Go here all the time for convenience despite everything being horribly overpriced. Usually it's fine and a good time but today they decided to start treating me like a thief and took my bag and were following me around. Again despite the fact that I've been there dozens of times, multiple times a month (sometimes multiple times a week even) and have spent hundreds on their not excellent quality products and have never stolen anything from them (or anything in general in the last 16 years.) I went into Lovers to purchase a new toy. When I was purchasing my item I was asked if I needed any cleaners. I replied with a, "no, thank you" and then I was asked the personal question of what DO I use to clean my toys. I was a caught off guard by such a personal question and honestly I just wanted to pay and leave. My answer was not satisfactory to the long, curly haired, male employee (of course it wasn't, because I wasn't going to spend an additional $20 on a cleaner) who then lectured me on MY vagina, and told me what I was doing was, "wrong." Let me tell you, I have had my vagina for twenty-seven years, I know her, I know how to take care of her and how to treat her well! I do not need to feel SHAMED for not buying a cleaner at an already overpriced shop. What I honestly wish I had done in that moment was say something to the curly haired MAN WITH A PENIS. Something like, "You know, shaming a human into purchasing more items is what you are doing to me. I am no longer interested in making this purchase." Then I should have left with nothing in hand. This is not the first time I've felt shamed for not purchasing a cleaner at a Lovers. This is just the first time I have posted it on the internet. I went with friends to Lovers to shop for a bachelorette party. I didn't really know what to expect, but this store exceeded every expectation I did have. The store staff checked in with us when we walked in, asking if we needed any assistance and letting us know that they could start a fitting room for us if we needed it. Embarrassment atmosphere was the only thing missing from this place (though my focus was fairly singular). I thought I'd be walking into a dive-y, awkward, rated R scene. I'm sure some corners might lean that way, but the store was clean, employees friendly and unobtrusively helpful in my first time search for awkward bridal items. Me and 2 friends came in last night to check out the store last night and I was so surprised! The store is clean and laid out really nicely. The women working there were friendly and playful and super knowledgeable about all of the items they have for sale. They have open samples of all of the toys you can hold and check out to see what they do. I felt super comfortable in asking any questions and we all walked out with just what we wanted. They sell everything from high end toys, super cute lingerie and they have a huge selection of fun smaller items for gifts or bachelor/bachelorette parties. This time, when I wasn't quite sure what I wanted (I just knew I wanted a quiet vibrator) she asked for a price range, grabbed a few items and pulled them out of the box and powered them up to show me. I used to shop at this store frequently. I began having increasing problems with some of the staff flirting with my boyfriend rather than helping me. There was a couple instance when I asked a staff member for help and she walked around me to talk to him. I also waited inline with handfulls of stuff (bachlorette party) and when it was my turn to ring out the casher walked away to chat with another staff member and a friend. My partner and I had driven past this store and been interested in looking around for about two years before we finally decided to go inside. We have been to other adult stores in the past, but this one absolutely takes the cake for helpfulness of staff, selection, and atmosphere.
