I've had chronic sciatic pain for over 10 years. I've tried physical therapy, chiropractic care,…read moremassage therapy, stretching, exercise/weight loss, spinal injections similar to an epidural, medication...pretty much everything but witchcraft. Oh, and acupuncture! I have always been freaked out by the idea of acupuncture (amongst the typical fears, but I also have to thank Final Destination). My sciatic pain is caused by a bulging disc. It can be helped a lot better with surgery. Right now I'm too overweight to be a candidate. So that's cool. In the meantime, I needed some serious help. I can't stand for a long period of time to do regular daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning, doing the laundry or the dishes. It's hard to exercise. It's hard to sit. It's hard to sleep! I was getting desperate, and decided to take the plunge and try acupuncture. Jessica was my first provider. She's very sweet and made sure I was comfortable with my first visit. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to healing and I have her to thank for FINALLY giving me some LASTING relief of this pain! The treatment truly works between using the needles and the cupping technique, I've never been more pleased with results I've been searching for, for years! I also see Molly in rotation with Jessica, when one is not available I will see the other. Molly is also amazing! Her techniques and routine are a little different than Jessica's too which I feel is beneficial to my body to get a bit of a change once in a while. Molly is a great conversationalist and is also full of wisdom when it comes to overall health. Both Jessica and Molly make my visits feel like a spa treatment because it's so incredibly relaxing. Sometimes I fall asleep! I would also like to mention the receptionists at Selby are always very friendly and welcoming! Parking is breeze, they comp your parking fee at the Blair Arcade lot. Just bring in your ticket to your appt and the receptionist will take care of it for you. Thank you Selby Acupuncture for providing the help I needed! I'm wishing I tried acupuncture sooner!

Dr. Brian Levernier is multi-talented, and an excellent chiropractor!…read more I've been to a few chiropractors over the years, most of them very good and exactly what I needed at the various times in my life. At different times, old injuries pop up to haunt me. I have had back pain, neck pain, rib stabbing me, shoulders out of joint, hips out of joint, knee issues and foot pain. Not all at once! This time, it was mainly numbness and tingling in my fingers and wrist, plus knee and foot issues. Research told me that the practitioner I needed had to know a procedure called ART. (Advanced Release Technique.) I didn't even know a chiropractor would do this. But through searching for someone who does ART, I found Dr. Brian. He's REALLY good at this technique, plus gives excellent adjustments. Some chiropractors have struggled to adjust me, saying I have tight muscles but loose ligaments (or vice versa) but Dr. Brian has no problem adjusting me. And he has now done some ART on every part of my body. I am enjoying much less pain and, just as important, much more function. I can do the physical activities that are fun for me again. The clinic is very comfortable and the staff is friendly. It's easy to get to from Highway 100. I strongly recommend Levernier Chiropractic to take care of your body!

I had terrible pain in my mid back. I could hardly move and certainly couldn't drive or do my usual 2-5 miles of walking each day. I sought out Dr. Brian for a Selective Functional Movement Assessment, a very helpful place to start. The treatment plan Dr. Brian created accelerated my healing by combining his many areas of expertise. His sincere intention to restore my well-being was also key. It has been several months now and I'm back on track. I can do everything I did before plus I'm doing it with better form due to everything I have learned from Dr. Brian. A second situation with which Dr. Brian helped me presented itself as a pain in my shoulder but the assessment indicated the root cause was a nerve in my neck. One adjustment completely removed the pain and in 48 hours the rest worked itself out for 100% recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Levernier and personally plan a follow through program with periodic visits to maintain this higher state of wellness and strength.

