I discovered Fruitful Yield on eBay after purchasing a 90 Veg Capsule serving of Ashwagandha. At times, it is hard for me to make it out to local stores on a regular basis to purchase Ashwagandha, a product that I have grown to love based on its benefits of reducing stress and anxiety. As a healthcare worker that works with hospital patients who come with different behaviors, I credit Ashwagandha for keeping me sane during many of my encounters with those patients' behaviors. It was the distance of Fruitful Yield from me, and its listed price that built the interest in purchasing from. The product arrived from Lombard, Illinois beyond its projected delivery date in a very spiffy looking capsule container. After receiving it in a very timely manner, I looked more into Fruitful Yield and what other products are sold. I found that Fruitful has been family-owned since 1962 and found by Elwood Richard. As for products sold, Fruitful not only sells vitamins & supplement products, but healthy food, personal care, sports nutrition, and foods and treats for pets as well. Being that Fruitful Yield has quite a longstanding legacy, and due to my timely ordering experience with, I would surely continue ordering Ashwagandha from as well as any other vitamins & supplemental products. ~ Health. I particularly love the layout of the store. Easy layout to shop and navigate. This location has all my immediate items right across from each other right by the check out aisle. I'm not a big vitamin person, so I ignore half the store, and I'm a vegetarian, so I can't tell you about their organic meats either. It's like a tiny grocery combined with a GNC. All produce is organic; prices are good and while selection is small, you'll see things like purple sweet potatoes that you won't find any place else. Also a good selection of organogroovy chocolates and an impressive freezer selection of various Daiya / dairy-free products and gluten-free products. Various HBAs, dry cereal,etc. also stocked. Fruitful Yield Lombard helped assist me in the products I would need to get over this God forsaken UTI in the quickest (and cheapest) way possible. The staff are hit or miss in terms of their level of knowledge, but they try hard nd usually succeed in helping me to find items that I am seeking. I appreciate that they have increased the amount of organic produce and that they pass on the best pricing possible. Still a fan after al these years. read more

I've shopped at this store for years despite their limited selection of items. I recently purchased a large order and the cashier forgot to add in one of the items in my bags. When I returned, the cashier told me it was my mistake and refused to give me my item/offer a refund. The item was less than $3, so I chose not to fight it. That said, they lost a customer over this. Make sure everything is in your bag before leaving! Also, I've heard about (but have not experienced) inappropriate comments from the staff about female customers. I understand that they're striving to be friendly, but boundaries should still exist in a professional setting. read more

The best way I can describe this is GNC meets Whole Foods' vitamin, snack and toiletry section. Most of it seemed to be geared toward multivitamins and all that. The store itself it put together very nicely and the hemp soap bars were a bit cheaper than I've seen them other places. I couldn't believe how expensive the daily tablets were. Mint water was almost twice the price of Woodman's and their Annie's Organic bunny fruit snacks were much more than Whole Foods'. I might come back for a few items, but I'll probably do most of my supplement and snack buying at other places. read more

My need: some rare soap rescued from an obscure mountain range in an unknown country for my mom's birthday. I sauntered down the three aisles of Fruitful yield searching for the fragrant cleaner. My post-workout stench must've tipped off the staff that I needed some assistance in the hygiene department. I told the woman what I was looking for and she promptly led me to the soap trove. Tofu scrambles! Fruitful rocks my world. I love everything about this place.The freezer section, the employees, vitamins, natural makeup and cosmetics,organic tampons, how much better can it get. The employees here are so knowledgable and always greet me right when I walk in! I think they must have to have some sort of organic healer of the body degree before working here. The one lady Linda is amazing! My main reason for frequenting the Yield is the fact that they carry Amy's tofu scrambles.If you havent tried them get on it! Besides the scrambles this is the only place I can get organic tampons and pads.Sorry fellas but I have to talk about this. Side note--Why the hell hasnt Target gotten on the bandwagon and started selling some sort of natural tampon brand so I can stop making a special trip just for pons. So for these very reasons Fruitful is one of my fav places to spend a lot of money just cause. What I like most about Fruitful Yield is the employees will take time to walk the aisles with you to help you find what you need. However, I don't always find their knowledge of products -- either in how the product is intended to work or how it might compare to other products they carry -- to be up to snuff. In my limited experience, it seems the staff at Whole Foods are better trained when it comes to supplements. I like the size of the store; not overwhelming yet there's a lot of merchandise for the space. read more

