For a long time, Lowes was a hassle. Over the past year or so, they've changed remarkably. More staff, better inventory, more selection of things that I need as a homeowner and gardener. Where it was gruesome, people are helpful, there's enough staff, their prices are average to insane-- which is normal these days. I don't mind going there. Kliendorfer's is still the best for hardware-- unbeatable. But for a lot of items in the home improvement and gardening areas, Lowes has become useful. I do not go to Menards. No way. Too much shoddy products in the lumber yard. read more

I have to come here because this store stocks trash compactor bags and the Mooresville Lowe's store does not. But it is only a 15 minute drive from south Martinsville using the new I-69. Their stores have been rearranged lately but I am learning the layout and the staff has been helpful asking me if I need help finding something before I have to ask on multiple visits. I have always liked that about Lowe's. Lowe's does a good job keeping their stores clean and items out of the aisles so you can navigate with the large carts. I also love the Minute Key Kiosks! They are automated key copying machines and I have never had one fail on me so far after having a lot of keys copied. read more

Lowe's Home Improvement - Merry Christmas - Hardware Stores Near Me - Bloomington, Indiana

There are some things that you need to know before choosing to do business and spend your hard earned money at Lowes. I am specifically speaking about the Bloomington, IN location. The message that I received today was loud and clear, when it comes to customer service, their hands are tied, and that's no way to run a business. I'll keep this as direct, factual, and unbiased as I can, as I am upset, and I should be. I purchased a Kobalt battery powered chainsaw on 4/12/25, as I had a small fallen tree and a few low branches to remove from my property. The saw initially worked great, and held its charge for the advertised duration. No damage occurred to the saw. No moisture, no misuse, no issues what so ever. The next day, I went out to finish the project and the saw had simply stopped working. I troubleshot the battery, the charger, checked the emergency break, but nothing would work. The battery was not the issue as it functioned properly in my Kobalt weed eater. I decided that it was time to return the product with the goal being to replace the saw with a functional model. Today, 4/18/25 I returned to the Bloomington Lowes with my receipt, my ID and debt card used in the initial transaction as well as the battery charger, original battery pack, and complete packaging. I believed that all of my bases were covered, and had no worries about the provider handling my return but quickly found out that they had other plans. Issue #1: They choose to step away from me and contact a member of management without even explaining what the complication was, which was extremely awkward. Issue #2: Management never arrived, as a young lady that seemingly had more experience stepped in and frowned, looked at the receipt and said that I would need to contact Kobalt, and followed with "there is nothing we can do." We stood there in silence for a good 30 seconds until I broke the silence and said "So that's it, there's nothing else that I can do?" And the employees refused to even make eye contact with me as they plainly said "No sir, there isn't." After asking if the receipt was the issue, or they found a problem with the saw's condition they informed me that the saw could only be returned 48 hours after the purchase, which I had never heard of. So I left and choose to seek another route while trying not to get rude or upset, because at this point, I had remained very professional. Issue #3: I contacted the store manager from my vehicle in the parking lot and explained the situation calmly and thoroughly. She informed me that the 48 hour policy was roughly 2 months old and she had no ability to override the transaction on a store level. Only if I were to acquire a code # from the producer "Kobalt", which is owned by Lowes, could she remedy the situation. I repeat, the store manager had no ability to exchange a 6 day old product with a receipt, in pristine cosmetic condition, whit all the bells and whistles, and that was that. I'm stuck with a $200.00 product that worked for roughly 2 hours, and a wasted trip due to a new return policy that I was truly unaware of. Note that this policy is nowhere to be found on the receipt, and online searches revealed the previous policy of a 90 day guaranteed satisfaction, no hassle return policy which can be found at this web address. https://www.lowes.com/pdf/Kobalt_Warranty.pdf read more

I had a great experience at this Lowe's location! I had come in for boxes, but entered through the garden. To no surprise, I ended up taking a new plant home because they had such a great selection of indoor plants! In addition, all of their plants in the garden sections looked like they were really well taken care of which is great to see. As I was getting my boxes, one of the employees, Jim, saw that I was having trouble carrying them with my plant. He generously offered to walk and grab me a cart, which was extremely helpful! I definitely will be coming back to this Lowe's for all of my gardening things and anything else I might need! read more

