We have spent an extraordinary amount of money in both of these stores. We rarely need to make returns, but we just had a recent instance of having to return 5 bags of polymeric sand because we decided to have the job done by a contractor. I saved the receipt and my husband went to the store to return the sand. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! Needless to say, we have made our LAST purchase at Lowes and I will be sharing this VERY NEGATIVE experience EVERYWHERE I can. read more

Dear Reader, Please just go to Home Depot! It doesn't matter if I am in the Lowes Hackettstown or Lowes Mt. Olive, the customer service at either is horrible. Allow me to elaborate on today's experience. I walk into Lowes -Mt. Olive and head straight back to the appliance dept. I am looking for a new stove. An employee, we will call him "H" is assisting another customer. I stand nearby, never greeted or even noticed. I eventually say excuse me is there another employee in this department that can help me, "H" says, "yeah, he's around here somewhere" rather than him calling the other employee, I have to go on a damn scavenger hunt. The hunt turns up nothing. I return to the counter where "H" is still assisting the other customer who is now on the phone contemplating whatever purchase they are considering. I say to "H" can you call the other employee? He says, yeah... Like really? You could have done that all along? humph.. The other employee replies to the call after "H'" says there is a woman here needing help. The other employee replies, "Yeah, in a minute" Wow!! I wait around for a few more minutes, never to meet the other employee, I eventually say to "H" whelp Home Depot gets my money; "H" replies "okay, bye" I then go to the front desk to ask for the manager, giving a snippet of my experience today to the employee at the counter. A manager is called but again after a few minutes of waiting never comes up. We purchased a couple of items here and paid for them to be assembled before delivered. Unfortunately, the delivery driver called the day of and told us that it the items were not assembled. Meanwhile, my husband had taken a day off of work to receive the items. My husband went into the store, told them of our issues and not one person issued an apology for the inconvenience. Needless to say, we returned all the items and we'll go elsewhere. read more

The lumber and building supplies here are all 'top notch' I've never had any bad experiences with any of their building products. Another bad Lowe's experience. I attempted to purchase a $3500 John Deere top of the line tractor on the Friday going into Memorial Day Weekend. No employees around and I had to find one in a different section, who then called the employee over responsible for lawn equipment. Immediately he gives me a line about how the tractor won't even be ready until late next week. I then ask whether I can check the serial number and condition of the unit I'm that needs inspected before I agree to purchase- and he immediate says he has all sorts of other things to be doing and that he wouldn't be able to do that. Probably should have called the manager, but I know he's in on the 'time wasting' mindset as well. Needless to say- that mindset lost Lowe's a $3500 sale. read more

I traveled 33 miles to this Lowes to purchase a countertop, cabinet, vanity and mirror for my bathroom remodel because the Lowe's closes to me was out of stock. I placed the items on hold for pick-up later. Before I made my second trip to pick up the items, I checked on-line, and found that the Matamoras store had the items in stock, and the cabinet was $120 cheaper. I used the "chat" online option, and the representative said there would be no problem to have the Flanders store perform a price match, rather than cancel the order and do a new purchase at Matamoras. I printed out the online cart, that clearly showed the prices. When I placed everything on a dolly and went to customer service, they refused to honor the price from Matamoras. I asked to speak with the Assistant Manager (Jamie), who was unmoved and refused to make the price change, because the Matamoras store was "too far away". I took the items at the original cost, and drove to Matamoras, where the customer service was great, and had no problem receiving the price match. If you go to the Flanders location, don't expect them to follow corporate policy or professional service. read more

$35,000 kitchen. Everything went great, until 1 thing went wrong. For a few weeks now I've been trying to get a replacement door for one that warped. This kitchen is 5 months old and I'm already having trouble. We are heading down the wrong path here. I initiate every call with very little or no follow from them. I'd like to be a loyal customer, but some simple service and backing up your products isn't this hard. Shame on me. We had purchased insurance on a lawn mower. It broke the insurance company said return it to the store for repair. The store kept it for three weeks and then told us we not repair lawn mowers. The insurance company e company well that model is no longer available so there is nothing they will did give us our insurance price back. Also bought some plywood and did not touch it and returned it and was told sorry you only have 90 days to return it and we were at one day over. I have a neuromuscular disease and they would not help me load it so I had to leave it there. read more

