Their selection was great -- everything from coats, dressier dresses, sweaters, tops, skirts, jeans, shoes and accessories like handbags. Staff were so friendly and helpful; this is really what you want in a shopping experience. I fall at the bottom of their size range and because of my height sometimes have a hard time finding clothes that fit, but I found two beautiful coats (one a Tall!) and an amazing dress, and the total for these three items was less than $130, which is what a new coat might cost at Land's End (the brand of one of the coats I bought here)! I will definitely be back, and will check out the second shop in Rockford when I'm there for the Japanese Gardens. Helpful hint: my GPS told me I had arrived but I didn't see the sign and so circled the building needlessly: it's in the window!

They called this one to have them hold it for me, and the staff here went the extra mile. I'm mad at myself because I already forgot her name, but I'm pretty sure it was Catherine or Caroline (I asked, because she looked like someone I went to school with). Anyway, she knew who I was as soon as I walked in the store. She had taken both jumpsuits they had in the pattern and size I wanted and held them for me so that I could choose which one I wanted, since patterned material varies slightly on each piece. I never would have thought about that myself but she was like "Yeah just look them over and decide which one you like how the pattern lays best, and we'll ring it up!" I was just really impressed with her caring enough to think about that. She was really nice and fun to talk to! As I was only in very briefly to get that held item, she made the entire experience really fantastic. The only reason I'm putting 4 stars instead of 5 is the size of the store. It is a bit cramped because of the size and amount of merchandise. Probably wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my mom often shops with me and uses a walker, and I don't think she could easily navigate the space.

Staff was very helpful and nice, and we both found a bunch of stuff! Their prices are very affordable: I got three dresses, a skirt, and a top for sixty bucks! You can't beat it. They also do consignment for items that suit their needs. Definitely worth a visit!

Both my friend and I felt incredibly welcomed and a lack of judgement. It was a refreshing experience and I don't know why I was surprised. Maurices makes cute clothes for a variety of body types and sizes, and they recognize that everyone has a right to feel fabulous. After 1 minute in the door and 4 items already in my hands, I told Sara I think I hit the jackpot! It's been awhile since I've been to Maurice's, so I forgot how much I love their selection! Sara hooked me up with a dressing room so I could free up my arms for my items. Another girl took the next batch and I was soon on my way to the fitting room to try on the 10+ items I found. While I loved everything, I narrowed it down and went to checkout. I asked the girl about the current sale (better late than never, right?!) and although none of my items qualified, she hooked it up with a $50 off coupon. Thanks for a great experience!! To begin with, upon walking in, I was immediately greeted, warm and genuinely, by both associates. The store was very neat, and well put together. For what from the outside appeared to be a relatively small store front, I was pleasantly surprised at the wide amount and different variety of clothing there was to choose from. I'm not a great shopper. I'm more used to wearing old bleach stained shirts with(unintentional holes). I was a bit out of my element, and slightly embarrassed. Both woman made me feel immediately welcome and at ease. They started by asking me some questions about my general style (non-existant)and what I thought I'd feel comfortable in. They both got to work pulling various items, like experts, with ease, and neatly placing them in a dressing room. They helped me through out the entire process. They made me feel comfortable, not rushed or pressured. I ended up buying several pieces, that I was thrilled over, and in addition, they happily help additional pieces I wanted, but wasn't able to purchase until the next day after I got paid. My one and only little downside, was I did feel the cost of the clothing was quite pricey. Unfortunately, that will keep me from being able to frequent the store as frequently as I truly would like. He also got a dress shirt, tie and suspenders! Clotheshorse carries not only big and tall but standard sizes as well, and casual wear as well as suits and formal wear. Anyway, I had been on the hunt for a graduation dress. Unfortunately, regular stores have sizes that run smaller and typical plus-size stores have clothes that cater generally to an older crowd. I had been leaving store after store empty handed. Flash forward to going to Torrid. When we walked in, it looked like they didn't have the largest selection of dresses. We walked around, picked a few things up and asked for a fitting room. As we were going in to the fitting room, an AWESOME salesperson (I think her name was Lacey?) walked up to us and asked us what we were looking for. When I said graduation she went straight to work and picked out all of these things I thought I wouldn't like/I hadn't seen anywhere and gave them to me to go try on. Since she was super friendly and never pushy I tried everything she gave me on, plus what I had found. Between the mixture, I found THREE dresses I loved (compared to the ZERO from all my previous shopping experiences combined) and had to choose between them. I wound up getting a very cute purple dress with a dark grey fleur de lis pattern for about $70 (it was originally almost $80 before taxes, but I saved 15% by opening a Torrid Charge Card + got a free reversible tote. I'm a sucker for stupid gimmicky crap like that). I was very pleased with the whole experience and would like to again emphasize how awesome our salesgirl was!