Out-of-state mom here. Went to Lowe's no less than 10 times in the past three days. Have no idea where anything is walked up to the first associate I saw and they were able to answer all my needs, walked up and down each item until I was able to get all the items on my list. On the very last day, it turned out we needed to get a washer installed and old unit taken away -- Add 30 minutes to walk in make a purchase and get out and in order to catch my flight staff was amazing to deal with and have nothing but great things to say about each person I made contract with on my 10 visits. Thank you Lowe's. read more

Lowe's is the worst store to get installation or delivery of Appliances, once you have bought them. We bought 4 major appliances Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas Range and Microwave from OTIS in Bloomington, IN in May 2023. We were told they will deliver sometime in July 2023, which was ok by us but after June we started calling to get exact date of delivery so we can be prepared with our Kitchen. Well, after calling 10 to 11 times and leaving messages on their answering system, we did not get any response. We managed to get hold of one guy in the after driving to the store. He told me they will get back to us on delivery date. Then in one late evening in July (9th of July)...we got a message on our voice mail that delivery will be made next day between 12 Pm and 4 Pm. We tried to call back the number of delivery office (by the way, Lowe's subcontracts its delivery to some company called Diakon), but no one answered. so, I decided that I will call them next morning before they deliver the Appliances but they arrived at 9 am with no notice. There were inexperienced and novice - 2 young boys who did not know how to drive properly and hit the big Bradford Pear tree and broke a large Branch. Instead of bringing a small van, they had driven a huge truck. Then they brought all the appliances but we were not ready in the kitchen, so they stored all appliance in the Garage except Refrigerator, which they brought in the kitchen. In the process they damaged the door frame of our main entrance. Then they refused to connect water line and Electric chord stating it was not their job. I called Lowe's store and they talked to them but except for electric chord connection, the left without installing water lines or handles. I complained to the Lowe's store but they asked me to send the pictures which we did. We ended up paying an outside handy man for connecting water line, installing handles on the Refrigerator and fixing the door damage. It cost us over $250. No action was taken by Lowe's to compensate us or showed any remorse. In the future, we do not want to buy any Appliances from Lowe's and if anyone is planning to buy any appliances, they should think twice. read more

As a former employee, I have made every attempt to avoid shopping here. I hate it. The number one reason had been the unreasonably long checkout lines that would be generated as only a couple of registers would be open. Unfortunately, they are one of only a few choices in town for appliances. I had ordered a washer online, expecting it tomorrow. In the past, delivery would call the evening before to give you an idea of what time to expect them. I called the store to get some info. I chose the delivery option from the menu. No answer. Back to the main menu. I chose the operator, two or three times. No answer. I called the 800 number for delivery. No answer. Wow. Finally, I called the main customer service line. The person was very helpful and was able to contact the store manager. They were then told no information would be available until the next morning. In other words, I'm expected to keep my entire day free to accommodate them. I eventually canceled my order after finding out that when I order from Best Buy, they will let me know when I order when I can expect delivery. I found this out because when I called the store, they PICKED UP THE PHONE. Lesson: simply do NOT ever shop at this store. Menards is SO much better!! read more

A simple order for an IU department turned into a complicated headache. Poor communication necessitated calls for clarification, but that entailed long wait times and getting transferred around, then repeatedly being asked for the same information. Was not notified that an Item that was in stock when the order went through was actually out of stock and would be delayed (found out by chance when dealing with another issue). A few people I spoke with seemed genuinely interested in helping (the others were either too busy or clearly didn't care). Staff are laboring under a poorly-designed record-keeping system. Was told the 3rd party delivery they now use means any delivery questions or concerns are out of their hands. read more

Mark G. This is the worst company ever. Baught a washer and dryer nov. 29th. Delivery was set up for Dec, 2 between 10:30am and 2:30pm lowes truck showed on the 2nd about 11am and opened the back door to unload. The dryer had a giant dent in it so I refussed to take it, They moved the washer to my basement and said someone would contact me about the dryer. while waiting for a call I tried out the washer, it shook so bad on rinse cycle I was afraid to stand beside it. To make a long nightmare shorter its now dec.7th and after 20 or more phone call and many trips back to the store I still dont have any dryer or whasher. read more