I've only patronized them twice over the past few years, but I'm happy with the service and the whole process, generally speaking. A confession-- the prospect of doing certain things that more normally constituted people my age do routinely paralyzes me. Buying new appliances is one of those distressing things. I had replaced hot water heaters, but nothing else. Always lived in places where the need to replace appliances other than hot water heaters was never something I had to think about. But I've lived in my current residence for a few decades now, and the appliances that were there when I moved in then are growing old now. The washing machine went first, a few years ago. After the PSE&G guy said he wasn't going to fix it, I panicked. How long could I exist without washing my clothes, before people started avoiding me on the streets and at work? The thought of having to measure the old machine in order to figure out the size of the new machine (did I even have a tape measure? turns out I did), the process of pricing and buying a new one, the money I would have to spend, and then the thought of them having to dismantle my old machine in the very limited space of my laundry room, which is at the end of a narrow hallway (I also have to confess that my place is one step away from being an episode of "Hoarders"), and of having to install the new machine...it left me a stupefied, whimpering (old)manchild. Then I finally screwed up my resolve, remembered Don Corleone's admonition to "Start acting like a man!" and headed unsteadily over to the nearest Lowe's, which was in Flanders. Someone had suggested I go to P.C. Richards, but Lowe's was the first place that came to mind. A friend of mine used to buy her gardening supplies from Lowe's exclusively; she shopped there so often that I joked they were going to rename the store after her (even as a joke, that wasn't really a practical possibility, as her last name is "Grant," and there used to be a department store chain...long since defunct...named "Grants"). One of the aspects I find annoying about the shopping experience anywhere is salespeople coming up to me and asking, "Can I help you?" I mean, they're doing what they have to do, it's their job, but I always say, "Just looking, thanks." I can find what I want by myself, and when I find it, I'll buy it. And if they stand there looking at me like I'm planning to stuff a pair of socks or a DVD under my shirt, I'll find another store to patronize. This was an occasion where I would have liked someone to come up to me and ask, "Can I help you?" Because I needed the help. That didn't happen at Lowe's. And it should have. If there was a negative aspect to the Lowe's experience, this was it. I needed a salesperson to come up to me and ask, "Can I help you?" They didn't. I went in the late afternoon, and it was crowded. I looked over the washing machines, waiting to talk to someone, but it looked like I was on my own. Finally, I walked up to a sales associate who appeared as if she wasn't doing anything in particular, explained my dilemma (my "cute" line in a situation like this is, "I'm not an idiot savant when it comes to washing machines; I'm just an idiot..." Ha. Ha.), and at that point, she was helpful. I picked out the brand, paid for it, and arranged delivery. The day of installation, 2 young men came in a truck. They dismantled my old machine, hauled it out, brought the new one up in a dolley, and installed it. I don't think the whole process took more than 40 minutes. The washing machine wasn't a name brand...it was a Lowe's "house brand"...but from then until now its been working fine (knock on wood). A few weeks ago, my stove/range/oven bit the dust. Again, PSE&G told me it wasn't fixable. Again, I went to Lowe's. Again, no sales associate came out to see if I needed help. But when I finally prevailed on one for their assistance, she was friendly and helpful. I thought the experience this time might end badly. The initial item I picked (which was in the right price range) was sold out. The next item (a bit more expensive), the sales associate spent 20 minutes in the back looking to see if they had it in stock before telling me that it too was sold out. My back teeth were grinding together in mounting frustration by this point, and I was cursing once again that unlucky star I had been born under, but the 3rd item was a winner. A bit more expensive (although not excessively so), and it was in stock. Again, on the day of installment, 2 (different) guys came in a truck, dismantled my old item, and installed the new one in approximately a half hour. Lowe's had proven to me that the normal exigencies of life that have intimidated me for so long really aren't so paralyzing as I had expected or imagined. Overall, Lowe's has made the process easy. If my up-to-now reliable ol' refrigerator bites the dust, I'll know where to go. But hopefully that won't happen for a long, long time. read more

