We took both of our poodles to have them groomed there. They cut out toy poodle on the side with clippers, but didn't mention it to us when we picked him up. Shortly afterward,...we noticed that our toy started coughing. We took him to our vet and was told that he had contracted kennel cough. This is the ONLY place that we took him for grooming during that time so we're sure that this is where the infection came from. We are VERY DISAPPOINTED with the quality of service that we received from their grooming services. They lack any screening process for sick animals who can come in contact with your loved ones. We will definitely NOT use their services again or patronize their store. read more

The people here are absolutely wonderful! I have just moved to the area and was upset to find out that the food I was feeding my dog (which I thought was a great brand) was subpar and on top of that was experiencing anxiety from our move and refusing to eat. I had done some research on the highest quality dog foods on the market and was determined to track them down. I was so happy and relieved when I walked in and saw that they literally carried all of them! They worked with me and took the time to talk to me and try to find the best food for my dog. When I came back because my dog still wouldn't eat, again, they stopped what they were doing and talked to me about other foods that would still correlate with her other foods main ingredient so it wouldn't hurt her stomach too bad. I'm so grateful to this staff as well as this store. I couldn't have asked for a better resource for all your pets needs. If I could leave no stars I would. I've been a customer sine they first opened I've had a few issues but nothing that made me feel as if I wanted to change groomers. Well that's all changed. On June the 4th I brought my two corgis and my 15 year old corgi mix. My two corgis get bathed and their little butts trimmed also nails and their teeth brushed. My 15 year old gets trimmed all over and the nails and teeth. My appointment was at three and they called me at six to pick them up. As anyone knows when picking up multiple dogs it's very hectic. When we got outside I noticed my dog dash blinking his eye I thought maybe the sun was in his eye well by the time we got home his eye was completely swelled shut my other dog the 15 yr old I noticed blood on his chest. He was cut to the skin from his ear to chest. I was beyond upset and of course they were closed so I called the next day and explained everything she asked me to bring them in. At this point I was just going to show them my dogs and ask why they let me leave the day before without saying a word. I don't have the fortitude to say all that happened but with photos taken of my dogs they just kept denying everything even calling me a liar over and over. I was standing there with my dog and I had two women screaming at me saying horrible things even saying my dog dash was a extremely violent dog and he got soap I his eye. Well according to our vet he has a really bad scratched cornea. I will never go back to these people ever again. How dare they treat my dogs like they did. I wasn't asking for money back I just wanted a apology and to find out why I wasn't informed. They turned it into something I don't wish on anyone. I sent the owner an email and even she wasn't a good enough person to answer. Almost 13 years as a client and I get silence. Please please don't bring your animals to these awful awful people. read more

I'm surprised that Brian A had such a bad experience. I've been taking my Chinese crested hairless' and powder puff to Rae for years now. Only bad experience we've had was when she had a new groomer in who had no idea what a powder puff should look like and gave him a weird Shih Tsu cut. No problem, we make sure only Rae grooms Mr Tree. Rae is awesome and will talk to you about any problems you have or concerns, she even took the time to help me pick out a shaver so I can do touch-ups at home. That shows a real concern for the dogs! And she knows it wouldn't take much business from her since I refuse to shave their faces. ;) I guess I can see how Brian had a bad experience. I've run into some less than great groomers in there myself. Which is why only the head groomer even touches my dogs now. You want to know about bad grooming experience, try Petsmart sometime. read more

We are new to Billings and brought our schnoodle to Lovable Pets with explicit schnauzer cut instructions from our previous groomer. Instead of following them and giving her a schnauzer cut, she got the Chihuahua butcher; leaving cut marks on what was left of her beard, skirt and legs. A $50 dollar hack job. They offered no apologies at our obvious displeasure of not following the instructions, just deer in the headlight stares. At least she smelled good when we brought her home. We changed her name from Bella to Buzz Aldrin until her hair grows back. read more

