Above & beyond when it mattered the most. I got the text from my Wife that no one wants to see when they're in the middle of an event "we need a plumber ASAP." November 26th (the night before Thanksgiving) at 7:38pm. She was prepping and suddenly there was a water leak in the kitchen coming from the cabinets and it had even run down into the basement from the ceiling above that area. After contacting multiple plumbers and getting exactly what you'd expect on Thanksgiving Eve, no answer or we'll get to you Friday/Saturday. Michael responded just before 10pm and by 11:03pm he was at our house assessing the situation, and got right to work. He managed to have the perfect balance of work and getting things done and making great conversation. Even when I would walk away to not hover, he just liked having a good convo while working. When I started to fade from the time, he never slowed down, he stayed alert, positive, & friendly the entire time. He worked until just before 4am to repair the problem and get us back on course to host Thanksgiving. After he cleaned up the area, took out trash, removed debris and never wavered due to the hour. It's worth noting that he ran a vacuum hose while cutting, removing insulation, & any other time he would generate dust particles so that it wouldn't get all over. Like many other people have said on here, Michael works very slowly. When we read that, it did not present an issue for us in theory, as we figured slow work was good work. Unfortunately, in our experience, the opposite is the case. On our job, it seemed as if Michael was figuring out how to do things in real time, which is what slows the work down. And most of the things he did for us broke or leaked within days. Our takeaway was that Michael is a hobbiest (and very nice person), just not a professional plumber, which we needed. Longer story below for those curious. We hired Michael to do several things in our new house, install a water filter under the kitchen sink, and two faucets. It is not an exaggeration to say, it took Michael almost 9 hours to install the first faucet. To his credit, there was some new plumbing to be installed under the sink to feed the faucet, but 9 hours was way beyond anything we had anticipated. For refference, when we later had someone else come fix Michael's work, a similar amount of work was done in under 1 hour. Aside from taking incredibly long, Michael's work was also extremely iffy. The water filter he installed leaked immediately and stained the area under our sink. He blamed it on the water filter -- we ended up buying a new one and another plumber installed it without issue -- ie, we believe Michael broke the first one while installing it which led to the leak. He also installed the water filter faucet in a place that does not run into the sink, which we now have to deal with. It runs 1/8 inch too short, so if we run the faucet without a cup under it, it just pours onto the counter rather than into the sink. To be fair, we could have caught this before install potentially, but when you hire a professional, the hope is they will be aware of issues like this and help you avoid them. Michael does not have that expertise. Then, the faucet he installed in our upstairs bathroom (which took about 8 hours to install) came loose in our hand and pulled off the counter. We reached out to Michael for a refund due to almost everything he did at our house coming apart or breaking (at this point we had paid him almost a thousand dollars) and he said he would be happy to come back and fix it all instead. We did not trust the work at that point, and with plumbing for us that is a big problem. We hired someone else, and they fixed it all quickly and efficiently (and more affordably). read more

My kitchen sink was clogged for over a week when I called Michael for an emergency service. Roto Rooter came out and was unable to resolve the issue. I called Michael and left a voicemail after hours and he called me back the same night. We made an appointment for him to come out the next morning. Michael arrived on time, identified the issue, and worked all day to resolve it. His fee was more than reasonable for the work he performed. He cleaned up after he was done and was extremely professional. This was a major inconvenience for us and I am so glad I found Michael on Yelp to help us out. I called Mike at 10 pm on a Sunday night before Labor Day because of a leak in our basement. He was willing to come out that night, but we agreed first thing the next day would be fine, on the holiday. He knows his stuff - he was able to deduce a lot from small clues in the basement and we found the source of the leak, which was coming from upstairs. He fixed it quickly and charged a reasonable rate. He also fixed some other things while he was here, which was really helpful, and tries to not recommend replacement or charge for anything that doesn't need it. Michael has been a lifesaver for my wife and I. We bought our house in 2022 with mostly old appliances that were clearly flipper specials. Because of that and the neglect of prior owners a lot started to break down over the last two years. Michael has fixed each and every single thing that has gone wrong. He does not overcharge for labor, and is very fair with pricing for any supplies that need to be picked up to get the job done. He has installed a new waterheater, changed a very clogged water pipe, secured an old toilet, fixed our heater, and so many other things. He has helped make our lives easier so much. An example of thouroughness, when he replaced our toilet this past week, he first made sure the new toilet had no cracks before ripping out the old toilet. He then inspected the old toilet to make sure the issues weren't something like needing a new flapper(and thus not requiring a new toilet) before even installing the new toilet. He offered to show up right there and then, which was surprising because when other places called back, they were telling me the next available appointment is a few days. I called Mike when we had trouble flushing the toilet. He was very responsive and came by promptly, within a couple of hours. He took the time to diagnose the problem, clearly explained the problem and the fix, cleaned up after replacing the fill valve, and gave me follow-up instructions as well. Mike did a terrific job clearing an ENORMOUS clog in my kitchen sink drain! He came right over and worked for 7 hours to clear the clog. He was determined to solve the problem, no matter what. His creativity and tenacity paid off and he finally broke through the massive clog. He even came back the next day and worked another 4 hours to ensure the pipe was totally open.
