Fried chicken sandwich with a helping of crispy fries
    Phil C.

If you are looking for an excellent chicken sandwich or popcorn chicken or just some good ole fried chicken - in Newtown Pa the place is Love Birds. The chicken is cooked and battered just right - I get the chicken sandwich on a fresh brioche but with cole slaw, pickles, lettuce and their special sauce. On occasion we get the heaping order of popcorn chicken served with a variety of sauces. The side appetizers of onion rings (lightly battered), fried pickles, Brussel sprouts, corn nibblets always extra taste to your meal. Call ahead and place and pay for your order so that when you pick up it is quick and easy. It is nice a quaint inside and makes you feel welcome at pick up. So if you are tired of the fast food chicken sandwich give Love Birds a try - in Newtown Pa & Doylestown Pa - I am sure you will be back.

Wow! Absolutely magical environment. I would not have imagined that this gluten free food could taste so stunning. The chicken tasted like KFC, and the pasta like an Italian gave birth to it. The French fries straight from Belgium. The food was so delectable. And the nicest servers. It's a must try! 10/10.

Gf popcorn chicken single serving $8

Ok so I am in love with Love Bird. My friend took me for my birthday because I have gluten issues and have been gluten free since March 1st, So almost everything on the menu is gluten free! I as able to eat about a third of my food before I was full. The er popcorn chicken is so good. I had the love bird and honey mustard sauce. Perfectly crisp, not oily. I'm a huge fan I honestly think I'll be a weekly customer. The place has a dine in area but they do an insane amount of Uber eats/door dash. Personally I do t use those services often because I'd rather other directly with the restaurant to help them make their full profit instead of paying delivery services 30%. Back to the food! The fried pickles were so good. Next time info I want to ask if they are air frying because nothing is oily! I love it. The Mac and cheese was so good and I enjoyed the gf bread crumb topping, I still haven't finished it because it's filling but so good and safe for me to eat I really appreciate businesses that provide sage gluten free options. I heard this owner also owns Jules thin crust pizza. They have gf options there too. Next time I crave pizza Im trying there. I honestly had so much left to take home but I should have tried the gf sugar cookie. I'll be back! Maybe even tomorrow. Signed up for the rewards because why not. The owners must own a Cats and Dogs Rule store too because they give out the cutest dog treat samples. I have cats! I would have loved a cat treat sample. It was a nice touch. So I have a suggestion and just a personal preference comment. All this effort to have gf, why not have a gluten free bun option. Read Robin had a great bun. Haasias GF bakery in Perkasie whole says their breads and rolls. Maybe other stuff too. A good tasting bun is a treat when you are gf! Most gf wraps aren't so great so I didn't want to chance it and went with popcorn chicken, I might just bring my own roll one time and ask for the sand which on it. I have a love of fountain soda and so so many people. It's profitable for a business and bottled soda isn't the same,. There was a brand of soda I'd never had before but I brought my own fountain soda. I asked for a cup of ice, and they have no ice? I thought that's odd for an American restaurant? I'll definitely be going back to love bird. I learned they gave other locations in Doylestown, East Norriton and Villanova. It's nice to know there's a safe place in so many locations! Also I put say another reason for the 5 stars is the price! It's not crazy and chicken prices are crazy right now! The sides were $5 each, fries were $4.50 for a large order amor fresh cut fries. Popcorn chicken tastes like white meat. The love bird sauce was ok but I liked the ranch and honey mustard best. I think the love bird sauce was ketchup, Mayo, Worcester sauce, salt and pepper. The sauce isn't defined on the menu so that might be something to add on!

Great food! Not greasy, a little pricey, but worth it. I was truly satisfied after craving a good chicken sandwich.

    Joanne H.

Had two of their chicken burgers and hand cut fries! The burgers: super thick and crunchy with lots of inside filling. the cole slaw cuts through the chicken greasiness, except the chicken patty itself was kind of hard to bite into because it's so thick. so aside from it being a little hard and messy to eat, great taste! the fries: eeee these weren't that good :( they came out not that hot and most of the fries were a really dark, dark brown that looked like they were cooked in oil for way too long, and didn't even taste like potato at all. altogether, lovebird does their chicken best, not potatoes.