Okay, so here's the thing, this review is in regards to the grooming at Lovable Pets, which I stopped going to in the spring. I went there because I had had my dog go through the obedience training, which I will say was wonderful. The woman who worked with all of us was great - she knew how to handle both the dogs and the owners. Because of that, I took my dog to the grooming salon a few times. While it seemed a bit pricey, I didn't know anywhere else to go, so I went with what I knew. However, the final time that I took my dog (which will be the final time I EVER take my dog into that store) was such a traumatic experience I'll never go back. I should have known when I was bringing him in that he wasn't getting the best treatment. He behaved worse/more afraid than when we go to the vet (he hates the vet). He was whining and trying to get away, panicking and crying. I figured he was just being a baby, so I handed him over, reminded them what I'd requested on the phone, and then left. I always request the same person, because she's so awesome with animals. They didn't call for quite some time, but that's pretty normal for groomings anywhere. When they did call, I immediately went to pick him up. When I got there, I could see him behind the glass, as they had forgotten about doing his toenails. While I watched (I have no idea if he can see out that little window or not), I saw him struggling and crying as they handled him in a way that I didn't appreciate. Not only that, but neither person working with him were the girl I had requested. While I'm sure that they have to deal with obnoxious dogs, and mine might be one of them, I still didn't appreciate it. By the time they brought him out to me, he was a nervous wreck. Instead of setting him down like I normally do to walk on his own (he's a bigger small dog, or a smaller medium dog), he clung to me, shaking like a leaf. He spent a whole day at home cowering like something was wrong. After that, I decided not to take him back. I went to a different groomer and had no problems whatsoever, my dog not being at all affected in the times we've been to the new place like he was here. I'm sure they have animal lovers who are great, but to show up and find your furbaby and best friend in such a state is inexcusable. I won't be returning for grooming. The only reason I wrote this review is because when I saw the way the owner reacts to every negative post, completely ignoring or refuting any complaint, I felt my piece needed to be said. These aren't unique cases. They're real. Your customers are genuinely upset about their babies, and to belittle them or their opinions is bad business. read more

I have been a customer for over a year and after the the government let the pet groomers reopen due to the covid, I reached out to my dogs groomer. They told me the first time I called to call back after they reschedule everyone on the books. I thought okay, but weird I can do that, especially if you are in the customer service business. I called again a few weeks later and they told me they are booked out through the end of June (which I completely understand) BUT TO CALL BACK AGAIN TO SCHEDULE A APPOINTMENT. I was upset. I said no thanks. This is the SECOND time you have asked me to call back. I will find a different dog groomer. What I don't understand is why didn't they just schedule me? I'm a busy woman and why are they making me wait while others keep scheduling? I'm disappointed and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! read more

I am 65 years old with stiff joints and am the happy owner of a 15 1/2 year old Siberian Husky, Charlie. We have spent almost all of his life together and at his advanced age, he get anxious if anyone else grooms him. We recently discovered the self-grooming area in the back of Lovable Pets. The staff helped me lift Charlie into a tub that was easy for me to wash him in and also assisted me in moving him to the grooming table. Positive experience for both me and my "old guy." Love this place for do-it-yourself dog washes! Ramp to get the dogs into the bath. Shampoo, towels, brushes, nail clippers, towels: all supplies necessary for a well groomed pooch. Staff is incredibly friendly. Definitely worth $15 to keep my bathtub free from dog hair and grime. read more

This business should be called lovable dogs! I went in to get my cats some new toys and they had one tiny section devoted to cats that included about 2 different toys and a small variety of food. No bakery items for cats. This business seems to be all about dogs only. I was very disappointed and will not be back, even if I get a dog. read more