LOOOVE! the Yield! Nothing fancy (or sterile) about it. Better prices then GNC, and a more down to earth, knowledgeable staff as well. My go- to place for my monthly stash of vitamins and probiotics..and emergencies that may arise. Very good selection, and if they don't have it, they'll order it for you. Food selection is good. Rice and juices cheaper then most local stores...and they have some of the best prices on Bison ;) In a curry...delicious! Have nothing bad to say about this place, except I wish they were open a little later. read more

The Fruitful Yield is my go-to place for things that I either 1) can't find anywhere else or 2) can't see paying a lot for. For example, you want gluten free ginger snaps - Fruitful Yield. Or you want a good protein shake powder but can't see going to a store with muscle clad men or kids with foot long dread - Fruitful Yield. Since the remodel, the selection is much more impressive that it used to be. You could literally do all your shopping here. I don't do all my shopping here but I do stock up on chia seeds, gluten free foods, essential oils, protein powder, misc supplements, and a kombacha (every now and then) read more

I used to shop at this FY location a lot more than I do now. The staff is by far the friendliest of all the locations I've visited, and they're all very knowledgeable. On the general scale of sizing when it comes to FY stores, I'd say this one is medium-sized. The one in Elmhurst is smaller and the one in Bloomingdale is newer with a better selection of products and items. The main problem I have with this location is with the quality and availability of the products. One week they'll have a product and the next week they won't. There's no consistency so shopping is kind of a gamble. When the shelves are fully stocked, they usually only have one or two units of each item out, which means they sell out quickly and aren't necessarily restocked very attentively either. Also, be sure to check expiration date information on any product you buy. This location has chronically sold me items that were either expired or about 1 day or so from expiring, meaning I either had to throw it away or drive all the way back to return it. If you don't have your receipt, the best you can do is exchange it. If you do have your receipt, they ask you to provide personal information (address, phone number, etc.) in order to refund you. Since I'm unlisted in the phone book for privacy reasons, this method isn't super preferable to me. Overall, there's nothing terrible about this location. I'd stop in if I was in the area and needed something I could find here. But, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come to this one. read more

I am a frequent visitor at most of the health stores in the area and I have to say the Fruitful Yield stores have the least selection available. I've been to the Lombard and Bloomingdale stores. I make quick stops at this location for cleaning products, female sanitary products, or Aloe Vera juice when in a pinch and I forgot to get something when doing my full grocery load. Some items are a few dollars cheaper here than at Whole Foods/Trader Joe's and a few are a few dollars more, so not a big difference at the end of the day. Fruitful Yield has a limited selection of almost everything other than vitamin supplements. They never have organic yogurt and rarely have variety or organic milk, usually only whole milk! My biggest problem is that none of the prices make any sense! They claim to give you a discount on every item so the receipt is completely incomprehensible! The recipt will have every item listed with a higher price than advertised and then it lists something like 20% off that price so the amount paid (which is the amount listed on the shelves) is not visible on the receipt. What kind of game is that? I feel like I'm dealing with a used car salesman. If every item is 20% off then that is the price you sell the item for so list it in the receipt at that price, you weirdos! read more

For the past few months I've been trying to make a lifestyle change. During that time I keep thinking "I should really go check out Fruitful Yield." Most of the time I'm thinking that, I'm leaving the store right next door. Well today I finally stepped up my game and not only went there, but bought stuff! Woo! Go Me! So I found these crazy teas that are supposed to be amazing for your body and detoxing, so I was on a mission. After wandering the store aimlessly checking things out for awhile I decided to just get what I needed before I spent my entire paycheck on gluten free & dairy free food! After about 5min on my own of not finding anything and obviously looking like a lost little kid, I found someone to help me. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for but apparently the teas I wanted were ingredients in other teas so a wonderful lady took the time to help me read ingredients on about 5 different types of teas. After that I kindly let her go because this was my mission. Eventually I found what I was looking for. Needless to say, I have no idea why I didn't go here sooner and I wish I would have! Kombucha, gluten free EVERYTHING, (r)ice cream, and tons of herbs, oh my! I'll be back for sure. read more