Coming in with high expectations Lovebird lived up to them. Clean interior but I didn't like the smell in there. Cleaning supplies and fried chicken turns my stomach. Anywho, we ordered popcorn chicken, the lovebird sandwich (fried, slaw, special sauce, pickles and Bibb lettuce), and a side of fries. Our two dipping sauces were the honey mustard and buffalo. Took about ten minutes and they delivered us our bag outside while we waited at a table. The popcorn chicken was fresh and crispy, more like nuggets which I actually preferred. Buffalo sauce complimented them nicely. The sandwich was good, not great. It lacked crisp but had solid flavor. Honey mustard was standard. The fries were really tasty and we ate those on the drive home. Wish we would of eaten outside and tried it fresh out but possibly another time. Great meal for two at just under $21.

Love the name. Love the notion of sourcing exclusively from a Pennsylvania Amish farm. Love the antibiotic/filler free birds resting easily in my belly. But, the actual experience of eating their Baja Chicken Sandwich, and the takeout confusion, not so much. Lovebird just opened earlier this week, and making all the necessary adjustments as Bucks turns Yellow from Red (Covid-19 speaking), earns them some slack from this sensory deprived quarantine, but some things are still hard to ignore. I didn't mind that there was a communications gap between online ordering, paying, and the chaotic scene upon arrival at the small shop for pick-up. It was a bit tense as some customers came in to wait with their shirts pulled over their mouth and nose because they lacked required masks and recommended gloves and the business had none to offer. It was even okay to wait 30 minutes for my order to be ready, and watch a dozen teenagers scrambling to package the orders into brown bags and seem lost about how to construct a strong meal sack that wouldn't descend into a leaky mess at the bottom of the bag by the time it reached its destination. That was annoying as the sandwich containers were removed with oil stains and partially deconstructed ingredients. Worst offender was the brussel sprouts side dish that tasted great in a black roast way, but whose oil cooking medium could not be contained and ran over everything in the bag. A class in solid trigonometry would have helped the unschooled packers. Not sure what I expected from a $9 chicken sandwich, but I may have believed that it would compare well with the Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, Wendy's of the world which sold for a coupla bucks less. Aside from the warm fuzzies from knowing the chicken's impressive pedigree, the Bite & Chew left alot to be desired. Plump, yes. Crisp, no. Spicy, no. Hang together to the end, sort of. Of the local competition, Lovebird came in last. Just not worth the high end pretense, especially for what they put you through to reach that conclusion.

Gluten Free breaded chicken breast and wing.
    Peggy S.

The very best breaded chicken! You won't even know that it's gluten free! I also like their coleslaw with my chicken breast and wing. (I like white meat) They have a great menu of salads, bowls separates and family style. A lot of different sides are available, too!

8 Piece Chicken, Fries and Two (2) Sides
    Gerald H.

This chicken is the bomb and the sauces are the match that lights the fuse. Door dashed the order and it arrived still hot. This to me means the chicken was cooked fresh and my door dash driver was not too much of a pot head. Breading was light but carried flavor. The chicken was cooked perfect, not dry, but not gooey either - the way fried chicken generally comes from fast food and grocery stores. Sides were all on point and were of decent size. Maybe a little less salt on the fries (guys). All rhyming aside - Give Lovebird a try. It's the perfect dinner, with some left over for brea....lunch the next day.

Wow. Amazing. Tucked away but the food is PHENOMENAL. So fresh and tasty, high quality for a great price. I got the popcorn chicken with sweet chili, lovebird sauce, and honey mustard with a side of fries. Simply amazing. Blows chick fil a out of the water (closest comparison). They have gained a customer for life, and will probably be in weekly. Amazing.

LBLT sandwich with tofu plus fries and a ginger ale
    Jacquelyn G.

