This is further to my post yesterday identifying Lowes as being unacceptable when dealing with appliances. The floor sales staff have indeed gone beyond the basic effort and have tried to resolve or minimize the problem, and I am very greatful for their help. I do, however, stand behind my suggestions as to how to handle purchases of appliances with regards to local permits and requirements, and best way to protect yourself from problems that are inherent with dealing with big box providers. The system for all of them will not change, but we, as customers, can take steps to ensure that problems are kept to a minimum. If the installer, in my case, had only confirmed damage before they removed the old oven, there would not be any arguments as we could have carried on without hardships while Lowes solved the problem. Knowing the pitfalls can help you avoid these problems and still shop and obtain the best prices. read more

What a difference from our last experience! Lowes has lost a customer over this fiasco. We purchased a dishwasher, which was delivered on the install day, but with a part missing to complete the job. The contractors said Lowes would call later that day to get the part OK'd.... and it wouldn't be much. Weeks later, the box was still sitting in our dining room, and no one ever called back. The customer service reps were sweet, but nothing ever happened. When weeks later I was called with a very high price, I said forget it... come get the diswasher and I'll spend my money elsewhere. Instead of the agreed upon day, they came the day before (gee... they can do things quickly when they want!). To add insult to injury, a charge for the full installation showed on my Visa that day, and the dishwasher and hose were no removed as promised. There's a reason I prefer avoiding the big box stores. They delivered a refrigerator with a bent bottom shelf. The freezer gets iced up on one side and doesn't freeze on the other side. Called customer service soo many times everyone i got a different answer. Finally got a date and time for service person to come look at it. Waited all day but noone showed up. Rescheduled another appointment. They showed up to to tell me the draw is bent and lowes will contact me. Of course they didn't call me back. I had to call again. After 3 days going back and fort they decided to give me the manufacturers phone number. After that I was done with them. I will return the rerefrigerator and go somewhere else. read more

Like the classic rivalry between retail giants Macy's & Gimbel's back in the day (anybody see "Miracle on 34th St"?), Lowe's relishes the head banging they do with Home Depot. How many times have you seen Lowe's open up directly across or down the street from a Home Depot? These 2 just give each other the evil eye across Broad Hollow Rd and Conklin St. In this competition, I have to give the edge to Lowe's for organization and store cleanliness, though both have horrible, understaffed customer service. That'd why I like to go in knowing exactly what I want, where to find it and how much it will cost. I do my research online, use the app to locate the product, go to self-checkout and be in & out in less than 10 minutes. It pays to do comparison shopping beforehand, especially if you're buying a major appliance. Both stores carry similar items, so do your homework. I am also guilty once in a while of lingering in hardware and occasionally drooling over the power tools (that's why you never buy the display models :P). If they have that Dewalt Compound Miter Saw marked down, it wasn't me. Plus the driveway entrance to this Lowe's is a little hard to find, since they don't have a sign on the main road and you have to depend on your phone's GPS to tell you where to turn in. read more

This Lowe's Store on 110 in Farmingdale was amazing today! (FrI. Mar. 21) at least 3 staff members greeted us and asked if we needed help. Pleasant conversation with another employee about how best to fix a problem in our living room. He recommended his colleague in flooring could help us with another issue. Everyone was lovely and treated us respectfully. As we checked out the most wonderful cashier helped us find a bar code we missed. She was delightful. The icing on the cake is that the ladies rest room was immaculate! With the exception of the broken seat in the stall I used, it was such a welcoming thing to walk into a clean restroom. I will only shop at Loew's from now on! read more

Lowe's Home Improvement - Nobody coming - Hardware Stores Near Me - Farmingdale, New York

1 star only because 0 stars is not an option. DO NOT PURCHASE KITCHEN APPLIANCES FROM LOWES. The Lowes employees have no knowledge or expertise in what they are selling. Customer service is non-existant when a problem arises. If you need appliances, my advice is to purchase from a reputable local appliance dealer. I purchased over $7,000 worth of appliances from Lowes on Dec 2, 2024 with an expected delivery date of Dec 15. I was assured that everything was in-stock.The order didn't arrive until Jan and was missing an $800 microwave which I was assured, when I called the store, I would receive in a "few days". Aparently the order was botched because the wrong sized microwave showed up (and was subsequently returned). Lowes tried to blame the shipping company, as if the shipping company had any input of the size of the appliance that they were delivering!! On Jan 17, I received a call from Lowes that the original order was going to be cancelled and a new microwave was ordered. I was told by that person that Lowes do not stock these particular appliances and it was a special order. Aparently, they will say whatever they need to say to make a sale. I have been trying to get an update on this "new" order for over a week now. Lowes employees have no idea where the appliance is. After 7 calls and multiple emails, the best that anyone can tell me is that the "vendor" shipped the appliance on Jan 21 via Estes Express shipping. I was even given a tracking number for Estes and told by Lowes that delivery was scheduled for Feb 6. The Lowes employee somehow also input the wrong delivery address on the replacement order. When I reached out to Estes, they have no record of the shipment and suggested that I call Lowes again. I did call and received zero help from the person in customer service other than a suggestion to speak to the manager. After 10 minutes on hold, someone, (the manager I presume) picked up the phone and said "hello". I responded hello and the line then disconnected. There is no complaint process, no accountability and certainly no customer service at Lowes for a situation like this. They should stick to what they know and stay out of the appliance business. I was a Lowes Pro until this fiasco. I will not use their stores ever again after this. There are plenty of better options, especially for appliances. read more

