Well, I finally switched dentists ( closer location to my home), and boy I'm glad I did! The office staff is great, and the dentist and hygienist were both outstanding. It was my first visit, and they made me feel very at ease with the whole process - full x-rays, teeth cleaning, and advice for future dental work. No cavities this time around! I've been coming to Loving Dentistry for a long time now (it's been over a decade?!?) and they are still wonderful, caring, and thoughtful. This place is by far my favorite place to get my teeth cleaned, fixed, and cared for. The staff members are always so pleasant and professional. Even during COVID they are working hard and taking the appropriate precautions to make sure they can help people while keep their staff members as safe as possible. I needed to have a filling replaced and they took their time to make sure I was numb (which is a huge chore - it takes about 5-6 shots and an hour) before they started working on me. As someone who's worked in medical billing in my past, I can assure you, they don't get to charge extra for that, it's all the same price to the insurance company. Having a dentist who cares about making sure you're comfortable while dealing with some of the most sensitive nerves in your body is worth the drive! Like most people, I don't really like going to the dentist. So I appreciate that Loving Dentistry is on time, does a thorough cleaning and gets me on my way fast! I'm not left sitting in the waiting room, or dentist's chair wondering why I'm there instead of somewhere else. :-) Whenever there is an issue, I feel like my questions are heard, respected and Dr. Merchant does a great job of figuring out the best solution for me - even if it may not always be the obvious one. Besides normal cleaning routines, I've had to have a filling replaced and it was one of the more "enjoyable" experiences I've had with fillings. I was having trouble finding the right oral surgeon to remove my wisdom teeth for me. I was told by Loving Dentistry that if I went to a certain place, I wouldn't be charged for certain things. So of course I said I wanted to go there and get an appointment with them. After visiting the oral surgeon, I get a bill that was close to $200 in the mail. I called them and they said that i had to pay all the expenses, that nothing was discounted. So I called Loving Dentistry and asked them why there was miscommunication and if I made a mistake. The lady in the accounting department called the oral surgeon and talked to them and told me she would take care of it. I get a call from them with a new price of $47. I've been going to Loving Dentistry for nearly 15 years. I've had multiple procedures done and always have so much confidence in Dr Merchant and the staff. They are kind and they take time to answer any questions you might have. I've been especially impressed during Covid. On top of the normal universal precautions that they always employ they've also added air purification suction units in each operatory, cold fogging between patients, and high volume intraoral suctions for aerosol reduction. I'm new to this practice and I must say that I am very happy that I found this place! I've done alot of research trying to find a dentist in the area and landed here. The location is in a great spot, easy to find and the office is nicely decorated, clean and organized. The front desk staff is always very friendly and helpful. The assistants and hygenists are also always friendly smiling and they make you feel comfortable. Dr. Merchant is amazing!! He made me feel welcome and always so pleasant. Absolutely shocked after 15 years as a patient and truly sad. Dr. Loving was the best dentist with a great gift of making me and my two daughters feel less anxious about going to the dentist. I actually drove from Ballard to Issaquah for 15 years to see Dr. Loving. She was the only dentist I trusted after terrible experience as a child with dentistry. When I called to reschedule an appointment today I learned that she "retired" in April! I asked if they had sent an announcement to patients that I may have missed in the mail. In the past she sent letters communicating time she was taking off and birth announcement of her children so it was her common practice to commuincate with her patients. The receptionist said "No, that she left a plaque in the office that she was retiring"?! I struggle rating this practice now because I feel that the trust I had in Dr. Loving is broken. For 15 years I would have given it 5 stars and have referred many friends to her practice over the years. My daughter saw one of the new doctors a couple of months ago and I asked if Dr. Loving did her filling. She said that a male dentist attended to her and I asked if he was as nice as Dr. Loving was. She said "not really". I have not seen him myself to make a truely fair statement in his demeanor but I am really struggling with the fact that they did not disclose of Dr. Lovings "retirement" in opaque manner. I really appreciate the professional staff at Loving Dentistry. I was a new patient at the beginning of the year. Before that, my last teeth cleaning had been about 1.5-2 years prior. Unfortunately, I had a lot of sensitivity and discomfort with my initial cleaning at Loving Dentistry. It had prevented me from booking my 6 month teeth cleaning appointment sooner because I had so my anxiety around the discomfort with it. I finally mustered up the courage to take advantage of my insurance before the end of the year. I expressed my concerns to the receptionist when she called to confirm my appointment. She really encouraged me to advocate for myself if I have pain during the appointment and made a special note to use topical anesthetic before the cleaning. The receptionist really put me at ease and made me feel confident about going to this appointment. My sweet dental hygienist, Tonie, really took my pain into consideration and was so gentle and thorough during my cleaning. I couldn't have appreciated it more! Her care and consideration made me feel like I could face the dentist again! Thanks, Tonie! (I will try to make my flossing my New Years Resolution!) To top it off, Dr. Merchant is so pleasant and down to earth. He makes an effort to ask about yourself and get to know you and I appreciate the personable touch. I've been a patient at Loving Dentistry for six years now. The only reason I ended up there was because I had a major abscess and was in need of some immediate help. Dr. Merchant was able to see me the same day and get me referred to the Endodontic dentist immediately. I decided to continue with cleanings and additional services.
