Not a problem they tell me, will make sure you get it. Phew. Then I get her remains back and ask where is her pony tail. They glued it to the pawprint!!! A awful glob of hair that resembles a nasty mat. My pretty pony had the nicest white crest, a long silky WHITE crest. What I got could only be hair from her ear fringe. Disgusted, disappointed and really ticked would be me. I just informed my vet office I will not be using this service again. And seeing as I have more pets at home they just lost out on over $1000.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and nice. What a difference a year makes…read more I first stopped in to Help for Homeless Pets during one of their "open" events. While the people working here were fine, the facility itself was an "oh my gawd get me out of here so I can breathe" place. I understand space limitations, and volunteer staffing, but the place smelled horrible. Pet shelters are bad enough, leaving me with a strong urge to take the animals home or set them free; but dealing with that smell . . .uh .... no. just no. Heartbreak all around. Fast forward to a little over a year later. Again, the volunteers were absolutely incredible. They deserve all the kudos they can be given. After taking a deep breath before I walked in, I first noticed the normal (e.g. not gag-reflex inducing) odor of a pet shelter. It was like they installed a new air filtration system and along with it, improved the lighting. I had a hard time believing it was the same place. HHP is not a large facility. It has fairly large cages, wire on all sides, except for the ones along the wall. The dogs appear to be in individual cages, mostly, unless they're small dogs and then might be in twos; and the cats, about 4 or 5 or so are in the larger cages as you first walk in, but some, depending on temperament, are solo. There are also cages out in front of the building and in a back room. I still hated to leave all those animals behind, but wow -- I'm impressed with how well HHP has improved. I've not adopted any animals, so I cannot speak to potential health issues of any of them as noted by other reviewers, but the staff does an incredible job keeping up with the resources they have.

In fact, we were back in approximately 10 minutes. More importantly, before we left, the staff specifically assured us that if we returned with the paperwork, our dog would be groomed. We immediately did exactly what we were asked to do and returned with the paperwork well within the timeframe we were given. We relied on what your staff told us, followed the instructions, and made every effort to comply. To then be told that our dog could not be groomed because of the timeline is extremely frustrating and does not match what actually happened. We expect a business to stand behind what its employees tell customers. If the policy or timeframe was different, that should have been clearly explained to us from the beginning rather than after we had done exactly what we were instructed to do.

They know him and he knows them. He is so happy to be there. While he is there we sometimes ask them to trim and file his nails, and they are prefect. Today I asked (last minute) if they would clean his ears as I noticed they were still bothering him, even after I asked a different groomer to clean them 5 days prior. After having his ears cleaned at Groomingdales we saw a remarkable change in that he didn't scratch at or shake his head even one time.
