Found this gem of a bakery while putting together a 50th Birthday party for my Sister-in-law. I chose a Hawaiian theme for her party and placed a call to Lovely Layers and spoke with Emily. We went with a two tier cake with the chocolate mocha flavor on the bottom and strawberry cheesecake on top for a his and hers type of thing. Everyone was able to try both flavors and raved about them! It looked exactly has we had discussed and we loved it so much. It was beautiful. My day started off very busy, and I lost track of time. When I arrived at Lovely Layers to pick up a large order for Sarah's birthday, I found the doors closed and the business shut for the day. The sign on the door indicated they had closed 30 minutes earlier. Frustrated, I sent a nasty email to the business through their website, ready to write a scathing review. To my surprise, I received a very prompt reply from the owner, simply stating, "Please call me." I called her, and after a brief conversation, she apologized and offered to meet me so I could pick up my order. She mentioned she would have to travel 45 minutes to do so. This level of customer service is something I find lacking so often nowadays. As someone who works in the Food & Beverage industry, I was taken aback by her grace. I apologized to the owner for my harsh email. I cannot recommend Lovely Layers enough. Their cupcakes are not only beautiful but also delicious. I can't wait to try their other items. Ordered a custom cake through Emily and it definitely exceeded my expectations and then some. I was absolutely amazed. I had the silly idea to have a boob cake made for my breastfed baby and this crew made our dream come true! The cake looked absolutely amazing, the taste was absolutely delicious, and the communication with emily was great. I will definitely be back for a custom cake again! I also visited the mobile bakery to try out some baked goods and coffee. I was welcomed with smiles and happy attitudes along with the aroma of their yummy treats. I had a chocolate croissant, and one of the best chocolate croissants I have ever had may I add. Iced coffee was great as well. First of all, I noticed a lot of people complaining about customer service but I personally never felt like anyone was anything but polite and extremely helpful every time I called or visited in person. In fact, I had actually originally contacted another very popular company for wedding cakes but was told "sorry honey, I just don't have time for you." So after that talking with the owner and staff of Lovely Layers was always welcoming and nice. Getting this cake/and cupcakes was BY FAR one of the easiest things to get done for the wedding. The cake and cupcakes TASTED SO GOOD! I got so many compliments during the wedding. Not to mention, we ordered 8 dozen cupcakes and a 3 tier cake for roughly 100 people who stayed for it and I think we only ended up with a little bit of leftover cake. It's true what they say about barely getting to eat at your own wedding but I did get some cake (obviously) and I managed to snag one of the last gluten free raspberry cream cupcakes and it was so delicious. read more

All the food and desserts here are TO DIE FOR. They're so delicious and they taste so fresh. It's my favorite bakery hands down. However there's two girls that work there, that are definitely not known for their customer service. The few times they've helped me, they speak very condescendingly and every question I have is treated like it's stupid. I just had my fiancé go and get me a 4 pack of cupcakes. He said the whole time he was trying to order the girl that wasn't taking his order kept speaking over him to the girl taking his order. She had to ask him to repeat almost everything each time he spoke. She was having a whole conversation about non work related things while trying to take his order. He wouldn't mind waiting. But she asked him what he'd like and then the whole time acted as if she wasn't ready and he was being rude. The owner is amazing and I'll never stop coming here. I just wish they were nicer. If you are truly celiac and not just gluten free for fun, I would not recommend trusting the Gluten Free options. The first issue I had was awhile ago and I let it slide because I caught the error before my daughter actually ate the cupcakes. It was heartbreaking because we specifically ordered them for her birthday!!! So, she wound up watching everyone at the party eat cupcakes and she did not get one....I did phone the bakery and had a lengthy discussion about their mistake. They apologized, but also were a tad patronizing, "Sorry, our bad; what's the big deal? She didn't eat them right?" Last week a friend purchased four different flavors of gluten free cupcakes. My daughter eagerly ate one and commented "wow mom, that was so good, it didn't even taste gluten free!" She started the dreadful celiac vomits 6 hours later, she is also Type 1 diabetic so her blood sugar levels keep dropping due to the malabsorption in her GI tract and she has the tell tale rash on her torso. I know this was the source of gluten because it is the only outside food she consumed in the previous 24 hours. After a second mistake I'm seeing that this bakery simply doesn't take gluten seriously. If you are celiac steer clear or suffer the consequences. read more

I heard about lovely layers through a friend and decided to check it out because I am a fiend for cupcakes. I went there on a Thursday and was sad to find out that they only do cupcakes and cookies without an appt. on Fridays. I never would have known about this place due to the location being off the beat and path but am glad I found it. The interior was cute- very rustic/ shabby chic. That next day I returned and happily selected four different cupcakes. The employee was very helpful and explained what was on each cupcake. I called Emily and asked her if she could make some kind of "Volcano" cake as I was having an award party celebration for those that met my outdoor adventure group's challenge of hiking 5 peaks-4 types of volcanos-3 months in Lassen Volcanic National Park. She immediatly told me yes with a description including using dry ice for a smokey effect. Let me tell you, Emily went beyond just making a cake! It was a MASTERPIECE! A true work of art! I cannot say enough good things about this bakery and I'll be a customer for LIFE! I have ordered several party cakes which all were insanely beautiful and taste like heaven. My friend mentioned another business for my little sisters birthday recently so I made the GIANT error of going elsewhere. I picked up the cake from the other place only to be horrified at its size and extremely bad design which also had fur on it. It was bad I ran it right over to lovely layers and without question they scooped it out of my hands and got to work. They scraped it and went above and beyond redecorating it -- even fixing misspelling from the original place They were sweet and did it all 30 mins before close. Life savers! Peanut Butter Creme and a Lemon Custard of some sort. All I can say was it was amazing! Lovely Layers is always such a pleasure to deal with. I use to work across the street from them, they were my go to for coffee and cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. They have always been reasonably priced and the cakes are beautiful and amazing. To name a few, my sister had her wedding cake, my birthday cake, my brother-in-law cake all were made by Lovely Layers and they never disappoint.
