The natural grass was hard to maintain, since the sprinklers were not functioning properly, but the artificial lawn has vastly improved the curb appeal of our father's property. Without increasing estimated costs, Green Planet Landscaping surprised us with an additional amenity that actually rectified an issue raised by the local HOA. Thus, we are 110 percent satisfied with their service. Inasmuch as I live several hours away from Brentwood and Discovery Bay, I did not have the pleasure of meeting Alan in person. However, our communications were very effective and I am delighted to have completed this task as our father's Power-of-Attorney.

After living in our home for a year, it was time to redesign our backyard. I submitted a price quote request on Yelp and received a few responses to schedule a consultation. After meeting with other landscape companies, my choice was to go with Alan at Green Planet Landscape. It wasn't just about the price quote, but Alan's thoughtful ideas and recommendation made us trust him even more with the project. He would make sure our backyard would look amazing and presentable. He drew a sketch design for us to submit to the HOA. After we got an approval from the HOA for the project, Alan scheduled us within a few days. Alan first introduced me to Angel to have him do a walkthrough around the backyard. We had them install stone walls, pavers, artificial turf, and planter beds. The project lasted about 3 days and they did a fantastic job on transforming our backyard. My wife is so in love with plants and was very happy they planted her plants in the soil. Our dogs were so excited and love playing on the turf. I would highly recommend Green Planet Landscape. We finally are comfortable to contact them in the near future.

My husband hired them to put in a barbecue area in our backyard and pavers with trees in the front of our house. Then he suggested adding on some plants by our master bedroom window and behind the barbecue area. That's where the trouble began. All work was approved in August. We decided on honeysuckles on trellises and camellias. The work for the barbecue area and the front of the house went well and on schedule. The area behind the barbecue area and by the master bedroom were not completed. It kept getting put off. The job was started in August and was not finished until the following April. Excuses included that the plants were not available at the nursery that they use. That actually was a bit of a relief since they wanted to plant them in January and I was afraid that they would freeze. Then March rolls around and I ask if we could go to the nursery that they use and pick out the honeysuckles and camellias. There was not much to pick from, but we decided on coral honeysuckle for behind the barbecue area and purple honeysuckle and two white camellias for the master bedroom area. Unfortunately, the only white camellias available were on trellises. I told my husband that it might cause a problem, but if they asked for more money that would be perfectly fine. Unfortunately, no one spoke to us about it. Their answer to the problem was simply to leave out the trellises for the honeysuckles. Now we have honeysuckles that are planted too far from the fence with no trellises. This company is either lacking in communication with customers or does not have enough experience with smaller plants. I recommend them for stonework, paving, and tree planting, but not for smaller plants. Their pricing is very reasonable. Just be sure that they understand what is important to you for example trellises. Also be sure that they don't do any planting in January when your plants are liable to freeze. Better yet just stick to the stonework and paving. They are great at that!

From the moment I reached out to Pat, we connected right away. He is incredibly knowledgeable about landscape design, layout, and all things plants. He really helped us see what was possible. Pat then introduced us to Ricardo, who is the expert in hardscape, mechanical work, and overall execution. Ricardo and his team worked tirelessly to demo our backyard. Once it was cleared, we finally saw how much usable space we truly had -- and we even uncovered a view! We were so pleased with the entire process -- from design to execution -- and absolutely love the end result. Working with Pat and Ricardo was seamless, professional, and collaborative. His attention to detail and getting things right even when it added to his labor and material costs was appreciated. I called and spoke with Randeep, who scheduled me within 2 days with an irrigation specialist. I had an appointment this past Wednesday for Danny to come by and take a look at the leak. Not only did Danny fix the leak, he replaced the valve completely with newer, more up to date parts as my home is 20+ years old. After addressing the original issue, he noticed that two of my sprinklers were not functioning and replaced them, even without me asking! Wow! He then recommended that I replace my sprinkler timer as well, since it was also an older/outdated model. I purchased a new timer, in which he took the time to walk me through step by step to make sure I understood how to use the timer and make necessary adjustments and also made sure to go through the schedule not once, but twice to ensure I was satisfied with the watering schedule and overall water flow. During the walkthrough, I noticed there was a huge leak coming from a drip line in my backyard that caused a puddle in my lawn. He explained that the leak in the drip line may have been caused my running it over with a lawnmower or by me accidentally hitting the line with a weed wacker. I asked Danny how much it would cost for him to fix the leak, and he said, "This is such an easy fix, I'm almost positive you can fix it on your own." He then recommended the parts I needed to fix the leak, and sure enough, I was able to fix it on my own! He made sure to keep in contact with me while I went to Home Depot to make sure I bought the right parts. Danny went above and beyond and provided exceptional service! He was patient, honest, kind, and very knowledgeable, which is a true reflection of the company. Nowadays, it's hard to find a trustworthy company that won't take advantage of you! I wanted to believe that they will fix the issue that I hired them to fix but all I got was more headaches and I'm out $1510 with even more issues. TLDR: Do not hire this company. Their prices may be reasonable but their work is subpar and competence questionable. They will cut corners, take your money, and smile in your face knowing they don't plan on doing the work you hired them to do. I'm embarrassed to say that I was duped by Jonathan and Jose. I recently hired someone else to fix their subpar work. I will be out even more money but lesson learned. Longer version- I hired Jonathan and Jose to add 2 additional zones to my irrigation system to help with the low water pressure that resulted in too many of my plants being on the same zone. In connection with adding the new zones, they would need to install a small box to house the valves for the new zones as well as a water shutoff valve which would also be housed in a box. I also asked them to check whether one of my existing valves was leaking because there was a lot of water in the valve box. They started the work as scheduled and it took them about 2 days to "complete it." First issue - after they installed the new valves, the boxes for the valves and the new water shutoff valve were sinking. They were not sturdy and water had pooled inside them. After I reached back out to them telling them about these issues, they returned to supposedly fix them. I didn't have time to check their work because I was working at the time they completed the work so I took them at their word. Second issue - there was still water in the existing valve box and I told them to fix the leaking valve and otherwise remove the water. They claimed that this issue was not the result of their work but they would fix it anyway. Third issue - I discovered that one of the new zones (which they installed) was watering the same plants as another existing zone when it was turned on. After I complained to them, Jonathan pleaded with me to let them make it right. They eventually fixed the issue (different zones watering the same plant). Fourth issue - after they completed the installation of the 2 new zones, the zone that watered 2 of my raised garden beds stopped working even when it was turned on. They again said that they didn't do anything to this zone and didn't understand why it wasn't working. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked them to fix it anyway. I agreed to pay them for that work. A few days later I asked them to return to fix a leaking 1/2 inch tube they failed to patch and a 1/2 inch tube that they failed to close for the raised garden bed. They came back and took care of it. After they "completed the job," I promptly paid them. As of today, the zone for my raised garden still doesn't work when it is turned on. There is a lot of water in the existing and new valve boxes which they installed as well as the new water shutoff valve they also installed. Also, the new valve boxes they install are still not sturdy and easily sink down into the earth when a little pressure is applied to them. I've since learned that it is common/best practice to use brick or rocks as the foundation for the valve boxes to prevent them from sinking. And to top it off, I just awoke to my neighbor ringing my doorbell to tell me that water is shooting over the fence from my yard to theirs. It appears they used orange string instead of a proper end cap for one of the lines. The string, of course, could not keep the open line closed. I've repeated called/texted Jonathan to fix these issues. He's stopped returning my calls or texts.

NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project.