I am so disappointed in the disregard for the handicapped at the Lowe's in Mt Olive in the trade zone. For the last 6 or more months they have only 1 functioning handicap scooter. My husband live close to that store which is our go to store. I've written to the store and called the manager but nothing is done to accommodate those that need a scooter such as my husband. When I called to complain I was told by the manager that they have 2 scooters. I responded by saying "No you don't , you have 1 scooter because the second scooter has been broken for a year". We had to get back in our vehicle and drive to another Lowes. read more

If you are considering getting carpet here, one word of advice.... DON'T!! We purchased carpet from here and it's the worst installation we ever hard in 40 years of being homeowners! One year after install, the carpet is so lumpy and bumpy it's a huge tripping factor and now I'm left to find someone to hopefully be able to come stretch it because the belligerent crew that was sent here did such an inferior job. And when I called Lowe's customer service, I'm told nothing they could do since the warranty on install was 1 year. Of course it was. What a joke. Never again. I remodeled my kitchen with them. Huge mistake. It starts with an attempted overpriced upsell to price gauging on the labor. Then you get to encounter numerous mistakes on the component ordering and missed deadlines by their contractor. And don't believe their claim of 'managing the project from start to end'. When there's problems, they literally refuse to take your calls. I had to drive to the store and engage the manager of the store to get their people to even speak with me. If you want to be treated badly, go here. If you are a veteran without having your phone number enrolled be prepared to be told that you don't know where you live and that you must not be a veteran. You could be in the system, have valid ID cards, etc., but some mean lady will just tell you she doesn't care. Also , make sure your local address is the same on your drivers license. Customer service in Loews home improvement at Internation Center store is horrible. How do they keep this store open with such horrible customer service. I was there today to get a door -window-roof -siding for my new home and I waited 25 minutes at windows doors desk ,finally the guy from that department shows up gets on the computer totally ignores me then comennts can I quickly help you.I said yes, I need someone to come out for an estimate for my home.He said he cant help me he is the only one working that deparment and was too busy then he walked away . leaving me no estimate.well I guess they dont care for the business. LOWES promises dreams but gives you repeating nightmares. DO NOT DO ANY PROJECT WITH THEM!! Please DON'T SO IT - I am trying to spare you and your family's hours of frustration!! The listed horrible experiences are honest and maybe even not going into all of the pain LOWES has put them through. After 7 years of saving $, my husband and I started working (and paid in FULL) on a kitchen with Lowes in May 2018 - It is 18 months later, (SHOCKER.. wait for it... ) the kitchen is still not finished and to make matters worse - the "beautiful $6K kitchen-aid 6 burner range" purchased and installed by LOWES NEVER WORKED. LOWES has been aware of this since August, with no resolution. From purchase to delivery of appliances - though the MOUNT OLIVE (Flanders) NJ Store #1512 - have been horrific & scarring. The XPO delivery team came into my home on May 3rd and verbally assaulted me calling me numerous insults and a "PUTA" when I would not allow them to drag the appliance across a newly refinished floor (also completed by LOWES) without any floor coverings or protection. Of Course, XPO walked off the job that day and did not deliver - after I had taken the day off work. The appliance needed to be delivered by a store team on May 4th. The MOUNT OLIVE store, curiously, has no record of ever delivering my range - but the LOWES installer does. Kitchen Aid is saying my appliance is out of warranty and to add to the bad decision of purchasing anything through LOWES - MOUNT OLIVE - the extended warranty that was purchased at the time of sale (almost $750) was never registered with the warranty company NSI. The MOUNT OLIVE, NJ Store and the LOWES Executive office (who should change their name to the unhelpful office.. BTW thanks for nothing Tracy & Megan, and to whoever the new case manager assigned to our flailing project) will not fix the issue - they just keep going in circles - they have no records (what can you expect, its LOWES)- BUT I HAVE THE RECEIPT AND PAPERWORK. Still nothing... Based on my experience LOWES purposefully challenges to see how miserable they can make their customers. Maybe the customer will forget they have a new range in their home that doesn't work so they cannot cook for their family. **Please excuse typos - Lowes has ruined every last brain cell I had tying to finish this project and actually be able to live in my home** read more

