I used to absolutely love this place been going there for a few years and I liked them much better than of but the last interaction in February the front office staff were catty and had poor attitude. I was sent elsewhere specialized and was supposed to return to this location so my eye exam could be . I been waiting to hear back from them to let me know they got the results so I can do my eye eyeglasses are really outdated. I finally couldn't wait any longer so I called them to touch base And they. make an appointment for me until they got my medical records. They reach out and get my medical records because they told me that they wouldn't do it even their literal responsibility. I asked to speak to a manager, and instead of her educating the front office staff about Customer Service. She went out of her way to call the insurance company and remove the charge for an eye exam. She could have easily reached out to Associates of New Mexico to get my. she took the time to reach out to the insurance so they would no longer see me. Garbage management. I love to support local, but not when it involves supporting a business who employees jerks who treat their patients like garbage. Go elsewhere. I would give ZERO stars if allowed. Very poor and unprofessional service. Family member made an appointment in Nov and could not be seen until Jan. When the appointment date finally arrives, member was told the doctor is sick and it needs to rescheduled. Reschedules for the next week and their glasses break before the appointment. Arrive at the rescheduled appointment and Lovato refused to provide service. Member did not have an insurance card on them, but provided all the necessary information before the appointment. Family member told them they would pay out of pocket, but Lovato still refused to see them. Very disappointed in the lack of service and failure to tell them 3 months ago they would not do the eye exam. Member lives out of town and has limited mobility. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and an unprofessional staff. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. I have gone to Lovato Eyecare for about 20 years, since he was on Bridge and 5 points. I have recommended this place for years! Today, I had the WORST time dealing with the front desk staff as well as the billing manager. My son has an eye appointment coming up and they called to Inform me that his insurance is not covering his eye exam. I said that was incorrect and to hold off while I confirm with BCBS. I called BCBS and confirmed he is covered for a routine eye exam once every 12 months and he is currently due for an eye exam, hence why he had an appointment set up. The BCBS rep I was on the phone with placed me on hold and called the office to inform them of the coverage he does have. After that I called Lovato to confirm myself and to continue with the appointment scheduled. Alisha was extremely RUDE and confrontational. While I was in the middle of explaining the issue and disconnect, she cut me off and said to have a good day and hung up on me. So of course I called back and asked what her problem is hanging up on customers trying to figure out where the disconnect was and why she was being a bitch. Now, I wouldn't have called her names if she wasn't acting any certain way and being rude. I called BCBS and thankfully got the same rep, so we called Lovato eye together because there clearly is some disconnect with what they see and what BCBS see, and if your staff can be PATIENT and understand that they might have wrong information. Alisha then placed us on hold and called the benefits manager (Debbie I believe, but I'm not sure) who said BCBS information is incorrect with Davis Centennial and he is not covered. Period. He is fully covered for either a routine eye exam as well as a refraction. Whatever information you have is incorrect and your staff is extremely rude. I have never been so appalled and disappointed before in my life. Extremely unprofessional. Please take your business elsewhere. read more

Everything went super smooth. I was able to complete all of my paperwork from my phone days before the appointment, as well as insurance stuff. At the end of my appointment, a lovely gentleman walked me through all of the frames I was interested in and let me know what insurance would cover, and not. He also cleaned each pair before snd after I tried them on, so I felt very safe during the pandemic. Once my prescription was ready I got curbside pick up with cleaning cloths and Instructions on how not to damage them. When I called back about a 2nd pair I was interested in getting, they had the frames on my file so they knew which ones I was talking about, and ordered them for me without having to come back in. read more

