I am not a frequent customer of Lowes and have not been to Lowes in a while now. I was up in Albany and looking for a very specific item. I will definitely change that habit. As infrequently as I visit Lowes, they always have exactly what I am looking for, in this case, gutter guards. The all have a huge parking lot with centrally located handicapped parking. Very short walk to the store which was definitely very well stocked. Took a walk through the store afterwards to get an idea of what is now available. I was really impressed to that they now carry a full line of Craftman tools. I really never saw a spread of them like this, they had items that I had never seen before. They also had quite the collection of power tools. Many different manufacturers covering all price points. The team member I spoke with was extremely helpful and guided us perfectly to the area I needed to find the item(s) I was looking for. The store is clean and organized, easy to navigate. Lowe's Home Improvement - A VERY LARGE STORE! - Hardware Stores Near Me - Colonie, New York

Of all the home improvement/garden centers I've visited at least during the spring, Lowe's has (so far) the best setup. They seemed to be ahead of everyone else in terms of plants and outdoor supplies as well as patio furniture. The inside seems better organized too. They still don't have a lot of the less common plants I'm seeking, but they do actually have some of them available on their website (others don't), and I can order them online and have them delivered to the store for pickup. Actually, ordering some items online seems better. As well organized as I said the store was above, I don't think that applied to at least the doors. I found it a lot easier to fine what I wanted on an internet search than I could in the store. read more

Whatever you do, don't try to get Lowe's to install something like a door. I've been waiting for a phone call for 10 days since paying, just to set up the installation date. We started the whole process with picking out the door and getting measured nearly a month ago. Now I had to call their third party installers and they have told me my installer is off for the week of Thanksgiving. If that's the case, why did I have to call and find this out for myself? Most home improvement stores are large and the staff is unhelpful. Today I stopped at Lowe's to pick up a bulb auger. For those that aren't big gardeners it's a tool you use to dig holes for bulbs. I couldn't find it where the website said it was and the guy in tools was incredibly unhelpful. Josh at the service desk spent 10 minutes searching for it and I finally walked out with what I needed. In my book Josh is a rock star, he could have just said that it couldn't be found but instead he hunted it down for me. I don't usually get that kind of service in a big box store. read more

I own a home within a few miles of this Lowes and have used this store for all of my home improvement needs. I find this store to be nice and organized, easy to navigate, bright and helpful. All the staff I have worked with have been very helpful and knowledgeable. I have gotten everything from tools, window shutters, a dryer, a hot water heater, etc from here. I find the prices here to be great. Even if the items are not in store, shopping online and shipping to stores has been pretty seamless. And if anything has gone wrong, the staff/management is always around to help. I would always choose Lowes over the competitors in the area! read more

I had a fence installed around my pool in 2018. The install was supposed to be completed in April, but after Lowe's having two subcontractors quit, it wasn't installed until November. The vinyl gates were installed without attaching them to 4x4 posts in the vinyl. Within 6 months the gates had, all 4, broken due to them only being screwed into the thin plastic with no wood for support. All handles also ripped out of the vinyl, within a year, due to them not using anchors. I tried to contact Lowe's and could not get a return call or email. I now have to replace all gates as they had all broken off completely in less than three years. I would never recommend Lowe's for any installation project. Not only did they not have qualified installers, but they also did not even try to rectify the situation. read more