I had a great time at this store. Definitely seemed to be geared more towards the vitamin, homeopathy side of things so I loved it. It is definitely no where near the size of a whole foods so if that's what you're looking for you will be disappointed. They did have a smallish selection of foods, but this is not a grocery store by any means. With that said, I did come home with some yummy baked low fat cheese puffs what were out of this world, some great breakfast bars and whenever bars that will make me feel less guilty about having "something" for breakfast...bottom line I ended up spending way too much at this place - and had a great time doing it, and didn't have to deal with Whole Foods crowds...a HUGE bonus in my eyes. I stop by here occasionally when I need to stock up on my CoQ10 and fish oil supplements. If there's a sale going on, I can usually get a pretty good price. Some of their food items seem a bit more expensive than what can be found at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I think the layout of the store is confusing. I always have a hell of a time finding what I need. The good thing is that there is a great selection, so you can usually find several brands of the item you're looking for. The staff is pretty knowledgeable. Every time I go in, the place is pretty crowded, and it seems like they need more people to accommodate customers. I recently moved to the Lombard area and love exploring a new neighborhood. Saw a Fruitful Yield on Roosevelt so went in to see what they had. There was a nice selection of vitamins and other exotic herbs. I was pleasantly surprised to see in the end alise they had some frozen goods( I love Amy's vegetarian entree's). Not at the level of a Whole Foods but hey it's down the street from me. Can't beat that. read more

I have been shopping regularly, at Fruitful Yield for literally, decades. I started out at the Elmhurst Store and now frequent Lombard for all my supplement needs. They used to be a wealth of information but, now it is hit or miss whether you'll find anybody knowledgeable or caring enough to give useful information. I do my own research. The discount pricing system is confusing and when they make a mistake, it's even hard for the employees to understand and some become argumentative when confronted with an issue on a receipt. I am returning to my 3/20/2014 review of Fruitful Yield not to complain about products, prices, or customer service, but to register my complaint about the coupon sent to me for my birthday. A $5.00 off coupon seems like a nice gesture, right? Well, that's what I thought until I read the fine print while standing at the register, which wasn't accepting my coupon for my purchase of about $28,00. When the checker and I struggled to read the fine print, it said, "$5.00 off of $40.00." REALLY? And that's with an expiration date of six days after the date of issue. Does Fruitful Yield want to be nice to customers or just tick them off? You would think they'd understand just how many people hate coupons like this. read more

So basically this is a scaled down Whole Foods with higher prices. I've been in a few times and my experience has been all right, with the minor issue of the people shopping there. Today, it was block the aisle with your cart or body day and just plain rude person day. Look, the place is tiny - try to be cognizant of other people. I know that entitlement virus doesn't really allow for it but it would be nice to know it crossed the mind of the people shopping here. The employees are pretty amusing and that is why I am giving three stars. Had a good laugh with the lady who rang me up over not only the rude customer (and this person was way out of line) and my crazy drivers license picture. I also like their vitamin aisle a lot, too. Actually, that takes up about a third of the place. I will probably be back when I can't be bothered to go to Whole Foods since FY is closer but definitely not on a Saturday. read more

Called this morning to get pricing on a product line. I was given a price on one item and then when asked about another in the same line I was told, "You know what, I can't keep going back and forth, I am trying to open the store here and you will have to come in an look!" Are you kidding me? I don't think after treatment like that, anyone will be coming into the store to look at anything, let alone purchase. Whatever happened to customer service and treating the customer with respect. Perhaps this employee should go back to bed and try getting up on the other side! If she doesn't like her job, she shouldn't be there! I am a Fruitful Yield member and will NOT go into that store for sure and am rethinking my purchases at Fruitful Yield in general.
