I purchased a refrigerator on 8/26/25, I paid for the installation and the removal of the old refrigerator. Apparently, my order was entered incorrectly into their system and my order was canceled. I called the store and on the fourth attempt, I finally was able to speak to a team member. I asked for the general manager who needed to call me back as he was busy with a customer. Once the general manager called me back, he offered to enter my order back into the system and I would only need to come back into the store and pay for it again. Not a big deal, the issue was that the refrigerator would not be delivered on the promised date. I travel extensively for my job and curtailed my schedule for this delivery. The general manager did not offer any further discount or any type of recovery for my inconvenience. I understand that things happen, but how you deal with issues is what separates you from the competition. Unfortunately, the competition has won me over. This is a nice store but if you need help with something special, forget it. I needed to order some custom blinds. I knew what I wanted, but needed a store representative to write up the order. I did not want to go to the store only to find that there was no one on duty in that department, so I tried calling to see when someone would be there who could place the order. I called repeatedly for 3 days and was never able to reach someone who could help - my call would be transferred, no one would answer, it would be transferred again . . . etc. So I finally went to the store and asked them to page someone to come to that section. The person I asked checked the schedule and said that yes, the custom blinds person was there. I waited for about 10 minutes and never heard the page, so I went up front again. This time I did hear the page, but again I waited about 10 minutes and no one came. They paged a second time and still no one came. I went back up front to see what was going on, but this time couldn't get anyone's attention, so I left. I'm ordering from Home Depot instead. It cost 5% more, but at least I was able to get help! We waited 30 minutes for paint. The woman told us 10 and then left one elderly man to do all the work. She came back 20 minutes later and helped a customer that just walked in. When we questioned she looked at us and was very rude and surprised that we were upset. Spoke to the manager and he also was nonchalant with everything. Until things change (and I'm not convinced they will), I will choose Home Depot or Pike Creek Hardware or Amazon for our hardware (etc) needs. They have some more items behind locked cases and waiting for someone took up precious time. I'm not sure the reason some things are locked up and other things that would be easier (in my opinion) to be stolen are not. We got to checkout and it was ALL self checkout with three people hovering over to be helpful - and there were three customers. These workers were doing their job and wanted to be helpful but I was not happy, I hate people hovering over me..I'm independent and want my space. We even had to scan our drivers license as well as the Lowe's card and credit card. We have been loyal customers of Lowe's and we are honest people. It's bad that they now have to lock stuff as it turns honest people off along with all the self-checkout with enough employees at checkout that could handle the customers. Unfortunately, Lowe's is turning into a budget brand store with subpar appliances. I purchased a front load Samsung washing machine and it stopped working in 2 years. I had it professionally installed by Lowe's as well. I've had two service technicians tell me that my machine must have a defect because there is no machine that should have these issues within two years. Also, both technicians along with a technician that came to look at my refrigerator warned me never to buy Samsung appliances again (my fridge is kenmore. It is 22 years old, and it still works.) Long story short of course Lowes offers no remedy to customers and Samsung only has a one year warranty. The manager from Lowe's who returned my call, Jessica, clearly had other things to attend to that evening, because she rushed me off the phone asking "if I had any others because we were talking in circles." She told me that they sell thousands of Samsung appliances at her store and have no issues with them and will continue to sell them. I guess her store didn't sell one of the 640,000 Samsung washers that were recalled in 2022. Just be warned that when you buy anything from Lowe's, you'll have to spend more money on protection plans. With appliances being so expensive, you'd think they'd actually last. I only got 2 years out of a "15 year" washer. I only wash about 3 loads of laundry per month, so it wasn't because of excessive use. I DO HAVE A HOME WARRANTY, which is why I didn't purchase Lowe's expensive protective plan. And from the poor service I've received, I can't imagine being satisfied with their warranty services. In sum, stay far away from Samsung washers, and don't expect and resolutions from Lowe's. read more

The store itself is well organized and for the most part clean. I can usually find what I'm looking for with the rare exception. I also generally use self check out so I rarely need to talk with a person and have a fine experience. IF you need help from a staff meme we, this is not the store for you. The staff is undertrained and apathetic. If you can manage to find someone, they most likely will wave you off or shrug their shoulders at you. It's kind of like a DIY store. read more

We ordered a washer that was scheduled to be delivered today . They never came but sent their boss a picture of our house and said we were not home but they said they tried to call. No call and hours later( after being home all day) they said since we weren't home they probably can't get us today. It is time people took responsibility for their screw ups. My better half purchased a refrigerator-was told delivery between 8-4. Delivery company called 7:15AM(why?) to say delivery between 1:30-5:30PM. Called again after 8AM same info? I've been to the Newark Lowes twice, both times horrible experiences. The first visit was to pick up kitchen cabinets I had ordered online. After ordering the cabinets online, I received an email telling me my "order is ready" and also instructed me to let the store know when I am "on my way" to pick up the order. I must assume that means they want to pull the order and have it ready when I get there. That would be great customer service... if it was true. So as instructed I let the store know I was "on my way" before I left for an hour drive to get there. Upon arrival, I had a 50 minute wait for them to bring out my cabinets and the sales persons excuse was that it "took them a while to find it". My next trip to Newark Lowes was worse. I ordered an additional cabinet online, and let them know via email that I was "on my way" to pick it up. Upon arrival, again nothing had been pulled so I waited 25 minutes while they looked for my order, then informed me they couldn't find it because they actually DO NOT even stock that style cabinet there at all. Their suggestion was to send me 15 miles further out of my way to the Middletown location where they DO stock that item. Despite the major inconvenience to me, the manager Dave said there is no way for Lowes to transport the cabinet from the other store or any other arrangements. Lowes customer service is THE WORST! Once I get this last cabinet, I won't ever be ordering anything again. read more

