The location is close to Batsto Visitor center. The bar has that local feel where you'd drop by after work to wind down your day with good food at a great price and drinking your libation of choice. The bartenders make you feel welcome and at home right off the bat. The garlic cream cheese burger was different. The bun was delicious and tasted homemade, the lettuce and tomatoes were a good compliment. Their fries!!!! Skin on and just the right crisp to give. No ketchup needed. But I felt it complimented the burger. The star of the meal? One of three beverage options you can only get there. It's a whisky based cocktail with raspberry. Refreshing and tasty. I can't recall the name at the moment, but this will definitely be the place I head to after my walks at the park from now on. The four stars is simply because the burger was cooked to perfection for me but the garlic cheese topping was missing something I could not put my finger on. I wanted to try Lower Bank Tavern again before writing the yelp review. Although our experience with the Lower Bank Tavern goes way back, we just hadn't been there in a while. The first time we went back was on a Sunday to see the Lower Bank Kustoms, which is a local Rockabilly band. We sat outside and watched the band, getting beers from the outside bartender. The beer selection is fine, but consists of mostly domestics with a few popular imports, think Heineken, but unfortunately not much craft beer. The bartender asked us if we wanted food and gave us two menus. The bartender was really good and kept on top of our drinks and meal. As we were looking at the menu, we had a few of the locals tell us what was good. They were super nice and helpful. I had heard of their burgers being good, so I mentioned to my wife to get one. I'm a pescatarian, so I usually stick to fish or vegetarian options, so I got the smothered veggie burger. My wife got the horseradish cheddar bacon burger, which she enjoyed. My veggie burger was great. Loved the sauteed onions and mushrooms. The fries are also very good. For an app, we ordered the fried olives, which were awesome. For our second trip we went for lunch and ate inside. As mentioned in some other reviews the place is very rustic. Our bartender was great. She made my step daughter a margarita which she really liked. She also kept on top of our drinks and food. I once again got the fried olives and smothered veggie burger because they were so good the first time. My wife again enjoyed her burger, this time getting the mexican burger. My step daughter got the roast beef sandwich which she really enjoyed. The atmosphere is great, lots of friendly locals which we ended up having some great conversations with. It's obviously a locals bar/tavern in the middle of the pines out in nowhere land. We arrived around 5:00 on a Sunday- a party of 4. Service? Excellent! Waitress was busy at the bar but very attentive. Chances are you'll get beer in a bottle which is fine, soda in plastic cups... all fine with me. As for the food well... it's bar food- burgers, chicken fingers etc. they did a few dinner selections. Appetizers were hot and delicious and finished. Burgers? Unbelievably good. I was full in my belly when I left. Again... the waitress. Barely finished my beer and she was ready with a second as if she knew I wanted one. Asked if we wanted dessert or more drinks. Lately we haven't received such great service (I think her name was Chrissy). This was Sunday December 8th. If you want a no frills, piney dining experience this is THE place to go. There are a few tables, a decent but full with patrons bar, a pool table and little else. A bar TV, a jukebox, and some really good tunes playing. The wings weren't that great and despite what people say, the bartenders won't acknowledge you if they don't know you or you're not a regular alcoholic. Love going here and enjoy the atmosphere! Food is awesome and always fresh. French Fries are Hand cut and always very good. Not had anything that was not enjoyed. We frequent here often, and the Woodstove is a big thing for me in the colder Months. Bartenders are always very polite, and I never wait for a Beer or the people with me ever have to ask. Billy is the owner and always comes out to greet folks whether he knows you or not. Cheesesteaks are my favorite here. Everyone always raves about the burgers. Fresh made burger on a good Kaiser roll with a pile of fries. Between that and the fried pickles and fried corn nuggets we ordered for appetizers, I practically rolled out the car when we finished. Prices are ridiculously cheap for the quality of the food they're serving. The menu isn't extensive, mainly bar food, but they do it well. I can't wait to go again. read more

The hand cut fries are the best around, the lower bank burger with chipotle aioli sauce is awesome (we substitute a turkey burger), and they always have great specials. It is true what the past review said. Don't let the motorcycles, road house atmosphere fool you. This is a gem in the middle of the woods. Billy the owner has gone out of his way to serve only the best food around. No matter what you order, especially the hamburgers, you won't be disappointed. two of us stopped here on the way back from a hike, pretty excited about the good reviews. found a single parking spot that wasn't taken up by the bikes and walked in. the bar was full with (drumroll) bikers quietly sipping on miller lites, the dining room had only 3-4 people. Typical back woods joint, pretty cozy, if you ask me. unfortunately we spent the next 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged with no luck. the waitress shot one brief look in our direction and proceeded to busy herself with this and thats as if wee weren't standing by the door. Why have a website if you don't want to sit outsiders?? We left and had an awesome meal elsewhere, well clear of the pines. read more