Do not shop and use your credit card at Lowes Northway mall. I have experienced fraudulent credit card charges. It has been going on since August 2023 and still can not get Lowes to fix it. Emily manager of appliance department has no control over her sales people, and very uncooperative in help with this situation. I purchased a new refrigerator from Lowe's in May, 2023. It was installed in June. I almost missed the delivery because they gave me the wrong time. But my real problem is that one of the double doors does not shut properly. I have tried calling the help number and was told that I only had 48 hours to report an installation problem. They then referred me to Samsung. I have been on a text (not phone) chat for an hour and a half and am not close to solving my problem. Since moving to the area, I have been to this Lowe's about a half a dozen times already. While I used to think most Lowe's were the same, I have discovered that this isn't true anymore. I get the fact that inside each interior seems to be laid out differently from every other Lowe's (my favorites are the ones in Latham and Clifton Park, and all three are different) so that you inevitably walk through the entire store looking for something (and heaven help you if you have the layout of Home Depot in your mind when you go into a Lowe's) but it still is frustrating. Worse, this one doesn't carry everything that the Lowe's in Latham does. How do I know? Because I bought extra electrical supplies (outlets, switches, etc.) from the one in Latham and tried to return them in Colonie and was told that I couldn't because they didn't stock them. True enough, when I tried to find them on the shelves they weren't there. It was very odd. Finally, there are rare occasions when I need to rent a Lowe's pick-up truck to bring home some over-sized lumber. Unfortunately, this Lowe's doesn't have a truck... and I only realized that after I had purchased the long boards! I guess that was my fault, but again there isn't much consistency between the different Lowe's. Since the one in Latham stocks more and has a truck you can rent, I like that one better. read more

Two weeks ago, I selected carpet for my stairway at the Lowe's of Colonie. Derek, an associate in the flooring department, helped me select the carpet and padding, gave me dates when the carpet would arrive and gave me exact dates when the installers would call. Even though this is a small job, Derek gave this project the attention I needed because of my short window to get this project done. If you need an knowledgeable, friendly associate in the flooring department who will schedule correctly to get the job done, ask for Derek. Without exaggeration, he's the best associate I've ever worked with at any Lowe's. And he ended his lunch break early when I returned the samples to finish the paperwork. Now, that is service. Well, they did it again. This time the appliance guy was Max. He was fantastic. Once again, I called around, looking for a local appliance store option for a competitively priced version of the dishwasher I wanted. I was even willing to be convinced to buy some other dishwasher in the same price range. Lowe's won out. Fair and square. While I had to pay out of pocket for the installation, there was a rebate to get the value back on a Visa gift card. For some reason the rebate wasn't working when I tried to activate it online. But with a quick call to the Lowe's customer service line, it was fixed in a jiffy. Seriously, everyone at every step of the way was on top of their game. All except maybe the local installer. The installation service was great, it just took a good bit longer than expected to get my appointment. Hopefully, I won't have to do this again in another seven years. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this dishwasher lasts longer. But I hear that seven years is about average for dishwashers these days. Even quality ones. That part makes me grumpy, but I can't blame my local Lowe's for the decline in manufacturing standards. read more