This review isn't necessarily for the Farmingdale store but Lowe's in general. Weeks before Christmas we ordered an electric fireplace that we paid to have delivered and assembled. We scheduled a date after the holidays for delivery. Two days before the date we get a call from Lowe's delivery confirming the date and also to say this particular item won't be assembled. They didn't know that a good month ago when this item was ordered?? No excuse so I guess right now my feelings on Lowe's is they suck. read more

I am forced to give Lowes a 1 star rating - but they don't even deserve that. The real rating I am giving is Negative 10. After a 3 week customer service nightmare the best thing that I can do is to NEVER use Lowes for any reason ever again. If I had read the reviews here first, I never would have ordered appliances from Lowest. 3 Weeks of calling for many days and holding for half an hour just to get a person to find out what happened to our order. 3 weeks of getting passed around to at least 15 rude incompetent employees. One hand does not know what the other is doing at this store. Many times stopping down to the store, finally a contract signing for the installation, (employee screwed up and never scheduled an appointment to measure for installation in the first place), guess what the contract wasn't right. A 5 minute signing turned into a 2 1/2 hour horror show, sitting there waiting for them to get themselves together. They wrote the contract wrong, their printer was broken, etc. We contacted lowes corporate office for compensation and they offered a measly $100 after 3 weeks of calls and visits to the store that turned into a part time job for a simple order of a range and dishwasher. We never should have spent $2,000 at lowes, they truly didn't deserve our business. Lowes obviously doesn't care, I told them to keep the $100 and the empty apologies. This store has many bad reviews and they don't seem concerned enough to address and correct the issues. John the manager at lowes apologized. Sorry right back to him, you lost a good customer and many others. If you treat customers this horrible and corporate does nothing about it, oh well for today. But, you will only be in business for so long. No company is above treating customers right. read more

I remodeled my kitchen using Lowe's in Farmingdale with designer Mark Prince. From June 2021 to Nov. 2021 Mark lived up to his name, he was a Prince, from design changes to installation of my kitchen he was very much involved. I selected Diamond Reflections, and though I had to wait 4-5 months for the product I was very happy. The Diamond cabinets all came in with little to no issues. My contractor also did a great job Jose Construction and the countertop/backsplash through Lowes was also a crowd pleaser. I am very happy with the products and service. I highly recommend working with Mark Prince, he is very customer oriented and very patient. My only other recommendations is to see the stone you select for your countertops and if you go through Lowes ask for Marlin and Sergio to install your countertops they are the best! read more

I am writing about "trying" to pay my bill for my Lowe's credit card. Lowes billing statements went paperless and in order to receive a bill I have to pay a $1.99 fee to see what my statement looks like. They say you will receive the bill online if you opt out of paper.. I NEVER received a bill in my email. I checked junk, spam, and inbox and all I ever received from Lowe's is "junk" mail in those categories, but never a statement. I wasn't thinking about my purchases and today I went to close my credit card because I already have a Lowe's cc through my spouse and don't need two credit cards from the same place. To my surprise the recording on the phone said I owed not only the money that I spent, but also late fees and interest fees. I was able to have the late fee dismissed but not the interest that it accrued. Also, when I am signed on to Lowe's website and request to see a statement, it takes me to another site and says I have to sign in again. When I tried to do that, it said my user name and password are incorrect. Wtf, I was just signed in and now it's incorrect, (more like impossible to see my statement.) This is some SCAM!! In order to pay the money that I owe Lowe's, I have to pay them more money to see a statement so I could pay the money I owe. If ever there is a similar product that I could buy from Lowe's or Home Depot, I will purchase at HD for this reason. read more

Just bought my Christmas tree from here. The trees were in great condition and I came in about 10 minutes to closing and a man bill helped me in the outdoor department. This stores location is not easily visible from the main road. I have occasionally missed the turn off the main road that leads to the stores location. The only reason I visited this store is because there was a sale on outdoor mulch. Their staff was very helpful loading the mulch onto my car and the checkout process was safely handled in the consideration of the present pandemic. read more