Have a contractor remodeling our home. Ordered 39 cases of hardwood from Lowe's. Received an email from Lowe's that our order was ready. I called to confirm it was ready. We were told it was. The next day our contractor went to pick up the order, it wasn't there. I called 3 times before I was able to talk to someone in flooring. They had no idea what happened. Now we have to wait another week before it comes in. If it comes in on time. Meanwhile, our contractor has another job to do. I have never come on Yelp and give a one star or complain but the Lowes in ogletown newark, DE needs improvement. I was put on hold for over 27 minutes when they tried to find a manager. After 27 minutes their phone disconnected me. I called again asked for a manager and after 6 minutes I hung up. I then called Avondale Lowes and had the best customer service that you could ever get. Lowe's online website LIED about pricing and delivery. I was told my appliances would be available in a few days, It took 3 weeks. Their excuse? The color was special order..which it NEVER said on the website. I asked if delivery and installation were included. I was told yes. BIG LIE. No one took any ownership on decisions being made and could have cared less when asked questions on direction of items or where the missing toolbox keys were. Had young lady page for customer assistance on isle 14 a total of 4 times and no one ever came during the 31 minutes I waited. We went to the Newark DE Lowe's store yesterday, only to find it understaffed with apathetic, sometimes nasty, employees. We needed advice about which mortar to buy for a tile floor, but there were no employees to be found. There were several other customers looking around for help also. We managed to find an associate walking around and asked if he could help us - he said he couldn't help us beyond paging Josh, the missing flooring associate. He did page him but Josh never came. We approached a different employee who literally turned his back on us to talk to his Aunt on his cell phone. Then found another employee to page Josh again. We waited. No Josh. By that time we had been there 30 minutes and there was a decent sized crowd of people waiting to be helped in Flooring. Two employees at a neighboring department were standing around doing absolutely nothing. I asked if they could help us and they said no. My husband walked around the store looking for an employee with Josh on his name tag and found him! Then Josh spent a couple minutes with us and was very knowledgeable. The other customers who needed him lined up and waited patiently while Josh helped us. After Josh finished with us, he walked away and ignored the other customers. We all nicely asked if he could help the others and he got RUDE. He complained - in a nasty tone of voice - that he was the only employee in Flooring that day, he hadn't had time for lunch yet, and he wished there were more employees in that department to help him. The other customers would just have to wait until he could get to them. Then he walked away. One customer did wait for about 10 more minutes and finally gave up. As he walked away, Josh appeared and chased him up the aisle, shouting to ask what the man wanted. Not in a nice way. This store is so poorly managed, I don't know how it's still in business. read more

I agree with most of the concerning comments by other reviewers. The store is not managed well, the staff never is around to help and their outside garden area is really small and not well stocked. I was just there (Nov 2016) to buy a $230 piece of lawn equipment and the only way I found the item was the website as we couldn't find a sole to help. Also just about impossible to find any type of flatbed carts to carry large items - which is ironic... no help no cart, how do they expect to sell the large items ?? We normally use the Avondale PA Lowes as they at least have people wiling to help and have plenty of flatbed and specialized carts to buy things. I guess the Newark Lowes misses the entire point about carrying large things and needing help and a device to get the item to the register to pay ! I give up on the Newark DE store and based on how few people were in the parking lot/store, it looks like others are just as frustrated. read more