Ordered a dryer online two days ago with fulfillment from this store. Delivery date curiously absent, kept checking order status. Called support (waited 47 min to connect), rep told me earliest delivery was mid-August. NOTHING in the online ordering process suggested a delay like this! Very bad service. No one knows anything. No one can help with sales. No point in going in the store. Tried to spend 4000 in appliances they could not help me told me to go online. Turns out online doesn't offer the same discounts. Then a week later big dewalt sale tried to buy a tool set and get a bare tool free like the giant sign said. I was told that they can't do that that it's not in the flyer and that the sign is wrong. So I left all my items there. I will never go to this Lowe's again. Went in for a replacement toilet. Had a special 10" rough in size I needed. Not a common stock item. Had a hard time finding it, until Dan the sales associate assisted. This guy knows his business. Wow, what a train wreck. Last night, I searched online for a new vanity top and found just what I was looking for at Lowes's - for a low price of $159. So today, I borrowed my wife's SUV and headed over to pick it up (at the Lowe's in Albany near Northway Mall). After searching a while, I found the exact model that was advertised online, but it was a little higher on the shelf than I could safely reach alone. So I walked around and an associate met me and asked if he could help. I explained that I just needed help getting something off the shelf and he told me to go and wait for him. So I did. For a while. Meanwhile, another couple comes down the same aisle and starts looking at vanities. After a lot of time goes by, I go off to find my would-be helper again and find that he has chose to help another couple instead. So I patiently wait for him to finish with them and then ask if he is still able to help me or if I should find someone else. He tells me he has to get a piece of equipment to help and that I should go back and wait, which I do. A few minutes later, he rolls up in some kind of lift thing. He sees that the other couple has turned around the vanity they have been examining and tells them "they attach those to the wall so people don't turn them around!". Man from couple replies that "it wasn't attached to the wall and we just want to make sure it will fit where we want to put it". Sales rep admonishes them once more and tells them to be careful to not break anything. Then move his lift in place, and tries to operate it. Then he looks at me forlornly and simply says, "I can't work here anymore". I realize he is really planning on quitting so I stare him down. I mean I look into this guy's eyes and I'm not going to let him off the hook. I don't blink, and just keep looking at him until he says, "this won't work, I have to get a different one". So I tell him (in my most supportive voice), "it's OK, we have some time. I'm sure you'll get it next time and we can get through this together!". So he goes away and the couple turns to me and we wonder out loud how Lowes can stay in business. The I ask the gentleman if he can help me get my vanity top down, so he obliges and I am again on my way. As I walk toward the checkout, I encounter the associate with yet another lift who looks at my with disappointment that I have been able to help myself at last. I apologize that we couldn't have found him sooner. Then I get to the checkout. When they ring me up, the price is $209 (not $159 as printed on the online screenshot I took for reference). I question the checkout associate about this and she looks at my sheet and explains that the $159 price is for the Glenmont Lowes, not the Northway Lowes. Because I'm surprised by this news, I ask if it is true that there are different prices at each Lowes and she tells me this is true for "some items". Now I can understand that if a Lowes is in Hawaii, the price on things might be higher than perhaps in Georgia, due to shipping concerns. But these two stores are about 20 miles apart and there is a 25% difference between them. From my perspective, the Northway Lowes is not some oasis where they serve you drinks and massage your back while you shop for paint and toilets. No; it is a store with a crummy associate who is ill managed and surly to his customers. Certainly not worth some 25% premium over a different Lowes. Home Depot, here I come!!!!! read more

Not too long ago i purchased carpeting from "the other" big hardware store, said carpeting is now long gone after some issues I had with it. I will spare you the details, it's the stuff of nightmares and total urban legend status. If you happen to have carpeting from this store in your home, I don't want to worry you. Jack from flooring was very helpful. He answered all of my questions and was very patient with me. I wanted something as "green" as possible, durable, and something good for kids and pets. I ended up choosing SmartStrand by DuPont. It's made from corn... cool, right? As an added bonus, it's also made in the USA. It takes 2 weeks to get the order filled, but I'm getting what I want and something I'm happy with, so I don't mind the wait. Only complaint I have is, one sales person per department. I had to wait a bit to have a turn with the salesperson. It's the summer, lots of people are doing work on their homes, so I don't think it would be a loss in profits for Lowe's to add some extra help this time of year. read more

Ordered a washer and dryer from here. When they delivered they forgot the dryer legs, so I've been calling for the past 3 WEEKS. Spoke with Darlene the manager 4 times who took my information down each time and told me Tina in appliances would be contacting me. I've also tried calling the store every other night and ask for Tina and have to leave a message since she's not available. Still haven't heard back. Customer service at this store is horrible, at this point I will definitely be contacting someone with more authority since no one seems to call anyone back or know how to do there job. If you're just looking to make a straightforward purchase of something (flowers, lightbulbs, simple tool, etc.), it's an okay store, if you can stomach three of four self-check-out lanes being out of service, which is typical. If you need competent assistance with appliances or other costly items, you are out of luck here. Don't bother trying to call in and reach a specific department, either. I want to start off by saying that my initial experience with Lowe's in Colonie NY was great. We were placing a very large contractor order. They couldn't do enough for us. And even up to the end of the process things were looking good. BEWARE.... there were a lot of things that occurred that the staff didn't know or alert us about the delivery process. Like the will deliver your order but don't carry it in, they drop off at the "curb". They have you sign an invoice and NO copy for you the customer. The invoice states nothing about it half of the order was on back order. Once we used our order receipt to check it in that's when we found half of the missing, special paint not done - nothing mixed and a sand mixture to add to your paint for slip resistant - ordered 3 bags, 1 was open marked for store use. So upset, that I had to go to the store to straighten it out with the manager. Oh yeah, did I mention that I live approximately 35 minutes from the store. Now, I will say this the manager the night we went in was attentive, understanding and extremely helpful. But unfortunately too little to late. I will NEVER use Lowe's again. BEWARE!! read more