Came here to exchange an item that I got the wrong size in and was amazed at how easily my transactions occurred. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes! My return was so easy and went very smooth. I appreciate how clearly marked the aisles are so it was very easy to go and find the product I was searching for. I did self checkout after I located what I needed so that was fast and easy as well. read more

I've been jerked around, lied to, and left waiting for 3 weeks on delivery of goods for a deck project. They've changed my delivery date 5 times, never once calling to notify me of any delays. They have, however, charged and returned my purchase amount so many times that my debit card has now blocked them as fraudulent attempts. What a terrible, terrible establishment. I'm esacalating my complaint up their corporate ladder. At the minimum, the store manager needs fired. How this place stays in business is beyond me. The total lack of communications, not only to their customers, but within their store hierarchy, is outrageous. Never, ever again will I spend a dollar in these doors. I'll go without first...that's how I am anyway with their service. read more

Absolute, unequivocal incompetence and laziness. The woman at the cash register didn't even know what a 2x4 is. She didn't know what ANYTHING is. She quoted wrong prices, claimed that boards that were not even ten feet away from her, didn't exist. We were told that everyone had gone on break but one person, and instead of helping us, he walked away to chat with someone else, he wouldn't help at all. In one trip, there were at least thirty good reasons that we will always visit Menards from now on. read more

Placed an order (April 2022) for replacement windows. Lowes sent Jason Osborne to measure. 6 months later the Pella windows came in. All 4 windows were measured wrong. 3 of 4 windows could not be installed. The 4th was forced in, but the installer did not put the exterior back on the house. We have requested they put the exterior of the house back together. Now, the reorder for replacements (for the inappropriately measured windows) is delayed another 3 (projected February 2023) months. That, of course, is if they are really ordered and actually come in. They did not remeasure before reordering. The excuse from the store is the person who measured is no longer an employee and they have a file of mistakes they are working through......... and we are just in line with their other mistakes. Calls are not returned. We have to go to the store to communicate and get updates. read more

Can we talk about poor service....bought a dishwasher on October 21, 1018 with 3 year warranty...The problem is in order to prove I bought it when the repairman comes I need to show him bill of sale after they were able to pull up the sales information...to top it off the want me to pay $85.00 for a service call...(really). Next repairmen is coming between 12 and 5, is my time not valuable? If after 3 trips to fix it they will replace it....what about aggravation and down time? I'm sure this means nothing! I have always favored Lowe's over the other big box home improvement store in town, but they've lost me over time. A trip to Lowe's is never a quick affair. I wait sometimes for half an hour or more for help. Today, I pushed the "need service" button repeatedly, with no response. I finally walked to the front and had customer service call someone. Still nothing. I went back to customer service and expressed my displeasure firmly, and they called for a manager this time. 3 or 4 minutes later, someone sauntered casually up, in no hurry, looking from side to side at the things he passed. And not a manager. I thinkit was a coincidence that he came along. VERY frustrating. The other store also has a much broader selection of almost everything. Lowe's will be my last resort from now on. read more

Half the customers in the store do not wear masks (June 2020), and I worry about exposure on busy days. Some staff wear their mask below their nose. Menard's, on the other hand, requires all customers to wear masks. Lowe's is often out of stock on items I want--Menard's and Kleindorfer's do better. read more

In this current pandemic, Lowes Bloomington is not doing enough! You have to walk into the store to get a pickup order with no operation set up outside to facilitate this. After walking inside today, there were 9 sales associates in the return area and they were so close together they had to move each other around to talk to the next customer. Lowes needs to restrict the number of people in the store at any given time, give their associates gloves and masks, and instruct their employees in social distancing. Otherwise, this virus will hit hard in Bloomington and Lowes will be a part of this spread. read more

The lady helping with cabinets.... Don't even waste her time or yours. That's how she'll make you feel. The TWO times (different years) we would wait and wait for her to look up (even though she had to sense we were standing by her desk) and mind you both times ZERO customers were there but us, and when she finally waits on us, her answers were short and blunt like she was being annoyed. OR, what you asked seemed idiotic to her. I've never seen my patient, quiet husband so mad or unnerved by an employee; that's why I'm writing this. I've worked in restaurants, as a secretary, and then a teacher and she's just a poor representative for a business; especially, in a position to work so closely with people. Warning: Go to another business to design your kitchen! read more