This is the worse mnaged Lowes ever! Had a rude employee, very rude, so I went to find the (so called) manager.and I asked for the manager The lady said he is right behind you. I said are you the manager and he said yes and kept walking. Well, I ran him down and asked him if he could spare about one minute of his precious time. Told him about the sales girl that was rude, actually using the f word to me, gave him her name. He was obviously irritated that he had to stop and talk to me. He says I will talk with her. Yeah right! Another thing is that you can walk around this store and never get a person working there to offer help you find something, etc. I actually purposely stood at the end of an isle, looking up at the signs they have on the ends of the isles. Did this three times, not one who came by made eye contact, or even offered any assistance.They all either turned their head or looked down at the floor. It is obvious that when you have a manager that doesn't care, the employees (most) are not going to care. Attitudes plus! When you ask them a question, rolling their eyes, like...don't bother me These attitude problems are becoming more and more prevalent here is Delaware. I grew up here and people were friendly and willing to help one another. Probably 80% of the people living here now are from some place else, bringing their attiudes with them. I went to the Lowes a couple of days ago and bought a Troy Built Lawn Tractor for over $1,100. The sale person (Hal) was knowledgeable and helpful. The ride on mower free delivery was scheduled for the next day. Things were off to a great start. Then the problems started. The delivery people called me the next morning to say that the delivery could not be made that day and scheduled it for the next day. So far, ok. The next morning I don't get a call to confirm delivery time. After several attempts I eventually reach an operator at the store and leave a message for delivery. No return call. Numerous calls are made. Delivery doesn't answer. Lawn & Garden doesn't answer, Operator often doesn't answer. Numerous calls are transferred and then disconnected. Delivery eventually says nothing is scheduled and I should talk to Lawn & Garden who of course doesn't answer their phone. This kind of "service" by phone makes me want to go back to the store and say a few words to these people in person. I have been a Lowes customer for many years (mostly at other stores) and never experienced problems like this. Maybe this particular store is NFG. Next time I will go to a different Lowes or better yet Home Depot. Updating my review. I drove 30 minutes back to the store because it's impossible to get the delivery issue resolved by phone. I speak to a girl at customer service. From her reaction I assume this run-around is typical. She does not seem surprised. No apology that I waited all day for a delivery that never came. No apology that I was unable to reach anyone by phone in a dozen attempts. Customer service girl suggests I talk to delivery dept who is gone for the day by now. I refuse and she gets an Asst manager on the phone. Takes him about 1 minute to schedule the delivery. Couldn't do this by phone? No apology from the Asst. Manager who I never see. I have used this Lowes a number of times over the winter helping my brother fix his house up. They have almost all the basic supplies onw would ever need.The only issue is finding someone to help you on the weekends can be a challenge. A few more employees would be helpful. One of my friends had the worst experience of all time. We are hardworking college students just trying to create a backyard bar. We have frequented lowes in Newark for all of our binge drinking needs and feel like we deserve some sort of loyalty. All we needed was to borrow a saw. One damn saw for 5 minutes. My parents came in here the other day to pick out some carpeting since they're replacing the carpets in their home. The man in that department was working with another customer so they waited. When he was finished with that customer, he walked away - left the department - without saying anything to my parents. They figured he would come back but he did not. After 10-15 min they figured he wasn't going to come back, so they found another worker to page someone to help them. Another 10-15 min, still nobody came to their assistance. Eventually they figured they had better just go straight to Customer Service. The woman at the customer service counter calls on the people BEHIND my parents FIRST. The young man who finally showed up to the grilling department was great to deal with...I did feel bad for him since there were a ton of customers in the department and the other employees pretty much left him floundering for help while they couldn't be bothered. Another customer was kind enough to help us get the grill into our car since no employee ever showed up from the request from other employees to help. Their policy is they wont be beat by competitors! They refused to match! The difference was $70 on $800 worth of stuff. During the Veterans Day week, a Lowes employee named Zee embarrassed me in front of my family and rejected my military ID. After 10 minutes of waiting for her to find a manager, I eventually left the store empty handed. I was "educated" that Lowes doesn't accept veteran IDs. As a combat veteran who spent a year of my youth fighting terrorists and getting blown up by IEDs, losing multiple friends both abroad and at home, I'm appalled and disappointed in Lowes. I've been a loyal customer to Lowes for many years. I'm sad to say that, because of this incident, I can no longer shop there. I hope both the local and corporate offices consider this experience and reevaluate how they treat veterans. They have zero knowledge of flooring orders --- even Jim from appliances had to try and help because their usual flooring "manager" had zero clue what he was doing. We were told that our order would be "pulled and in the store for pickup as early at 630am". We showed up and 830 to NOBODY available to pull anything. Waited 45 min until someone showed up who attempted to pull anything he could to make it look like it was the fault of the warehouse who gave us the wrong flooring. Seriously? Very poor customer service, phone response about delivery. I ordered refrigerator from Lowes on 7/26/19 and was supposed to be delivered on 8/9 after 2 pm and they called me and said it will be delivered between 8-11 am and I wasn't there so I changed the delivery to next day. Since then it has been a nightmare getting hold of Lowes. Nobody answers in the store. Even customer service tried on 8/10 for 1 hour and could not get an answer. I went to the store and have given an answer that they have no control once the truck is loaded and would not be able to tell till the next day when truck comes back. I have to drive 85 miles to be at the delivery location and no one calls or shows up 8/9 and then on 8/10 again no call and I go to the store and they say we will deliver it Tuesday 8/13 after 7 pm because I cannot leave work before 5 pm and then drive 85 miles to be there. I confirm yesterday I morning and they say delivery is scheduled at 7 pm (mind you, I did not get any call from Lowes, I had to call). Then no one shows up and then I went to lowes at 8 pm and still same answer, we are sorry but we cannot tell you anything until tomorrow morning. I cannot be at that location for 2 whole weeks now. I have wasted 4 days and have to be at home waiting for delivery truck and cannot even go out to eat. I have wasted money on getting food delivered because I cannot leave house which is ridiculous and I ask then if they will give me 10 mins notice before they deliver and the answer is we do not know. I had work pending which needs to be finished but is being delayed due to this. I had to pick up furniture which I cannot go, I am missing my other commitments. It is a nightmare. read more
