When he arrived, he first inspected the shower through the sheetrock opening in the downstairs ceiling and suggested that it was one of two things. He ran out to his truck and returned to troubleshoot the issue, this time from the shower itself. To our relief, it was a relatively simple fix that he said we could handle ourselves and then took the time to explain what we'd need to do. As he approached the door to leave, my husband asked him what we owed him, and he refused payment. Throughout our 35 years as homeowners, we've had to hire many tradesmen, a few of whom simply did shoddy work and many of whom did (what we believe to be) quality work. Regardless of the outcome, every time we decide that a professional needs to be called, our first thought is "What's this gonna cost us?" Once the work is done and paid for, there's often the additional lingering concern that the charge didn't include inflated billable hours, unwarranted work, etc. This isn't a commentary on tradesmen, just a common concern of laymen who need their expertise and, unavoidably, are at their mercy. Our short interaction with James spoke to his work ethic, honesty, and integrity, qualities that are more and more hard to come by. Without question, we wouldn't hesitate to hire him next time we need a plumber.

The van arrived a bit early (!!), and this valve was quickly replaced, and another small plumbing job at the kitchen sink was taken care of. But here's a suggestion: don't agree to do a job provide a proposal by a date certain and then just ignore two or three follow up emails as a potential customer's time runs out. Pretty simple. We move on. Actually worked out better - found a far more reliable, friendly local plumber who was responsive and charged me $200 less. I should have known Service Tech wasn't reliable when they - well Denny, just threw out a nearly $600 flat quote to install one simple bathroom faucet...without ever seeing the job. I asked if he wanted the model number for the faucet. No need for that when he had no intent to follow through. Makes me wonder about all the other positive reviews. Maybe they were customers who paid for more expensive jobs. What a shame I just had a faucet.

I told him "no" and he offered a $100 discount with a 6 month warranty. I told him to leave. The whole thing was a waste of time for a company that insisted they can't give a quote over the phone - but when they arrive, they don't even look at the sink and just give a verbal quote. Pretty sure you could have done that over the phone and avoided wasting everyone's time.

Josh did most of the work and was very professional, tested everything well before leaving, was thorough and was very easy to work with. The scheduling of the appointments through Amanda and others in the office went well too. I had been a long time customer when Tom was there too but have not experienced issues more recently with them as others have expressed in their reviews. Luckily we have not had major A/C or plumbing issues so I can't say whether that would be different so you'll have to assess for yourself based on all of the reviews listed.

Water stains on the 1st floor ceiling from a toilet that was removed and replaced (you don't even want to know why they did this). The replaced bathroom ceiling fan was not set right, so there is an ugly gap next to it. For the minimal work they did, they charged me over $1,000, then they tried to charge me another $600 for replacing the flapper and flusher in the toilet (I kid you not - $20 of parts, 5 minutes of work = $600). What a great company this used to be.