I was hesitant to agree to eat here until I learned of vegetarian options! So many times I often cannot eat at predominantly chicken restaurants due to lack of options. I first realized there was some salads which looked great but then noticed that for chicken sandwiches, you can sub in miso tofu instead of chicken. I opted to get the LBLT sandwich with no tomato or bacon and add in the tofu option. We were given grilled or crispy as the tofu options which was nice to have a choice. I chose crispy of course! The bun with the Mayo, avocado and butter lettuce were amazing compliments. I did find the the inside of the tofu to be a bit more moist than I prefer but the outside has a slight crisp to it! The fries were plentiful. I really loved the Boylan ginger ale option compared to standard ginger ale options at the store. Overall, not a bad choice!

Workers were cleaning each table and floor...it was very clean. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Our food was fresh, hot and delicious. It seems like every other drive through order is either wrong or missing items. The kids get all excited about Chik Fil A and by the time you get home and see the wrong order, everyone is bummed out. Then what are you going to do? Drive back and wait for a replacement? Or spend 10 minutes on the phone? Neither option is very fun or practical and what is supposed to be a big convenience is now a pain. Ordering in store is problematic at times too. For example, I recently ordered a Cobb Salad with grilled nuggets and got a Market Salad with cold chicken. When I mentioned it, they then gave me a sad looking Southwest Salad with grilled nuggets. By the way, neither of these is a Cobb Salad with grilled nuggets, which doesn't seem to be that complicated of an order. Nonetheless, the staff couldn't seem to get it right. The guys and girls that work here are actually quite nice and the company is very customer oriented, so I'm not understanding the disconnect between all that good stuff and the low accuracy order fulfillment. Whatever the reason may be, it certainly makes us stop by less than we have in the past.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich - This was the biggest disappointment. The chicken breast was extremely thick and had a grainy texture that made me wonder if it was chicken breast with rib meat. If that's the case, it gives the impression that quality isn't a priority. The breading also fell off with almost every bite, and the sandwich wasn't well proportioned (one oversized tomato slice that wasn't cut evenly). Most importantly, it didn't taste like Nashville hot at all -- more like "Nashville not." Shrimp Po' Boy - Below average. The shrimp had a slightly fishy taste, and the bread didn't resemble proper po' boy bread. The greens were a spring mix, which felt like an odd choice. Traditional shredded lettuce would have worked much better. I've had po' boys in Louisiana, and while I wasn't expecting complete authenticity, I was expecting something closer to the spirit of the dish. This version missed the mark. Smash Burger - Probably the best of the three mains we ordered, but still just average. I've honestly had better smash burgers at chains like Shake Shack. Sides: The fries were great. We ordered the beer cheese sauce, which was fine but not necessary. The onion rings were the standout -- perfectly crispy with a clean bite. The homemade ranch served with them was excellent. Overall, I really wanted to like this place more, but the food didn't deliver enough for me to return.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is the latest to have its grand opening in the new complex across from McCaffrey's Supermarket. Luckily the parking lot was completed on time, too, so there is plenty of parking available for it now, and hopefully when the other five kitchens are open for business at the same time. Walking in, the room is smaller than anticipated, with several high communal tables for people to eat & run. It wasn't so busy when I was there around 3:30. The assembly line concept seemed efficient, but I was causing a slowdown by asking too many questions. I'm generally not a fan of this approach to dining, so I needed instruction on some of the basics. In the end, a carne asada burrito was delivered to me at the end of the line - stuffed with brown rice, pinto beans, carne asada, queso, avocado and a few other things. It was stuffed to the gills with sour cream on the side. I took it home somewhat concerned the whole thing would explode, it was packed so tight! It was a tasty package with so many things going on that it all blended together in my mouth. Definitely a four napkin meal. I enjoyed it, although I could only finish half. As two meals the $11 tag seemed quite reasonable. I can see what people like about Chipotle. It uses fresh ingredients, is basically healthy with a little self control, and you can fit it into a lunch hour. But, if authenticity in Mexican cuisine is paramount for you, this burrito was no where near as delicious as can be found in any good Casa Mexicana elsewhere in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, or across the river in Trenton.