Staff did not look at all happy to be there, not one staff member smiled at us or seem to know what they are doing. 1. We asked for thermostat wire and was directed to the carpeting aisle. 2. We asked where they keep the thermostat and we were directed to plumbing. 3. We found the wire ourselves and had to wait almost 10 minutes as we observed staff congregating at the other side at the store. 4. The person who assisted was not sure which wire is for thermostat. 5. At self check out the system required a staff member to verify the length so we can pay and we had to wait for her to mop the front end. It just seems like everyone's head was jn the ground or sand. I am renovating an entire 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. I liked what I saw at Lowe's. I ordered online multiple items online. After a week I saw my 3 orders were all cancelled due to no stock. I reordered when it said they re-stocked. Again, my orders got cancelled without my knowledge. I went into the Farmingdale store to order flooring. They asked and wrote on the order my preferred delivery day. They showed up 2 days earlier, and no one was there to accept the delivery. I called Lowe's and someone there rescheduled the delivery. This this time no delivery showed up. Now they are telling me it already had been delivered. $2,600 worth of flooring and they say I received it on the day they showed up and no one was there. I am waiting now to get this resolved. I have better things to do. read more

Scheduled the delivery day in store. They called to confirm the delivery time window the day before delivery day. Delivery day came and table wasn't delivered. First time I called I was told "it was on its way and running late". Called again and was told it was never on schedule to deliver but would arrive next day. The next day, never arrived. We waited over a month for a bbq grill that we ordered online. We had to call constantly for updates and were "disconnected" several times when we would call to see if it was ready. When it was finally ready my husband went to pick it up he received no help trying to get it in the car. He also asked for assistance unscrewing one of the sides. He had brought with him screwdrivers but didnt realize he needed a wrench. When he asked if they had a wrench he could borrow they said no. Lol okay. So he walked to grill to the tools and finally found someone who could help him. Justin was amazing and stayed with my husband while they tried to figure out how to get the side down and in the car. The other day my husband and I went to Lowe's in search of granite or something for a custom built outdoor table. We spoke with an associate who needed to ask another associate a question but we were told that he could not bother him because he was sitting with a customer. However, that same associate needed to speak with our guy and our guy walked away to help him. We did wait for a few minutes then left because we felt that we were just not important. Went to Lowes in Farmingdale today. Perhaps more recently, the staff is looking to get those cudos . Over all we had a friendlier experience in the Farmingdale location as to the Hicksville one. We went in to buy an air compressor. John was the rep who knowledgeably assisted us. Also, he was kind, with compassion, something for us that was needed. We did buy it. As fate would have what I expected to be a quick transaction on our part, we forgot the credit card we had planned to use. We used another. We needed to go to the front to pay for it and again we met, this time, Glen. A young man who was assisting and actually lives in Hicksville. Nuf Said. We moved the car to the far end for pick up. Brian came out with the unit on a lift. Thing is, I had not thought about making sure there was room in the car, certainly with the other shopping items in it, it did not quite fit. Yes he and John could have finagueled it in with much work but then at home we would have to have juggled it out. So what we opt to do, call our son to come with another car. Of course, it figures, my cell phone was on "0" and had no charge as I had forgotten to charge it. Plan B or was it now , Plan C, Mary a lovely employee who had been talking to another employee, told him to wait a minute and gave me her full attention, such a rarity these days. She allowed me to make a local call on the cell phone to call my son and ask for him to come. Yes, we forgot to tell him to take the correct charge card with him, you know, to get all those juicy points. Oh well. Glen said I can bring the receipt to a Lowes and they can cancel and ring it on the other card if I wish. So, you ask why 4 stars, not 5. Well, we had bought some sealant at the other location, for the gutters but it was black not white and of course after walking back again, Glen checked with the Paint man and they did not have the white. I called This Lowes to get an estimate of siding for my house. Mr. Patrick Higgins a project specialist came by on time when he said he would. He was very friendly and polite, he took measurements showed me both color sample and style samples. After I chose he crunched the numbers and gave me an estimate with absolutely no pressure to buy. I couldn't believe what a great price he quoted with no hidden costs. I signs on and he scheduled a great subcontractor called Reliable home improvements out to remeasure the sq.footage. Patrick assured me that as soon as the weather became more stable they would be back to start. Asked him how long the project would take and he said 1 day maybe 11/2 days from start to finish. Honest to his word it took about 12 working hours and my house looks great! When the contractors left you would never know they were here except for the new siding, that's how clean they left my property. About 10 days later I call Lowes to see if the products are in and they show in their store computer records that it was delivered but they cant seem to find it anywhere in the store, they also tell me that they dont have the items in stock and that they can not do anything further except just wait to see if the items turn up. I came in needing two copies made of two different keys. Something which shouldn't be altogether difficult or cause much frustration, right? Not here. I go into the store, and see a gaggle of employees shooting the breeze at the customer service counter, and being unfamiliar with this store, walk up to ask them where I can get keys made. Everyone shoots me a surprised look, as if wondering why they should be interrupted. I get sent to the other end of the store where, as you might have guessed, nobody is covering the Hardware section. Not a big deal, as I go behind the desk and push the red Help button...and proceed to wait...and wait...and wait. When someone finally came over to make my keys, he used the wrong mold. I found out when I got back home that the key didn't even fit into the lock. Thankfully, Lowe's accepts returns on faulty keys, and the automatic machine at the Lowe's in Rosedale took care of my needs. Check-out was, actually, a pleasure. The young lady overseeing the self-checkout lane saw me struggling with the machine, as it wouldn't scan my MyLowe's card, and took me at her till. Decent garden section but horrendous service and poor inventory control. Unlike Home Depot, you'll have a hard time finding workers there to help locate items and I have a feeling anytime you want something that an associate doesn't feel like locating they'll just say "oh that's not in stock". How could you possibly know without looking or is your memory that good? A couple times I've ordered multiple items off the website for pickup at the store only to get called back by the store telling me 2 of the 4 items you ordered aren't actually in stock so we're cancelling that order. Today I tried ordering a patio they had on display and this is how the conversation went: Me: I'd like to order the 7 piece Garden Treasures patio set you have on display Lowe's salesperson: what's the item number? We have a lot of patio sets. Me: I don't have the item number but there's only two 7-pice sets on display and I want the one that's black with the blue cushions Lowe's: That can be anything. I need an item number. Me: No, again, there's only two 7 piece sets on display and ONLY ONE is in black with blue cushions and the brand is Garden Treasures Lowe's: *Grumble, grumble grumble* No we don't have that in stock. Well the homeowner that be me is attempting to recover my 525 sq.ft pressure treated deck of 2x6 lumber. Got to say spent two hours going through the rack and was able to find a few acceptable boards. So there prime number two fits accordingly it is a number 2 for sure and it is unbelievable that this quality of wood is touted as being prime number two horrible quality' I give it two flushes because no one would believe a corporation so large would sell this low end junk. I have never seen such incompetence in my life. They told me to come down to get a water heater installed, that I needed to come in person and that the install would take 24 hours. I cancelled my other install since this would be faster. We haven't had hot water in three weeks. I am in the store, now they are telling me $35 to go to my house, that I will need to wait 48 hours to get a call from a plumber and who knows when the actual install will happen. I have wasted five hours of my life running from work to my house during rush hour and over here. What a waste. They are fighting it out now. This is the height of unprofessionalism. Update- manager told me 78 hours for someone to go to my house for an estimate, then another few days to do the work, that the $395 install price given isn't right and there will be additional costs. Lowe's Farmingdale curb side pickup non-existent and not answering phones If you want curbside pickup at the Farmingdale Rt 110 store, it is non-existent. I ordered one item online, received notification that it was ready for pickup, and drove to the Farmingdale Lowe's. When I got there, I telephoned the pickup prompt, it rang at least 20 times. No one answered so I tried calling Customer Service. They are also not answering their phones. I have a lung issue, so this was my first time out of the house in 5 weeks, but since it's curbside, I thought it would be safe. HOWEVER, I had to go inside and while I was waiting for my order, the Customer Service phone rang several times, and the employee who was sitting with her back to the computer, finally got up and pressed the disconnect button. Extremely dangerous for my medical condition, and a horrendous experience. Plus, according to internet research, this store has several coronavirus employee infections., Home Depot is right across the street and I'll place my order there next time. read more