It's like Home Depot, but not orange. One nice feature, they are going to an all on-ine system for receipts so you can return things even if you lose the receipt. Even better, if you buy paint they keep track of it for you so you can get color matching without having to bring in a paint color sample. read more

This is the max score I can imagine giving a big box store. It has all the limitations you expect from a giga-store, but the people are great. They are available, have good attitudes, are courteous and actually know what they're talking about most of the time. I get a military discount, but was unaware until the guy at the checkout noticed my ID in my billfold. The impressive thing isn't the discount, although that's a huge reason to come back, but that an employee took the extra time to help me get said discount. I would give five stars, but it's still a Lowes. They sell chisels but not sharpening stones, block planes but not jack planes, and much of the merchandise is junk. i.e. It's a box box store. read more

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT EVER BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM LOWES. They do not honor it. You spend hours on the phone and running back and forth to the store only to be out your money. They have an arbitration clause in the agreement. So you have to hire a lawyer and take them to court to get your money back. How many people read the whole thing in the store, I'm pretty sure even the employees haven't. So after several hours out merchandise and the extended warranty that was paid for. It used to be a great store. read more

JANE IS A BEAST! I have never experienced such a hideous display of negativity and general ugliness from an associate working in a customer service related business before. As we attempted to return a broken blind with a lifetime warranty we were argued with and insulted by Jane for doing so. She actually put her face in her hands and shook her head upon being asked to help by another associate. I wish I would have caught the young lady's name that assisted Jane b/c she was a pleasure. Clearly Jane does not like customers bothering her. I hope to never interact with her again. In fact, we had other shopping to do at that time but her attitude was so disgusting that we left and went to Menards. The customer service is a MILLION times better at Menadrs! Get that lady some Lexapro and an attitude adjustment stat. read more

So just tried to get a quote for some wood and went up to the counter and asked the lady if she could get us someone to get us a quote, and she tells us no one is there to help us, everyone has left already. Didn't seem to concerned to help us at all, we have the exact measurements and how much lumber we need just needed someone to punch it into the computer. After 2 years I am still waiting for replacement for 3 cabinet doors that are warped. I have called and called and spoke to both Bloomington and Indianapolis. Both places promised me my issue would be resolved on at least 5 or 6 different occasions! As of now....still no calls to take care of my doors. I'm not usually a fan of writing bad reviews, but their customer service is horrible. I have taken off 2 days of work to have a washer/dryer delivered, and neither day a dryer has come. The first day they didn't even bother to call and tell me that the washer/dryer wasn't coming. I had to call them, and they say it was damaged. They admit they forgot to call.. They set it up for the next day to be delivered. The second day comes and the next dryer is damaged. I find that hard to believe but who knows. Now I am setup for 8 days later to have a washer and dryer delivered because they have to get one from the warehouse. Lets hope it actually comes........... read more

No one, including the managers, have any idea what is going on. No one can tell me when my windows I ordered will be in, but they can tell me the windows have been built for 2 weeks at the time of the call. Walking in the store is the same story, everyone is clueless, chain of command/leadership is nearly non existent and makes for a terrible place to work for people who actually have home improvement skills. The good employees are often overwhelmed and over worked so, as customers, we rarely see good employees. Menards isn't much better, but I will try my hardest to shop any where but Lowe's. This is the only review I have written this year and that is only because the customer service at Lowe's is so terrible. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, just about all the employees and managers I've interacted with have been knowledgeable, very helpful, friendly, with a very good attitude, and generally on the ball. The downside is that the store is too often a mess. Aisles and displays are not kept well-organized and ship-shape, and with many items, the quantities available are low. The lighting department especially is an awful mess. In other markets, I find the Home Depots are like this, while the Lowes stores are cleaner, better organized, and more attractive. By that standard, this store is sub par. read more

EDIT: Lowes responded to my review on Twitter and fixed the issue with construction debris! Original Review: Lowes installed a new fence. Purchased a Bosch dishwasher at Lowe's. Was told that the packaging was damaged so they took it off for us and checked out the dishwasher and it looked fine to them. Got the dishwasher home and discovered the outside packaging inside the dishwasher stating that it was to be installed for "Joe Smith". Got to checking more and the dishwasher line had water in it and discovered that there was water in the bottom of the dishwasher where it had been ran. Immediately returned it to the store that we purchased it from and no one at the service desk was surprised that they had sold us a used dishwasher and presented it as a new one. Will NEVER purchase another appliance from them or anything else for that matter. read more