I had been referred to Lovable Pets by my mom. We had been happy with our groomer, and for the most part, our general experiences there. However, at our last appointment when I picked my dogs up, I smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming POSSIBLY from the groomer or the back room where she had brought my dogs from. I wanted to get my dogs out of there quickly so I could inspect them. After discussing the "odor" with my family, we decided it would be best to let the manager know just in case, and let them handle it. I reported the incident the next day to the owner. She was very polite, and apologetic. She said they would look into it right away of course. She asked what I hoped to get out of this, and I said that I would like a phone call back, letting me know IF someone had been smoking while my dogs were there. I said IF it turns out that the groomer was smoking, than I would like our money back, or at least the tip. (The money was not the issue AT ALL). She said absolutely, and seemed professional. Whatever transpired after that, is still a mystery to me.... However it was all relayed or discussed, and somehow it was decided that the Salon Manager would call me back, rather than the owner (woman I spoke with). This woman had a completely different tone. She was unprofessional, and accusatory from the start. She initiated the conversation saying, that I would not be getting my money back. That I was so insulting to she and the groomers. That I was passive, and should have told her that when I was paying her "yesterday". (I had NO idea that this woman had any sort of managerial role at the store. When I called back that same day to speak to a manager, I was told no managers were at work that day). The Salon Manager berated me for being rude, immature, and insulting. She told me that she was shaking because of how upset I had made her, and that I had made the groomer cry. I continually asked her to calm down, that what she was saying is not how it all went, and that I'd prefer to speak to the owner whom I had originally complained to. She said NO, that she would be handling it. There was no ounce of decency, professionalism, or respect for the customer. I told her that if she continued talking to me in such a rude manner, that she would lose my family and friends' business. She said it did not matter, because she was so insulted by me, etc. ****Let me note, that she DID NOT ever offer an explanation as to what the odor could have been. Had she handled this situation professionally, and said, "We're sorry you think you smelled that, but in fact it was a ____________", I would have been fine, but instead she was on the attack. I was on speaker phone, and able to write much of our conversation down. She told me she would be cancelling my next appointment. I then called back and spoke with the owner (owner's husband).... you may have seen some of his comments on other negative reviews. Instead of ever addressing the customer's concerns, he seems to have the habit, of calling the customers untruthful, etc. (see JJ J.'s 2014 post) as he did to me on the phone. When I called him, and told him who I was, he literally chuckled, knowing exactly who I was. I said that I had just been spoken to quite rudely by his salon manager, and he said, "Yeah, I was standing right next to her while she was on the phone." I then asked him if he was comfortable with how his employee had spoken to a customer and he said "yes". He was completely accusatory just as his salon manager. I was on speaker phone again, and my husband was writing down what was said. It is all documented. He said that the version I was telling him was not true, and that I had said that the groomer REEKED of pot, and that I wanted my money back, etc. I said that is not at all how I worded it, and that he was not on the original call when I spoke with his wife. He also told me that I had made the groomer cry, and said that he would have been upset had I accused him of doing drugs too. He completely sided with his salon manager, and had again, not an ounce of professional dignity toward a customer. All he did was talk down to me, and try to spin the whole situation as if it was my fault. He never gave any reason as to why that odor was present. He told me I wouldn't be getting my money back, and that he didn't know what I expected from him. The groomer than called my mom, to ask her to keep bringing her dogs. She said that her managers told her that I said she was stoned out of her mind, and demanded my money back. My mom told her that that is not what happened, and that she was sorry they misinformed her. I hope the owner will learn from this and not allow her husband and salon manager to deal with customer complaints. They completely lack in tact. Luckily, there are a lot of other grooming facilities in the area, and we know we will find one that is a better fit. read more

