Tonight, I had the unfortunate experience of having to take my 12-week-old puppy to the emergency vet after a mishap while giving him some peanut butter on a plastic spoon. Unfortunately, he ended up biting off and swallowing part of the spoon.
We immediately called our veterinarian, who recommended taking him to Moorelane Emergency Animal Hospital. Naturally, I was extremely upset with myself over what had happened, and I was worried sick about my puppy. On top of that, I had heard some less-than-positive things about this emergency animal hospital, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when we arrived.
However, from the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with kindness and compassion. Despite my initial concerns, everyone we encountered did everything they could to care for my puppy and help us through such a stressful situation.
I want to give a heartfelt thank-you to everyone at the front desk, the nurses, and especially Dr. Haworth. Everyone was patient, understanding, and reassuring during a time when I was scared and unsure of what would happen next. Not knowing whether my puppy would need surgery or what the outcome might be was incredibly difficult, but the kindness and calmness of the staff made a world of difference.
I don't typically share my religious beliefs publicly, but tonight, I found myself praying for my puppy, for the situation, and for the people caring for him. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this experience, but I truly felt a sense of peace and kindness in that facility. I felt God's presence through the compassion and care shown to us, and I am genuinely grateful for everyone who played a part in helping us through this frightening moment.
I also wanted to share this experience because I know there are many negative reviews out there, and I understand that not everyone has the same experience. When it comes to our animals, emotions run incredibly high. Our pets are family, our fur babies, and seeing them hurt or potentially facing something serious is heartbreaking. Every situation is different, and I don't want to minimize anyone else's experience.
At the same time, I think it's important to remember that an emergency animal hospital operates much like a human emergency room. Emergency care can be expensive, and veterinary hospitals have costs associated with providing urgent medical treatment, staffing, and the resources needed to care for our animals. I completely understand that finances can be difficult, especially right now, and I say that with compassion. I simply hope we can also recognize the people who dedicate their time and skills to helping our pets when they need it most.
The team at Moorelane Emergency Animal Hospital deserves recognition for the kindness and care they showed us tonight. I walked in feeling scared, overwhelmed, and worried about my puppy, and I left feeling incredibly grateful for the people who helped us through it.
To everyone who helped care for my little fur baby tonight, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your patience, compassion, and reassurance meant more to me than you may ever realize. I truly hope you see this post and know how appreciated you are. You made a frightening night a little easier, and you deserve all the recognition and praise for the work you do.
