Most of the jobs were for full PPF + ceramic coating of new vehicles, but they've also performed a couple of non-PPF paint correction, detailing, and ceramic coating work on well-used vehicles not eligible for PPF. In all cases, California Detailing produced fantastic results that made the new cars look better than they were at dealer delivery and the well-used vehicles look as close to new as possible. For vehicles that we've subsequently sold, California Detailing's attentive work helped protect their resale value. Even when we don't have big jobs pending, we drop by their shop a few times a year for installation inspections and touch-ups (no charge during PPF or ceramic coating warranty period). In addition to being skilled professionals, California Detailing also have great customer service that easily makes my family and me feel at home during our visits. Excellent and lasting results, great people, convenient location, and timely scheduling. We'll see them again soon!

Not gonna lie - it felt expensive - but they did an amazing job. They were up front and explained exactly what they were going to do. They did need to see the car before confirming a final quote. They did the full internal and external job and went through every nook and cranny until it shined. I dropped the car off at 9am and picked up a little after 5pm. TLDR: after the fact he said that to provide the work specified in his offer would be 2x the quote. And it seems he has fired this great 5 star team for *his* mistake. Bah. The technicians are hard working and delightful, in particular Christian. 5 stars for Christian. I don't think he is with this company any more though. If only scheduling had been the only challenge. Scheduling is unreliable, as you've seen in multiple other reviews. Three reschedules at the last minute. This is not the company to use if you have a deadline or event. Paolo offered a written scope of work, including the unambiguous "Our steam and hot extraction and removal service of stains, liquid spills, has no additional cost, it is courtesy of our company." Screenshots provided. This was not communicated to the technicians, who did not have the appropriate steam extraction equipment when they arrived. I reasonably expected the owner to send them back at a less busy time to complete the agreed upon written scope of work and at which time I would pay on completion. Nope. You can see here in the follow up messaging Paolo said the cost of the work as he had promised would be $190 more, providing justification for the cost with information he already had prior to creating the quote offer in the first place. He had the size of the vehicle, the location, and my explicit priority for deep shampoo of an older used high mileage vehicle. I also re-communicated this multiple times each time of the last minute reschedule. I am at a loss as to what I as a client could have done for better communication. This is frustrating most of all because at the time of updating this review, he is punishing his hardworking team for his mistake and I am of the impression they were fired.

I had been putting off dealing with the scratch because the last time i had a fender bender issue and had to go through insurance with an auto body shop, I'd had a bad experience with the rental car company they used trying to pin me with a ticket that wasn't mine, and long crazy story unrelated here. I had gone back to the same auto body shop (because it appeared they did a good job and they were very nice people, rental car not really their fault). But even though, to me it looked like a smaller job, they told to me it would be another biggish job, reaching into near $5000 to repair with panels, bumper, and paint repair, where I'd need a rental car co again so i had put it off, for fear of using rental car co, plus i have a $1000 deductible (ouch). To make a long story shorter i came into Downtown auto, upon referral, and met with a very nice guy, Martin. He took a look at my scratches and actually buffed them all out on the spot! (wow!) and gave me a bid to fix my front bumper for less than my deductible so i wouldn't even need to go through the insurance and rent a car! Plus, he said it'd be done in like 2 hours. I made the appointment and can't wait to update this review further. Btw, it's a comfortable waiting area, with nice glass viewing windows to see what's going on with your ride. Matt Berry is the absolute BEST Detailer you could ever find and I Highly recommend him…read more Yesterday he came to my home in San Rafael to Detail my 2000 Honda S2000 and he did an Outstanding job on it, so now my 26 year old car looks like it just came off the show room floor Matt spent well over 5 hours detailing it and he steam cleaned the engine, and also did an excellent job on the discoloration of the headlights which required using a fine sandpaper and buffing machine. Matt has all of the equipment in his very nice Van. We have used Matt in the past and we will certainly continue using him in the future for detailing all of our vehicles.