The worst experience ever! Took forever to complete purchase, when it finally came, they could not install. Credit applied, was not the full amount paid and took multiple calls to get the full refund. Credit card services don't pick up. I don't really feel the need to ever review "big box" stores but the staff and service here at this Mt Olive Lowes is top notch. We have been in several times since the new year as we are working on a house we just moved into. Each time we were quickly greeted and offered assistance by the first employees we saw. If we were ever wandering looking for something it never took long to be approached or find someone knowledgable to point us in the right direction, often taking us to that particular aisle and answering any questions. We have made some returns with no problems at all--even a snowblower that quit working after 15 minutes. Amazing. The cashier also honored a coupon we didn't realize had expired. Keep up the great work and awesome attitudes. We will never shop the "orange" store again--nothing but attitude there. Thanks! read more

Props to "Donna" in Appliances!! She is a class act! After I wasted a couple hours on the phone with the "Lowes Service Advantage" call center, and the "Samsung" call center, and the Samsung repair technician never showed, I called the Flanders store and finally got resolution. Donna listened to my plight and arranged for a service technician to come out and repair (a factory defect on) the brand new refrigerator we had recently purchased from the store. Donna provided excellent customer service, which is hard to find these days. Great job, Donna, and thank you!!!!!! read more

Visited the Mt. Olive store on the afternoon of July 4th to buy a refrigerator for my mother, who knew the model number she wanted. We were finally able to locate a young appliance sales guy, who very reluctantly "helped" us by putting the order in the computer. He supposedly then checked "the back" to see if they had one and returned about 10 minutes later, confirming they had it in stock and would be delivered 2 days later. (Note to management: I would strongly suggest randomly drug testing the 2 salesmen that were in the appliance department that day.) The next day, my mom received a call from the store, saying that they only had one refrigerator with that model number and it had a very small dent at the top of the right side, toward the back. "It's so small that you almost can't see it." They offered her a 10% discount. She agreed to take the delivery as long as it really was hardly visible. The truck showed up this morning, with a refrigerator that - no exaggeration - looked like it had been dropped upside down from a truck or fork lift. The top and BOTH sides had huge dents in them. Thank goodness my 88 year-old mother had the nerve to tell the two delivery guys that she wouldn't accept it. Meantime, she still needs a refrigerator. read more

Every time I come here I remember why I never shop here. I purchased a GE Profile dishwasher. The installers damaged the top keys and they made it worse by trying to fix it with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser which made it worse. The dishwasher was drilled into the upper countertop thus suspended in the air underneath. The cancel key does not work and the soap container does not let the soap out. I immediately reported the installation issues and was informed a new machine was ordered and should be approximately a week. It has been at least 3-4 weeks and not machine. The sales person does not return my call and the manager does not return my calls. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOWES. I want to return the malfunctioning and damaged dishwasher only to be ignored. Be wary when you see the 4.5 stars. It is only because you need to give at least one start. ALso every time I go to the store there are no customers and no one on the floor. It is a ghost town. She requested help 2 times today and yet no one helped, she is handicapped and had to ask another shopper in the parking lot to help load the vehicle. I switched over from Home Depot to lowes years ago for many reasons but this lowes makes me want to switch back. If you go during the week there is only one register open and the old lady that's usually there on Mondays when I go is rude and miserable everytime. God forbid you have to return something and she has to do her job, your getting her in full b!tch mode. Nobody there knows what's going on or where anything is. They are so lazy that when you ask them where something is they tell you to check aisle " x" and if you already looked there and couldn't find it they tell you they don't have it instead of helping you look for it.
