I have visited Lowe's several times this spring looking for the perfect baskets for my balcony. I love the Gerber daisy baskets with creeping Jenny. Unfortunately they were not available yet at previous visits. And this visit they were all in poor condition. I considered buying the discounted baskets and nursing them back to health. I decided to visit another location and had better luck. They do offer a huge selection and many of the plants are healthy. Unfortunately some seem to be overwatered or unattended. read more

Lowe's: Where the Customer Service is as Dead as the Battery They Sold Me Ah yes, gather 'round, folks, for the epic saga of how Lowe's managed to lose a $3,346.92 sale over a $50 battery--and somehow made me feel like the unreasonable one. So, on October 5, 2025, I made what I thought was an exciting, adult purchase: a shiny new Toro 42" zero-turn riding mower from the Clay, NY Lowe's (Store #5095). After coughing up over three grand, plus tax (because joy isn't free), I waited eagerly for my new toy to arrive. The mower was delivered on October 7. That afternoon, I geared up, ready to mow like a suburban king... and nothing. The battery wasn't just dead--it was in a battery coma. No clicks, no lights, no sign of life. Awesome! Thanks, Lowe's, for delivering something that had literally one job--to start. Thinking this was a one-time fluke (ah, sweet naïve optimism), I trotted over to Walmart to buy a battery charger--because apparently when you spend $3,000+, your next task is to resurrect your own lawn equipment. Charged it a bit--still dead. Charged it overnight--miracle! It started. I mowed. Yay, success. End of story? LOL, no. One week later, I return for Round 2 with my new mechanical steed. Guess what? DEAD. AGAIN. Apparently, Toro stands for "Totally Out of Reliable Output." So I call Lowe's. The person I'm transferred to in the "mower department" makes a toaster look like a genius. He takes my info and says he'll talk to the manager (spoiler: a phrase you'll hear a lot in this circus). He calls me back (shockingly fast--credit where credit's due) and informs me that I'll need to contact Toro myself because the battery is under warranty. Oh, so I need to go chase down the manufacturer for the battery that Lowe's delivered dead-on-arrival? Makes total sense. I then ask if Lowe's could, I don't know, just replace the battery? I mean, basic customer service? Nah. He says that's what his manager told him to say. Naturally, I ask to speak to said manager. He refuses. I ask for the manager's name. "I'm not going to give you her name," he says, apparently moonlighting as a CIA agent protecting national secrets. Eventually, the elusive manager calls. Her name? Elisha. Last name? "Elisha." (Twice.) I had to request it three times like I was trying to unlock a boss level in a video game. She finally gives me the full name, presumably real. She explains that this happens all the time with Toro batteries (comforting!) and that if I want a replacement, I'll need to bring the battery in, wait for manager approval, and maybe they'll swap it. Oh, and no--they won't just bring me a working battery and take the dead one back. Because, clearly, that would make too much sense. I tell her, fine--forget it. Just come pick up the mower. I'm done. She then tries to guilt-trip me with, "You'd rather return the whole mower than bring in the battery?" Ma'am... you'd rather lose a $3,300 sale than deliver a functioning battery? So yes, Lowe's is now sending a truck to come retrieve their shiny, non-functional mower. A grand customer service victory! Congrats to everyone involved on a job terribly done. Lowe's, thank you for this magical experience. You've taught me never to spend another dime in your store--anywhere in the country. Lucky for me, Home Depot is literally across the street, and they seem to know how batteries work. Goodbye forever, Lowe's. I'd say it's been a pleasure, but... you know. read more

Tracy, as a front end manager, helped me with quality service but also her time which spanned a couple of days due to a glitch in an online system. I love the quality of service and products that Lowe's Clay provides. Situated down 31 from Great Northern Mall, this store not only has great leaders like Tracy but also incredibly talented and friendly part time help like Dayna who was working the front as customer service rep. Finally, in the fulfillment department, Geo is an amazing worker and needs to be recognized. For this particular issue, I was purchasing an electric, two stage, EGO, snowblower. There were only 2 left and when a glitch prevented my purchase to go through, Tracy stuck with it and helped bring it to completion. Tracy was patient, friendly and helpful in helping me not only with the purchase of this new age snowblower but also in the purchase of a leaf blower with same battery system and company. read more