Best place in town to find nicer frames. I went to 5 other different places and I couldn't find anything I like. I came here and found multiple! The variety of models is the best I've seen in town (of course you can get to the higher price too) but honestly it is an investment for the next few years, so totally worth for me to have nice looking glasses that I wear every day. DO NOT BUY THE CRIZAL ANTIGLARE, IT DOESNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE (My prior lenses had better antiglare than this). Front desk staff was super courteous and the Optician (Una) was super helpful and friendly. Again, highly recommended place if you are looking for nice end looks. (They also had more affordable options, so I can tell there are models for all budgets in this place). I'm taking my husband here next. Update: My husband went there after my recommendation and he didnt have a pleasant experience. He was helped by Dino who try to push all kind of unnecessary add-on and too pushy for pricey stuff. I am a primary care physician, and I accompanied a patient of mine to Dr. Lovato for a cataract evaluation, to help with language translation. Due to language barriers, she has had months delay in attaining care for very mature cataract. The support staff at Dr. Lovato's clinic were kind and helpful. Dr. Lovato himself was very abrupt, lacked empathy and listening skills. Even after introducing myself as the patient's doctor, he ignored my questions and even the answers I provided to questions he asked. When he asked a question, he would interrupt me mid-answer or simply move away and ignore me. After a one-minute exam he quickly told us that he was unable to perform the surgery and would need to refer her elsewhere.While this was reasonable, when I tried to voice my concern about the need for translation services, he left the room without listening to my full concern - he moves away so quickly that you can barely keep him present for a question. If this is the care that an elderly, non-English speaking patient receives when there is another physician present, I can't imagine how Dr. Lovato treats these patients when they are on their own and unable to advocate for themselves. Seeing other reviews and the comments about the front office staff, I wasn't expecting much, but I needed my eyes looked at desperately and this office promised to fit me in today so I took the appointment. I was completely impressed with how professional every single employee I encountered was. They were all friendly, welcoming and happy to help in any way possible. Everyone was dressed professionally as well, which was a nice change from some of what you see in businesses today. Dr. Lovato himself was wonderful as well. I had seen an opthamologist elsewhere in Albuquerque in December for this same problem, but got no relief. Dr. Lovato let me know I had chronic dry eye and I left there today with a temporary solution and will be seen again in 30 days to see if that helps. If it does, great, if not, we can try Restasis or something else. I'm very glad I made an appointment here and for having been squeezed in at the last minute, I was never made to feel I was less important than their other patients, nor did I feel like anyone was rushing me in and out. Kudos to the entire staff at Lovato Eyecare. Not only will I return for my appointment in a month, but I will be purchasing my glasses here when they need to be replaced. read more

They have a good selection of frames (only reason they get the 2nd star). I'd suggest going there to try frames and then order them from someone else. They will sell you additional stuff that sounds good but does not work. I wear glasses only for night driving and computer work. So I was going to get the normal anti-glare on the lenses. Dino said it would not do much and I needed the Crizal anti-glare to really have an anti-glare that worked. $60 extra. So I get it. I does not do anything!! I went back in and told him there is no difference in glare with the glasses and without them. He said "Have you ever worn anti-glare glasses before?" Somehow it is my fault that they don't work. I told him I see the glare without the glasses and then I put them on and I still see the glare. Again he hints that I'm probably not used to wearing anti-glare glasses. Ha! There is either glare or there in not. Not to many ways to wear glasses so they either work or don't. Go for the frame selection but go somewhere else once you have the frame model numbers. read more