As with any big box hardware store, I have a love-hate relationship with Lowe's. I like seeing their large selection of goods, browsing their nursery and dreaming about someday owning every type of tool they have. Alas, like Charlie visiting Willy Wonka's factory, going off the tour path sheds the well-lit veneer and unveils the ugly truth. I needed to buy a piece of plywood cut to certain specifications, and since I didn't feel like buying more equipment to cut it, I decided to engage their "customer service" to take advantage of their free cutting service. Normally I wouldn't take such drastic measures, but Menard's didn't provide free cutting service. I asked 3 sales associates to send someone over to their cutting station, but more than 20 minutes later, there wasn't a single employee in the lumber section. Finally, an employee came by because they were with another customer and I managed to flag him down to help me. Ultimately, the cut wasn't exactly to my specifications, but I was so eager to get out of that evil place that I'm more than willing to make the corrections myself. In hindsight, I partly blame myself for degrading myself to shopping at Lowe's. In the future, I'll be giving my business to local stores and hope for a better outcome. read more

I bought a refrigerator recently and set up a day for delivery. They had called the day before to remind me of the delivery. When that day finally came, I waited until nearly 5:00 - no delivery, no phone call. I called them to ask about the status of the delivery, and only then was I informed that they were out of stock of that particular refrigerator, but they would have it the next day. On the day I bought it, I was assured then that the item was in stock. Even more rich was the fact that the woman I talked to about the lack of delivery seemed incredulous and dismayed that I was even complaining about an entire day wasted waiting on a nondelivery without even so much as a phone call. At least if their delivery department were being run by the Marx Brothers, there might be a few laughs here. read more

I ordered a fridge online and the fulfilling store was Bedford, IN. On the supposed delivery date, Bedford Lowes told me the fridge had been delivered to the Bloomington store. Never again! Lowes used to be my go to store for everything home related, that was until I had them put flooring down. Take my advice, if you want flooring go to flooring store! Just had a really bad experience at Lowes Bloomington. Full disclosure right up front. I had purchased blinds for my entire home in Dec '18. I did it intentionally because I didn't want to have to try to match blinds if they quit carrying them. I did hang on to my receipt. I moved into my home in Dec '18 and have been working on remodeling as I can between working full time. I finally got my living room done. I had purchased both 34" and 35" wide blinds because whoever installed the windows didn't do the best job and I wasn't sure which would fit. I ended up using the 35" blinds and decided to return the 34" ones. They refused my return. The blinds were brand new, still in the original packaging and unopened. Additionally, they still carry these in-stock in the store. I asked to speak to the manager who refused to come to the front and sent some substitute cashier. I explained the situation to her and she refused to return them. I told her I could have come in without the receipt and they would have returned them no problem. She just said that was their policy. I'm still working on my home. I had planned to purchase six interior six-panel doors, a new front entry door and a new storm door along with several other items for the house. You can bet after the experience I had Lowes won't be getting my business. read more

Be very cautious when buying a large ticket item from this store if it needs assembly and/or delivery. We bought a Weber Genesis grill on a Friday afternoon. We were sold on the deal by the fact that they were offering assembly and delivery included with the price ($699). We arranged a time on Sunday morning for delivery and even got a call on Saturday to confirm the time, very nice. When Sunday arrived, you guessed it, no grill. We called the number provided and were told that nobody assembled the grill on Saturday so it would be at least Tuesday before we could get the grill. Nobody can assemble the grill on Sunday? Assuming this was not due to religious objections on a Sunday, it seems as if there are probably plenty of "handy" people working at Lowe's who could get it assembled and delivered before the store closed in 6 hours. No luck - he even tried to avoid responsibility by saying it didn't look as if we had paid for assembly! Bear in mind the initial excuse was that nobody had assemble it on Saturday and that our receipt clearly showed assembly and delivery were included. Called customer service and got a nice apology and the "let me check into it and I'll call you back." Unfortunately she didn't bother to get our number so I'm still waiting for that call back.........based on other reviews "customer service" might not be their strength. read more
