We have three senior rescues who love their treats. One has a kidney condition, so she has a special diet. On Wednesday, I stopped in to Pet Oasis for the first time. We needed a little bell for our little blue heeler/GSP mix who is now deaf, so that I can hear when she is around my feet and I can keep from falling over on her. Jeannine helped me find the perfect bell plus the most amazing and reasonably priced soft treats for these old doggies. The store is gorgeous, and to a pet owner, a lot like Christmas morning. Toys, feeding pads, beds, climbers, jackets, and all kinds of colorful accessories will catch your eye. It is just a beautiful place! There is a wall full of various refrigerated meals, including one special kidney support product that appealed to us for our darling patient. There are many, many soft treats, vegan treats, and broths of several kinds. I found one amazing turkey bone broth which is kombucha inspired. This is the kind of store where I "run in to buy a couple of things" and then carry a shopping bag full of goodies. Maybe I need a secret checkbook and title the purchases "essentials". I was headed out to my husband's physical therapy session and it was a bazillion degrees outside so I left my items with Jeannine and her coworker where they'd remain cool until Incould return after. The three dogs were thrilled to get the lamb treats and the fish when we got home. Little Annie, now wearing her cat bell, gobbled up her prescription food from the vet's office which also had the broth on top. I found the prices reasonable and the assortment of flavors, whether raw or air-dried, to be extensive. My own human food cabinet is way less appealing than is their special treats drawer. Knowing Pet Oasis is here right down the street is fantastic. The people are welcoming and knowledgeable. Love for pets is in the air here. I guess I can manage to eat my broccoli frittatas and black beans every day so we can bring an appealing culinary experience to these rascals and sneak in to Pet Oasis for new surprises. "Are they spoiled" you ask. Yes they're spoiled. Little alarm clocks watching for meals and snacks in their bellies are never wrong, am I right? You can find us on the third tee greenbelt at Mountainview Golf Course, sitting on a bench on the hillock, mostly every morning, sharing treats from Pet Oasis, listening to podcasts, and smelling all the smells.

Dogs that are dumped or pulled from shelters are brought into the pet rescue center, rehabilitated of necessary, receive training in basic obedience and agility as well as spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and a veterinary exam. The rescue ensures the right for for both dog and owner and on multiple occasions the director has said I know you want her but this is who you need and avoided a placement that would have caused frustration for all involved. She ensures that if a dog is found every attempt is made to reconnect it with it family even when the family is sadly unappreciative of this. They have training classes to fundraise for the rescue and would love more volunteers :) I find visiting this place to be zen as I am sure the dogs do also.

When my husband, our two daughters, and I visited the Petco Indio near WinCo, we honestly had no idea where to begin--tank, fish, supplies... everything was new to us. My husband asked for help at the front desk, and we were lucky enough to meet Danny. We didn't even realize until near the end that he is the General Manager. From the very start, he was incredibly kind, patient, and enthusiastic. He explained every single detail and answered all of our beginner questions without ever making us feel rushed or uncomfortable. When he learned this was our first time buying a fish, he smiled and said, "Let's make it more exciting--I love this." And he truly did. He helped us choose a 10-gallon tank, two fish, and all the decorations, guiding us carefully through every item. I honestly felt bad asking so many questions, but Danny never once made us feel that way. Instead, he made the experience fun, welcoming, and unforgettable. Thank you, Danny, for making our family's first pet day so special. My daughter knows your name by heart now--and that says everything.

He was super patient and didn't just cover the curriculum, but always spent time each week addressing questions and challenges we (as new puppy owners) experienced while providing solutions. Format - Informal, positive, and puppy friendly (no harsh methods, only positive methods of working with the pups). Loved the group format. Our five month old Bernedoodle got a lot out of the class. I arrived about 10 minutes before the store opened. There were several employees already inside, and there were multiple customers waiting outside: myself, another woman, and a couple with their dog. Now, I completely understand that the posted opening time is 9:00 a.m. What I found ridiculous was the way the situation was handled. A few minutes before 9:00, an employee came to the door and let the couple with the dog inside because they were there for grooming, which apparently opens earlier. Meanwhile, the rest of us were literally left standing at the door and made to wait until exactly 9:00 on the dot. Would it have destroyed the operation of the store to let two waiting customers step inside a couple of minutes early while the door was already being opened? Apparently, according to manager Melissa, yes. The whole interaction came across as unnecessarily petty and more about exercising authority than providing good customer service. There is a big difference between following store hours and going out of your way to make customers feel unwelcome. The other woman who had been waiting outside ended up leaving too -- and, amusingly enough, I ran into her shortly afterward at Petco. So congratulations: instead of gaining back two customers, you sent both of us directly to your competitor. Melissa may technically have been within her rights to make everyone wait until exactly 9:00, but good managers understand that customer service requires judgment, courtesy, and common sense -- not a stopwatch and a power trip. One star. I'm back to Petco, and I won't be returning.

When I walked into Petco, there were already customers inside shopping, and one customer was actually in the middle of checking out. Clearly, Petco understands that good customer service sometimes means using a little common sense instead of watching the second hand on the clock. I was able to walk in, buy everything I needed, check out, and leave Petco before the other store had even officially opened its doors. That pretty much settled for me where I'll be shopping from now on.