I walked into the garden center and the cashier was on her phone texting. I tried to get her attention & when I finally did she looked right back down to finish typing. The customer service mirrored this same enthusiasm and level of respect through out the whole store. Also, this location doesn't allow dogs - the ONLY Home Depot I've been to that doesn't allow dogs. I'm disappointed and moving forward will go across the street to Lowe's. read more

I'll admit.... We normally shop at Home Depot, but we recently have been going to Lowes because of the deals they have been having. They also seem to have more staff around to help which is awesome because as a first time home owner we have tons of questions when it comes to our projects. We never seem to have to search the store to find someone which is super convenient especially when waddling around pregnant. When we did find someone who didn't know the answer he didn't waste anytime to search for help himself! Overall, clean and staff is super helpful. read more

Don't go through this store!! Spent $600 on an air conditioner for it to break after a month. Called customer service twice for them to promise to call me back that day, never heard anything. Then called the following day and was told there is nothing they can do and that it's not their problem. Will not be shopping at Lowes again! read more

They have a horrible horrible horrible customer service. You should never go to the store. Everyone is very rude. They have horrible employees, it took me a week to return one thing. Everyone was telling me different information of the status. Highly do not recommend. Please do not go to the store. I recommend Home Depot a lot better. Their managers are very rude. I came to visit my 85 year old Father who had just spent $3,000 on replacement windows. When I arrived the soffit and facia of his house were damaged, bent and hanging down over one of the new windows (installer must've hit them when he was taking down the ladder.) I called Lowe's multiple times only to get a run around. When I finally talked to someone they showed no sense of urgency (said someone would be out in 5 days) or remorse. Drive directly to the store on Rte 31 in Clay, NY and didn't get any more help from the Store Manager (Joe) either. It's terrible to see a major chain take advantage of a Senior Citizen on a fixed income - shameful. read more

Over the past 2 years, my wife and I have purchased nearly $10,000.00 worth of big ticket items like a new refrigerator, a standing freezer,and just a number of weeks ago a new in wall oven from Lowe's in Liverpool, NY. We basically do all of our hardware/household shopping at Lowe's. We've liked the quality of the products regardless of whether they are overpriced or not. Six weeks ago, our wall oven stopped working. After a couple weeks of suffering without the oven, we decided to buy a new one. Whom did we choose? Lowe's. We picked out a new oven we had liked and requested a contractor come over and take the measurements for a new insert. We paid $35 for the contractor to come do the measurements, where he was supposed to call us within three business days of signing the paperwork for him to come. Five business days later and no call. No call from a contractor. No call from Lowe's. No nothing. So on that fifth day, I had to take time out from working to call Lowe's to get to the bottom of this problem. Lowe's had no idea why this happened but managed to get the contractor over on that fifth day to do the measurements. After that was done, we had to go into Lowe's again to choose the model to fit the measurements taken by the contractor. "SPECIAL ORDER" Of course, so after another two weeks of waiting, we heard absolutely nothing from Lowe's or the contractor in regards to the status of our oven. So on 11-21-2018 I had to call yet again to Lowe's for answers. The rep at Lowe's told me that the contractor called me on 11-16-2018 to schedule the install that we paid $145 for the contractor to do. To this day I do not see where the contractor called, nor did he leave a message. Five days later, no nothing from the contractor or Lowe's. THANKSGIVING WAS RUINED. After yet another call to Lowe's, we managed to get our install set for 11-26-2018. When I came home to my complete and utter astonishment, the contractor did come and installed an oven, but something was horribly wrong. The overall size of the new oven is considerably smaller than our previous one that had failed! Without calling me to see if this is what I really wanted, he just installed it anyways and now you can see the hole in the wall where the old oven was. Our new one is sitting on two slats of wood with at least a 4 inch gap under the oven...and its not sitting evenly on those slats! I wish there was a pace to post a pic to show what kind of a job this contractor has done! We are so disappointed! We paid over $1,000.00 for something that looks like a fifth grader installed it. I called and complained as soon as I got home from work and was told that the contractor will be calling me today. It's almost 3pm and no call. It doesn't take much to realize that my issue wasn't at the top of this contractor's list to resolve. After all is said and done, my family has been without an oven for nearly six weeks. Two weeks on behalf of us, nearly four from the incompetence Lowe's has shoveled in our faces. DONE WITH LOWE'S! Thankfully Home Depot is just across the highway.
