is also super nice generally. Overall, I think this specific Luby's provides a good standard meal that has the feels of being homemade for a good price. read more

Every year I order a Cajun turkey from another company. This year we ordered a deep fried turkey for thanksgiving from Lubys!!!! OMG was I IMPRESSED! Probably one of the ABSOLUTE BEST we have had! Tons of compliments not to mention already cooked and SUPER EASY to reheat! If I could give 10 stars I most definitely would! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 12/18/2023 lunch time It's inconsistent- most times the food is good & sometimes not so good. If you see the liver burn't around the edges, turn around and go somewhere else. Also the cabbage and spinach were not seasoned. I hear it's good when the manager cooks, maybe they need to look over the cooks, for more quality control. This has happened. a few times in the past few months. Please post when the good cooks are working. read more

I went to eat today around 12pm, all the servers was standing waiting on customers so not busy at all, once I paid and went to my table the food was just warm being it was the start of lunch and maybe 4 other guests were present, I went to the restroom and OMG it was the nastiest facility at an restaurant that I ever encountered, I went use the restroom and found the toilets and sinks to be disgusting the toilets inside and out are ridiculously nasty, there is mold and waste stuck inside the toilet rim, sinks was never cleaned especially that day or that week or longer as it seems, I will never go back, I don't know who is running it but it a bad reflection not only on management but all staff associated, that facility need to close down because the quality of the food has diminished tremendously along with cleanliness and sanitation, it has really fell off. read more

GREAT experience. This is my go to place for some good ole home cooking type of food. Whatever city I'm in, Luby's never lets me down. This place in particular impressed me being that even though it seems old, the inside is well presented. The staff are courteous and polite. They are always ready to serve and help at beck and call. The food is good. Compliments to the staff in the kitchen! I do recommend this place for a quick dinner or a lunch out with friends. Luby's Port Arthur has some very rude servers. This one server in particular, has a very shrill voice and has a habit of raising her voice to diners. I asked her, "Do you serve dressing with the chicken?" She accused me of being rude and inconsiderate. I said, "Lady, I'm asking a simple question." That is all I said. I've noticed that several of their personnel have limited social skills when dealing with customers. Well, I walked out. I don't see Luby's staying open for long. Cabbage is too tough to eat.....and they get really pissed when you say the cabbage is too tough. The beans are too salty, the new potatoes are over a week old and show it. The rice tends to be crunchy and the potatoes lumpy, Luby's seems to be practicing how to lose customers and go out of business. Never again. read more

I rate the Port Arthur Luby's on HWY 365 - An average of 2-3 stars It's inconsistent- sometimes the food is good & sometimes not so good. Very often the reason being is the food is way too salty. Over the years Ive complained to different managers about the salt only to get lip service about how they always follow specific recipes. It's not unusual for the liver to be cold & Ive had to send it back for reheating. When it's returned it has had water poured on it & it's now unappetizing. A once fav of mine I now only order when feeling optimistic. I have also stopped trying to order salads because no one is EVER available to serve it. We eat out 2-3 times a week. I am not a picky eater. 99% of the time I generally eat what's in front of me without complaint; but Luby's is no longer a regular stop for us. read more

This isn't the "old" Luby's that I grew up loving. Lots has changed, not all for the better. Prices are higher, no more drink cart cruising between the tables, etc. But, the food is still good. I had fried fish, mashed potatoes and corn, and it was as good as ever. My one beef with my meal is, and has been for decades, the corn is NEVER hot. My wife had roast beef and loved it. I snagged a bite, and agreed. It was delicious. Luby's isn't a regular stop for us, but after tonight, we may become more regular. read more

It's an average Luby's.. though it seems that the quality and consistency of the menu has gone down over the years since the Landry's Corporation took it over. The staff is always friendly and nice, no change there, but the food is getting more limited in dining options and sometimes lacks its original Luby's flavor and seasoning that you grew up to like. This cafeteria might have gotten a higher rating except for the fact that the service was so SLOW. It took almost 15 minutes for our takeout order to be taken by the cashier. That is terrible!!!! The food was, for the most part, tasty. It was, however, overpriced. There is NO VALUE to be found here. $25.00 for 2 meals is NOT value.... Just sayin'. I sure hope there was someone who could help out when there are takeout customers. Either do that, or light a fire under the tail of the person manning that station.... Luby's will get one more chance to make up for this disappointing experience; if there is no improvement, I'll write them off for good. read more
