The staff is great, and just as importantly Dr. Himelhoch cares. There have been at least two incidents where I called in while the office was closed for vacation, and she called back personally and met me in her office outside of work hours. For us, we were looking for someone with the education and experience that she has for our kid's braces. Nothing bad to say, sometimes busy and you have to wait a little but they do keep things moving in the office.

She had terrible interaction skills with my 4 year old who is new to a dental office (2nd/3rd time). My child had a cavity identified during the initial visit that needed to be addressed. We came back over for the follow up where initially with the [perfectly lovely and child-centered] hygienist, we were told that my child could sit on my lap to make the experience more comfortable for her. The dentist proceeded to come in, and told us it wasn't going to work like that and that she would have to sit on her own to get the procedure done. I don't know if anyone else has ever dealt with 4 year olds, but when one set of expectations is set and then pulled off the table, it typically doesn't go well. As I was comforting her, I can hear Dr. Himelhoch in the background tell my child "Well, you don't really have an option" AS MY CHILD IS CRYING. Then, she proceeded to ask if I needed assistance in restraining my child to get her in the seat. Finally, when my child is inconsolable, she suggested getting the infant lap seat. If that was an option, why wasn't that the initial suggestion instead of waiting for the inconsolable child to get to that level. When I finally told them I did not want to go forward to it today as it was out of control at that point, she then proceeded to address my child with a "I'm very disappointed in you for making this so difficult for you mom." WHAT?!?

I saw Dr. Lee only ONE time in Dec 2011 to get an estimate on what it would cost for me to get braces for 20 months ($6,800) to correct certain speech & alignment issues, and was told by Dr. Lee & her staff that the exam would be covered 100% by my insurance - they looked it up for me while I was STANDING RIGHT THERE, and it was the ONLY reason why I went through the exam. A month later: I get a bill for $314.88 for the exam. I called them and asked them what was going on and they told me that my insurance paid $235 but that I was responsible for the $318 balance! What???!!! Apparently this is how they make their money: they lie to your face, charge an outrageous price, and stick it to you with an enormous bill. If you go here, you'll be lied to and screwed, end of story.

Instead, he confirmed that he would collect payments from MetLife and bill me additionally for my son's orthodontic treatment. He also misled me, stating that my dental insurance would not cover images, braces fitting, and other services associated with the orthodontic work. He didn't even offer a treatment plan but started discussing finances immediately. When I told him he must adhere to the legal contract he signed with MetLife, he refused to provide care. Instead, he wanted to charge me $6,500 + additional charges for orthodontic work.

I really didn't want to go to a dentist again so soon after my last visit to my previous dentist only 2 months ago but I'm really glad I made the trip to Moynihan Dental Specialists. The experience was so much more personal than any of the offices I've been to in Boston. Right away I was greeted by a friendly face upon my arrival. I didn't have to wait very long either before my name was called. Dr. Leung showed me everything and explained what I was seeing so that I could understand the danger I was facing after part of my filling came out. He was very patient and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole appointment and spent a good amount of time making sure my bite was perfect and didn't feel uncomfortable after the filling was replaced. You can really tell that he cares about his patients. I was even given a free consultation about Invisalign verses braces by Dr. Moynihan which was awesome because I've been wanting to fix my overbite for some time now. Overall the whole office is wonderful. They really go out of their way to making sure their patients leave their office with a smile on their face. Definitely planning on coming back!

From the moment I walked in the front door the staff at the front desk made me feel calm and relaxed. I met Dr. Mason and Phil and my fear subsided immediately. He extracted a molar in February of last year I had absolutely no pain and it was a wonderful experience. Since then Concord Dental and Dr. Mason are my go to place!
