Very disappointing experience with Love Med Spa, started at Chelsea location -- I would not return.
I went to Love Med Spa in Chelsea in late August/September 2025 for PDO threads. The procedure was extremely painful, and the result on the left side of my face failed almost immediately. I was left with a visible lump on my cheek that looked like a large cystic acne bump and remained for months.
I was told that I needed to wait for the threads to dissolve before anything could be done, and Love Med Spa offered me a complimentary CO laser treatment in the meantime. Unfortunately, that treatment did very little to address the problem, and I also experienced a burn at the base of my neck during the laser treatment. I was subsequently told that I was not a good candidate for CO laser treatment because of my skin. That explanation was extremely frustrating given what had happened.
I was eventually scheduled for a redo of the PDO threads in March 2026 at their Brooklyn location with Dr. Ahmed. I want to be fair and say that Dr. Ahmed himself was professional, gentle, and handled the procedure far better than my original experience. However, I believed this appointment was the corrective treatment for the unsuccessful original procedure and therefore expected it to be provided at no charge.
Instead, after the procedure, while I was still feeling sick, emotional and overwhelmed from the treatment, I was unexpectedly presented with a bill. I was told that the records did not indicate that the redo was supposed to be free. I was put on a Cherry payment plan and paid approximately $200 toward it. I was also told that the payment amount would be looked into and that I would be contacted.
I followed up repeatedly by text. I never received the promised follow-up about reducing the charge. I also never received a meaningful post-procedure check-in to ask how I was healing or whether I was experiencing pain. The only response I eventually received was a generic message about their phone numbers being changed in the system.
The second set of threads also did not provide the lasting result I was hoping for. Within approximately one to two months, the tightening effect had largely disappeared.
What has been most upsetting is not simply that a cosmetic procedure didn't work. Things can go wrong with medical and cosmetic treatments. What matters is how a business handles it afterward. In my experience, Love Med Spa did not handle this situation responsibly or compassionately.
I gave them multiple opportunities to address the situation directly before deciding to share my experience publicly. I am now disputing the remaining balance because I do not believe I should have been charged for corrective treatment following an unsuccessful original procedure, particularly after being told the issue would be addressed.
I am sharing this because anyone considering PDO threads or other treatments here should understand that my experience involved an unsuccessful initial procedure, months of dealing with the resulting problem, an additional treatment that caused another issue, an unexpected charge for the subsequent procedure, and extremely poor communication afterward.
My experience was not what I expected from a professional medical spa, and I would not personally return. read more