I was initially diagnosed with metatarsalgia by an orthopedic doctor. He prescribed me foot exercises and metatarsal pads and neither of these ideas was helpful. I then went to a physical therapist and completed all prescribed exercises and this gave me no relief. It was then that I came to Acupuncture Health Center to see Dr. Huan Ma. I was skeptical of acupuncture but willing to try anything to see if I could avoid getting cortisone injections and/or surgery to resolve my nerve pain. The results were impressive. By the 5th acupuncture visit, my nerve pain was decreased by 90%, and it was totally resolved by the 8th visit. Near the end of these sessions, I mentioned to Dr. Ma that I needed to have toe spur surgery due to pain between my 4th and 5th toe due to a toe spur. I had been evaluated by an orthopedic doctor for this a few years ago and was told that this was the only treatment option. Dr. Ma informed me that he could resolve the toe spur pain through acupuncture. I decided to give this a try and it was resolved in another 8 visits. I am thrilled with the results and now have saved both the cost and down time that would have accompanied cortisone shots and surgery to resolve both of my foot problems. Thank you, Dr. Ma!

He has a way to make one relaxed and authentically cared for. My recommendation is beyond measure and I whole heartedly endorse his expertise and consider him to be amongst the most accomplished practitioners and it's so easy to rave about him because he's spectacular.

Below…read moreis a detailed answer elaborating why Shiatsu is great, & why Simon is great: I have tried chiropractors, physical therapy, and other types of massages, but Shiatsu has shown to be the most effective and lasting treatment for the type of issues I have. Particularly a pinched nerve in my lower back which causes frequent discomfort, and then a weak shoulder that often gets sore. After my initial Shiatsu session with Simon, I was sore, but the next day I felt amazing! And since my last session about a week ago, I still feel great - I highly recommend you try. Adding to that, Simon is very easy to work with. It's kind of a personal thing, having someone massage you, but Simon makes it both relaxing and creates a comfortable and calm environment. Sometimes we converse, sometimes we don't, but I never feel pressured to talk. He's also knowledgable AND patient with questions. When I first visited him, I had many questions that he happily answered with detail. I still have questions when I go to him, and he still has this kind & informative demeanor. Hope that gives ya enough info if you're wondering about visiting. I recommend Upright Shiatsu to everyone, and would choose it over a Chiropractor any day. I mean PLUS... a Chiropractor is more expensive AND sessions are like 10x shorter! P.S. You can also give gift cards to friends and family, which I have done!

There's an entry with the check in desk to pay for the service and go over any body issues you're having. You're then taken back where it's a big open room with curtains separating the chairs. You pick up a blanket or can bring your own. Masks are still required. Once seated the acupuncturist will place needles in your arms, legs and sometimes head. Clothes are left on but you do need to be able to roll up your sleeves or pant legs. You sit for 45 minutes after needles are placed before she comes back to take them out. This was my very first acupuncture experience so I'd probably go to a 1:1 session before deciding if I like it but I definitely had sone muscle spasms afterwards and had to get cupping for it to help. They're website is easy enough to use but appointments are super limited so it's hard to get in consistently. I also wonder how only placing needles on arms and legs impacts your bodies' ability to release energy. If you already like acupuncture and need an affordable option definitely check this place out. I'd recommend going to a 1:1 session first though before doing community.

Trish listens attentively and offers treatment and tucks you in with a blanket for a quick Acu-nap. It's really terrific. I have been to a private acupuncturist and was charged $85 for a 45 minute treatment--ugh (I could only go once a month). For the service, community acupuncture is a bargain as she has a range you can pay ($15-40 per session) which is reasonable even if you pay $40. I highly recommend it. I had called to schedule my appointment and scheduled it for 8:45 am, they told me to arrive 15 mins early for paperwork (standard, no prob). I received a notification late Friday evening saying my appointment was scheduled for 9 am. I was already confused on the different time, so I showed up at 8:35, i filled out the paperwork, then waited, and waited and waited. At 9:18 I was taken back by a chiropractic assistant to go into this office that I was instructed to watch a 7 minute video. It was a waste of time! Then when the video was done, I waited and waited and waited. I finally went back and the doctor and I talked about pains and he said he wanted me to do xrays, no prob as I know this is normal for chiropractors. But there was SO MUCH time I was just sitting by myself waiting. I thought a new patient appointment would be efficient and make me feel like I am cared about but all the excess time spent waiting I was just glad the appointment was free. I am definitely not going to continue care with them based on the experience I had.