Bought a Riding Mower and 3 outdoor sitting to be delivered. Mower arrived and 1 outdoor sitting to my disappointment. Delivery man told me to call Lowe's. Called Lowe's, manager wasn't around, I was asked to wait then call was disconnected. I set-up the mower, read the manual and followed every step. Riding mower was started and driven out of driveway to mowe. I turned off mower to grab something. Went back to the brand new mower to start using it. Mower won't start. Read and re-read manual. Everything was done right yet mower will not start again. Called Lowe's again and call was transferred to manager. Call was disconnected. Called again 3x and was transferred to a person who took my name, number and hung-up the phone. I was shocked. I can not believe this horrible experience. read more

This is the second Lowes store Ive tried to shop in . Went early thinking it would be easier...hah. First though the shelves are full of stock there isnt a single person to assist ask a question or help. When I did find some one they are either belligerent like they hadn't had their coffee yet or just not interested in helping; one actually said hey why dont you just go on line.... All their tv ads with friendly helpful sales people is simple nonsense. Who manages these stores and who trains these kids? So instead of seeing $1,000 on the things I needed I spent $14.00 and actually got a smile and a thank you from the check out girl. Had an absolutely terrible experience at this location. You lost one star for every five minutes I had to wait the unattended paint counter. Spoke to three different people at customer service, multiple pages were made to have someone come help - no one came. Don't go to this location if you need any help whatsoever. He went above and beyond to help me acquire the tools and better design techniques that I needed for my project. He even went so far as to bring me to the Lumber department and cut my wood for me. ordered lumber and supplies 3days later they cancelled part of order but did not give option to substitute with similar item they had stock. Did'nt notify me one item was three weeks out. one partial delivery arrived two days ago, one partial delivery arrived yesterday and one partial delivery was scheduled from another store but after waiting all day for it it never showed up! poorest customer service I ever experienced! If what you want from Lowes is not in stock, just walk out the door. We ordered decking and were given a delivery date and when the delivery didn't happen, we called Lowes and were simply told "oh we never deliver an order that large on a Saturday.". Then we were given an eta of May 1st. Today, April 30th, we stopped in to confirm tomorrows delivery and we were told they cancelled our delivery because Lowe's changed suppliers for that product...but we will give you gift cards for the value of the order. That's twice that we had a crew lined up to do the work and twice Lowes stiffed us without giving us the courtesy of a phone call. Their delivery service has a complete disconnect from the store and if they screw up your plans, good luck hearing about it until you go looking. If you want to open a credit card account tho... So, just to update; Lowes gave us a new ETA of May 6th. When we called in the morning of May 6th to ask if we could get it in the morning, they said they think so, and if anything happened that would change that, they would give us a call. The delivery did not arrive at all on May 6...and they did not call us. This morning, May 7th, they said we should have it this afternoon. read more

I'm disgusted by the useless employees at Lowe's in general. They basically called me a thief because I do not have a receipt to exchange less than $30 in items. My business partner bought them with cash. I needed to exchange them for the proper items they would not do it. I am disgusted by the way I was talk to. This review is for carpet installation from the Colonie, NY Lowes. We just had our stairway, hall, & 3 bedrooms done and these two guys did an incredible job. Lowes uses Olympic Flooring and this company does all of the region for them. These two guys were nice, courteous, and professional. During my showing of the new carpet, I opened up my closet doors to see that they also fixed them!!! I knew they needed adjusting but we didn't know how to do it. Dealing with the ordering was a bit of pain as you have to wait for someone to assess the property (this is standard), then they total up the costs at Lowes and call you to pay & schedule. The price was off and after going there and talking to another clerk, she quickly realized he had added up carpet padding in sq footage instead of linear footage (always check). Minus the minor hiccup, this process went very smoothly and it's worth giving 5 stars for. read more
