As a single guy who sucks at cooking and works a busy job, meal prep has always been unsustainable for me. Having access to a good variety of great tasting, healthy, pre-prepped food every week has been an absolute godsend. The food is great. The menu is constantly rotating. Unfortunately, I have to update my review. I was there to pick up my food, the guy was cooking and didn't see me right away. I waited for a few minutes, while I was waiting he coughed right over the food he was cooking, not once but twice. I was so grossed out. The next day I sent an email explaining what I had witnessed and asked for a refund. Approximately 5 days later I did receive a refund. I was pretty disappointed that no one reached out to me to apologize or say they would look into this and correct the problem. I will never order from this place again. Reply....I never received an email (also checked spam) nothing. I never said what food it was, yet you knew it was Quesadillas. There are camera everywhere in your place, I'm sure that's how you knew what food it was. What's to say it didn't happen to other food being cooked. I stand by my review! I have been eating food from Low Carb Kitchen since 2018. The food is absolutely delicious! Shannon who is the owner is such a great cook. She learned to cook from her grandma. Her grandma started teaching Shannon how to cook when she was a little girl! I always picked up my food, but she also delivers. Since I was 3 I have had a massive phobia of deserts. For several years I missed out on sue flays and pastries and cakes and raisinets and thick butterfingers and juicy kum quats and tartare sauce and waffle trunkets and twinkzlers Basically all the The delicious things that a young lad watching Willy wonka would fantasize about. (After several years of listening to the film I was able to slowly, incrementally, With my therapist present, and not several, but literally every single one of my family members present, I was able to gradually move on to viewing the film and not be triggered - to give you an idea of my phobias severity.) So long story short I can't see deserts even though I crave them deep inside me. and so when I find an establishment that will take the time to blend their desserts into a cup that is surrounded in satin with a juicy-cup top for a lid it really means the world to me and this establishment obliges. Read the 'reviews',and notice that most reviewers don't have many reviews and ALL except 2 have the same picture on 2 or more reviews for this place. Read the health score violations(I wish that I did either of those things 1st). O.K. the food is NOT fresh! It's mostly frozen stuff that you can buy at Costco and Sam's club,I wouldn't care if it was actually a time saver,but #1 there aren't any heating instructions or best buy dates,2 some items would have to be taken apart to heat up correctly. The waffles have to be toasted,and the frozen egg/sausage thing would have to be microwaved at less than 100%. They have ZERO instructions for anything, and some items aren't even labeled with the macros. The portions are TINY for the price,I support small businesses, and if the food was actually fresh and not complicated, I wouldn't mind so much. I paid $65(see pic) for not enough of anything,some things not labled,possible health violations,tiny portions,ugh! The chocolate chip cookies tasted ok,that would probably be the only thing that I purchased again if they were consistent. The sizes were very different,so if I were counting macros per cookie AND if the cookies were actually labled,it wouldn't be accurate unless I weighed them, which defeats the convenience point. I dont eat very much frozen food because of the sodium,so there goes my money. If you read this far,maybe order 1 or 2 items to see how you like it before wasting money like I did. read more

Fiiinally checked out this Keto friendly gem in Downer's Grove! They had an open house with Taco bar and I couldn't pass up getting some of their desserts to sample and devour at home too! They are located in a strip mall with lots of parking options and specialize in low carb / keto meals as well as desserts and seasonal options. Make sure to preorder for meals because they sell out fast. Besides the desserts - I'll get to them, don't worry - they also had bagels, fatbombs, snack trays, and cookies! Ok, now to the desserts: I caved for a cheesecake brownie swirl and pecan bar, caramel streusel cake and my fellow low carb friend opted for plain cheesecake and a blondie. Every. Single. One. Was. Amazing! I don't like it too sweet and these weren't yet they carried all the flavor. The blondie was so buttery. The cheesecake brownie intense in chocolate. The plain cheesecake amazing as is but could also add to it with a syrup. The pecans had bite and the crumbly crust fit perfectly and the caramel bar brought that toffee taste I miss on Keto! They also had desserts in jars with strawberries, 'apples' as well as strawberry and turtle cheesecake flavors. Big big fan! The earlier you come in the day the more selection you'll have for desserts Big plus: the owner is super friendly, happy to help with net carb counts, ingredients etc and you're supporting a small business. Really glad I finally took on the 40min ride to check it out and I recommend anyone eating Keto or Low Carb or just wanting some lower carb food options try them too! read more

I recently tried a few items from here, and I was not a fan. I had to add a bunch of flavor and spices to make it edible. I wanted to find food that tasted good, but I'm not sure if these meals fit the bill. I ordered items and I had to 'Dr' up each thing,no one has time to buy food that's supposed to be prepared,then figure out what's exactly in it(no ingredients listed),then add flavor...a hassle. I heard about this place from my co-worker,we both tried different weeks of items to share and taste. I didn't enjoy my food or the food that my co-worker gave me. read more

I guess I'm the Lonewolf here, but I didn't like anything I got from here when you walk in it's extremely dark. My husband and I have been keto for almost 7 years now and this way of eating has been amazing for us. We've been buying from LCK since they opened and have never been even the slightest bit disappointed in a single item we have purchased. In fact, so often we end up saying I cannot BELIEVE this is even low carb, let alone keto. But it is! as evidenced by my blood sugar numbers. We frequently purchase the meal plans so that we have breakfasts, lunches, and dinners ready on our workdays, and they have been so delicious and flavorful, but the desserts are truly phenomenal! There is a reason they sell out of the chocolate chip cookies basically every week and don't even get me started on the eclair cake and the strawberry parfait and the butterscotch blondie and the french silk pie bar (plus TONS of others). And over these many years of being customers, we have found Shannon and staff to be just really good people. We live WAY far out west (Campton Hills area) and usually meet halfway for delivery, but we try to drive all the way in to the store one Sunday every month or two just to see all the treats available and try one we haven't had before (the french silk pie bar might be my new favorite). As for value and selection, we have another keto meal place WAYYYY closer and their store is fancier, but they are double the price and the flavor and variety isn't even remotely close. It is WELL worth the drive and/or $10 delivery fee to keep buying from LCK instead, so we absolutely will! read more

My nutritionist mentioned this place to me for convenient, keto-friendly food. Low Carb Kitchen does NOT disappoint. I just finished eating the Grown-up Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup and it was very yummy. The entrees do not disappoint. One of the best things about this place is the desserts. As with all restaurants, the are some desserts I am not a fan of, but there are others that taste like heaven. I was honestly really surprised at how good they were. I've ordered dessert type foods specially made to be keto from other companies online and they always have that fake sweet taste, which I can't stand. I am a nurse working midnights at 2 different hospitals. Both those things do not make a healthy lifestyle easy. When I found LCK, my expectations were low. I just needed something convenient. I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised I was by the creative menus and the quality of the food. It doesn't feel like dirt food...it feels like cheat food. The desserts?