I needed a new eye doctor after a horrible experience at Stanton last year. I met Dr. Lovato and his team during a business interaction and was so impressed watching their interactions with their patients that I decided to give them a try. The team is wonderful! They take the time to explain to you what they are doing, their findings and what they would like to do. Hands down the best eye care experience I have experienced. Do not feel like a patient just another money source for them. Was referred to them by my pcp since I have been having medical issues with my vision. I call to set up an appointment and schedule it only to find out a couple days before that I have to reschedule because I was scheduled with the eye doctor and all "I need is a regular eye exam" so I reschedule to the following week to get a text from them late on Friday saying that my insurance may not cover the services and to check with my insurance. Which whatever is fine, luckily they're still open. I develop an eye thing/stye type over this same weekend. I call early Monday prior to my appointment to make sure I can still do my eye exam and the lady tells me yes that theyll just switch it back to an appointment with the eye doctor. I go to the appointment and wait to get called back and the MA (idk what their title is) asks what im there for and I start mentioning my eye problems when she mentioned theyre only going to see me for the eye stye and I'd have to come back for appointments which is not what I was told over the phone call. I did not see them wash or sanitize their hands when touching my swollen eye. Dr Lovato wasnt even in the room longer than 5 minutes,touched my eye said what I had, did his short assessment and was done. He never asked if I had any questions. He walked me out of the room and I had to ask him if I am contagious and he just looked at me like I was dumb and said no and walked away. The whole visit lacked interpersonal skills from the staff. It unfortunately didnt end there. The medication he prescribed is out of stock at my pharmacy due to the coronavirus situation. They never got back to me or the pharmacist in regards to us trying to get something else in its place until I called again today (3x) I finally reached them to ask if they could do something about it. They assure me that its been done and sent I even get the text message to confirm that its being sent to my pharmacy. This point I am over this whole experience and have canceled my eye exam. I hope they get it together and dont treat everyone like this. read more

I decided to give Lovato Eyecare a try because they were listed as a premium provider on the VSP portal. However, after several mishaps and a rude employee, I will absolutely NEVER return. 1. When I called to schedule, I specifically asked for both a contact and eyeglass exam. After my exam, I only received an eyeglass prescription. Apparently they made a scheduling error and said I had to come back again to see their contact lens doctor. 2. I returned two days later and took time off from work, again, for the contact lens exam. It lasted all of a couple minutes, in which they gave me a "trial pair" of the SAME prescription I walked in wearing and sent me on my way, charging me $75 dollars. The doctor didn't even look at my eyes, no measurement or anything. 3. After my second appointment, I went to checkout and spoke with a lady named Mary. I was trying to decide whether to use my eyeglass or contact lens insurance benefit, so I had her review all the options. She wasn't making complete sense but kept pressuring me to buy contacts through them, strongly stating how I'll "waste/lose some of my insurance benefit" if I dont use it all today. After a while, she actually started arguing with me and got very condescending and rude, speaking slowly to me and repeatedly circling items on her paper. I explained how I would probably buy through 1-800-Contacts like I've always done and have my insurance reimburse me. She was insistent that the exam and contacts are "bundled" and how I "just can't do that" (yet, I've done it before). I finally stopped and told her politely that I felt she was being rude, that I was just trying to understand the options but she shrugged it off - didn't bother to apologize or anything. Then, suddenly, she said something like "just forget it, I'll just bill the insurance... that's all." I told her "after all this, I won't be back" and she just stared at me, not saying a single word as I got up to leave. Unacceptable. read more

This place is Horrible. From Dr. Lovato, to his "Manager/Wife" Kathy, to their receptionist Ginger. I can't believe that I was treated so badly just because I called for an appointment... I had a few questions and the receptionist Ginger was very unhelpful, rude and she hung up on me because I didn't have my insurance info handy. After Ginger hung up on me, I tried calling back and asked to speak to a manager. I got Kathy Lovato's voicemail and asked her to call me back. She didn't call back so I tried calling Kathy back a week later and left her another voicemail. She never returned my call and my eye sight is getting worse, so I decided to call and attempt to make another appointment. When I called, they scheduled me for an appointment on 4-26-17 at 12:00 (noon). I had to take time off of work, went to my appointment and when I got there nobody helped me until I asked for help. They had the music in the lobby area, full blast, playing a song with bad-words in it. When someone finally came to help me, Kathy came out, introduced herself and walked me to her office. She said that Dr. Lovato was refusing to see me because I was rude to his employee. I asked her why they couldn't tell me this over the phone and why she never returned my calls to hear my side of the story. She basically said that they believe their employee's and she didn't have any reason to call me back to hear my side of the issue. And about them scheduling my appointment at 12, she said it was already schedule so they couldn't call me to change it. I believe that is a COMPLETE lie because NORMALLY, they do not schedule appointments at noon, according to the lady that went out to see why I had been waiting so long in the lobby. I was so humiliated and I can not believe that they treat their patient's this way...