I arrived to pick up my Australian Shepard from her bath and brush appointment which was made a month in advance due to Lovable Pets being booked out. Note that my buddy has had several previous appointments, generally on Sunday mornings with a lone wonderfully friendly groomer who has always been wonderfully professional and pleasant. Unfortunately this reference is regarding a Tuesday afternoon. As I approached the grooming arena I could hear my dog howling from behind the one way mirror that separates the public's view from what appears to be a collection of humane society crates and the bath area. Interestingly, there were several other dogs free in the open grooming area and in the 9 years I've been blessed to share my dog's companionship I've never noticed any issues with her not getting along with other dogs. I couldn't help but wonder why my best buddy wasn't hanging with the crowd? Muffling my dog's howls was the loud sound of what could have been an industrial compressor, which might have been the reason the employee who brought my dog out from behind the mirror was wearing industrial ear protection...or maybe it was the howls from a buddy held prisoner in a 2x2 cage? My dog was trembling when she saw me, which is generally not a good sign. When I inquired about my best friend's behavior the disinterested groomer who gladly swiped my credit card said she was wonderful. Unfortunately, I've spent a lot of money at Lovable Pets regarding bones, toys, grooming, and such. It's important to support small business, however I cannot and will not go back after the indifference and apathy I experienced. Word of mouth is a powerful concept and I certainly hope some changes are made with regards to the grooming of best friends. Why should a customer experience such service after making an appointment well in advance and with such indifference? I will look elsewhere for grooming services and will certainly make my unpleasant experience known to others. Lovable Pets should reflect on what makes the business. read more

I'd like to say that we have always had a good experience at Lovable Pets. When we come into town from over 150 miles away, I have stopped in to use their self wash. Which is always clean, spells clean. I have gone into many other type of pet stores both in Montana and other states that wash or have self wash stations and they are not clean compared to this business. Some visits I need food, and they always help and understand their products and how to help animals. The owners are always busy helping customers and show great care and passion for all four legged creatures that I have witnessed. read more

I had my puppy groomed there. He was visibly shaking and tramautized when I picked him up. The girl said he had been crying so loud, it sounded like there was a newborn child in the place. (Why was my usually quiet dog "crying"?? Maybe because she was hurting or scaring him...hmmmm. She seemed to have no sympathy that maybe the young puppy was frightened of his new surroundings). She also seemed very pushy. She had "taken the liberty" of giving him one of their treats, and had samples set out for me because they didn't think his coat was looking good enough and should have "grain free" foods. That may be so, but he is also only 4 months old... and I do not enjoy anyone giving my 2 lb puppy treats without my knowledge or approval. What if it would have upset his tummy, or he had an allergy? Lastly, she told me he needs obedience classes and had the info all set out for me. Needless, to say I am not going back. My puppy has found a groomer that takes care of him, and there is no more "crying". Dogs should not be visibly tramautized after there visit. Maybe this place needs staff workers that actually enjoy animals, and take the time to make them feel comfortable before diving right in. After my experience, I visited with a friend who said her dog had been there and had bloody paws (from cutting nails to close to the quick), buzz marks near her pet's eyes, and a "hot spot" or burn from the blow drier. I like Lovable Pets and my review pertains to the grooming side of the business. Open 7 days a week? Awesome! This means that I can schedule an appointment for my dog on Saturday or Sunday and she can be groomed while I run errands for a couple hours. She doesn't have to spend 6+ hours at the groomers which is very stressful for a dog. Prices seem a little bit higher than some other places but my dog also seems happy and comfortable when I pick her up. Worth the few estra bucks to me. When we would go to the former groomer my dog would pull at the door, she didn't want to go in the building. She would start to shake and always piddle on the floor. Not a good sign. I don't get that reaction at Lovable Pets. There seems to be less activity on the weekends and that also means less stress and a more comfortable experience for my dog. There are windows on the bakery & boutique side of the business so you can actually observe your dog and not interrupt the grooming process. The place is small but clean with an updated look. Staff is very friendly and really takes the time to evaluate my dog and her coat condition. Katie has been our groomer and I highly recommend her. She is very patient, takes the time to listen to what I want - I never feel rushed, and she really seems to like dogs. You know that when you meet a groomer that doesn't even seem to like their clients it is not a good thing! Not the case with our groomer, Katie. She has given me recommendations on styles that work best on my breed and suggested a different type of collar that causes less matting. I highly recommend The Salon at Lovable Pets. read more