I went to Lowe's in Farmingdale yesterday to get some wood for a new project. John in the lumber department was very helpful in making sure I got good boards of lumber and took his time making all the cuts properly. It was so refreshing to get good service, God knows most people these days do the bare minimum to get by and really could care less about helping their customers. Great job Lowe's in hiring helpful and professional employees and thanks again John for going above and beyond! read more

Every time I think about shopping here instead of Home Depot, I'm immediately reminded how terrible the customer service is when you compare the two. The customer service culture is severely lacking. It's like the employees would rather stand around and chat than help you. Today, I needed one piece of oak plywood. I walked in and there were about 15 guys assembling barbecues blocking all the plywood. I went to the front where there was one woman, but she was busy, so I walked next door to where they make the keys. Three guys were standing around chatting and said they'd page someone. No one came. I went back to the lady, who I learned is Mary. She was nice, but I had to sternly express my dissatisfaction and point out again that barbecues were being assembled and there was only one piece of tattered oak plywood. As we went back, another man was angry, because he was told the extra oak would be brought down from above a week prior. Mary took my name and number as well as the measurements for how I need the wood cut. We'll see how it goes. I'm sure she means well, but based on how this store is managed, I doubt I'll be hearing from them. So instead, I'll write this review to tell others to just go to Home Depot. read more
