A few days later - after flushing the air out of the brake system - I took the car down to Pearson to get an estimate. Mike whipped up a quick estimate to give me an idea of how much it would cost to fix, as I was trying to decide if I should just pay for it myself or go to insurance. Well, as expected, it was a bit more than I could afford, but cheaper than other another place in town, so I called up my insurance, returned to Pearson to get a full estimate, and Mike emailed me the full estimate and his photographs. I forwarded these materials to my insurnace company and within a day got the go-ahead to have the car fixed. Slick! They got the car on a Monday, hammered the fender straight, then repainted and clear-coated by Friday so I could bring the car to its first car show (Rev It Up! in Lawrence) on Saturday. Brought it back in on Monday so they could do the final buffing. What's even nicer is that both Mike and his wife were willing to drop me off at home (or pick me up later) as needed. Whatta crew! Let me just say WOW. They matched 45-year-old paint PERFECTLY, and the fender looks nicer now than it did when I bought the car, like new. Oh, and Mike showed me his restoration project, a soon-to-be gorgeous Austin-Healey in the shop, which he works on during down-times. Highly recommeded if you do something dumb to your vintage ride and need a shop you can trust to undo the dumb.

Unfortunately, I am here to tell you that you might as well keep looking for a body shop to take your vehicle to. I was recently involved in an accident where the driver had Geico insurance. Following the wreck I went and got a quote from the "insurance adjuster from Geico" located at Sharps Auto Collision Repair, little did I know the "insurance adjuster" was the owner of Sharp's. After thinking on it, I decided to give Sharps the opportunity to get the job done quickly and accurately. Unfortunately, I put a little bit to much trust in the team at Sharp's Auto Collision Repair. They got the job done quickly, but they lacked they accurately part. When they first told me my car was finished I went down and instantly noticed that my car's mud-flaps were put on backwards?! How do you even do that? After that I saw a spot that they didn't even sand, they just painted over it! After looking at the job done by Sharps a little bit closer, I started noticing dirt that had been left on the bumper as they clear coated it! I pointed it all out to the owner and he then proceeded to act as if it was going to be a hassle for them to fix it. As he was saying this to me, I felt as if he wanted me to back down and just say okay it's fine and go on my way. But, to his dismay I did not. Two days later I got a phone call saying it was done. I drove back down to the shop to look it over again. They fixed the mud flaps and they fixed the spot they had missed sanding. But there was still dirt trapped underneath the clear coat!? I once again pointed it out to the owner. Later that same evening I got a call saying it was done, so I then had to drive back down to the shop that evening to pay for it and pick it up and to my surprise, when I opened the door I saw that my seat was absolutely filthy and my freshly detailed carpet interior was covered with mud! I promptly walked back into the store and told the owner, "I'm sorry for being such a hassle, but the interior of my car is filthy! You need to remind your boys you have working that this is unacceptable, and if any of them would like to give me a free interior detail I would be more than happy to take him up on the offer." And you know what he did? He laughed and said "Okay, I'll let them know." Bud, this is not a laughing matter. Standing there thinking to myself, "This establishment is an embarrassment to the auto industry" I decided to pick my battles and not carry on with this loosing one with Sharps Auto Collision Repair. So, if your son, daughter, father, mother, sister, brother, husband, or wife gets into a wreck or fender bender (God forbid) PLEASE take head and do not take the vehicle to this shop! Do yourself a favor and take it to Wichita or Kansas City. It will be well worth the drive!!!

So i told her to give them a try . She did and had a great experience and they found all sort of stuff that need to be repaired/replaced . The timing, scheduling, communication all was great. Then I took it home, and I heard squeaks somewhere else. I went back to them again. They sent my wife and me out with a young guy, and he wanted to drive my car and see when/where the squeak occurred. That was fine, but the guy drove my car in a rough manner, and my wife and I were a bit ticked off after his test driving was completed. The office guys are very nice and knowledgeable, but that young guy has some issues.
