I had a staff member greet me and come over to answer questions. There was another customer with us at the same time and the staff member handled questions from both of us and explained their products very well. Once we had gotten up to speed on the produces available I was left to browse and asked to come back over if I had any questions. Don't be fooled by the exterior of this building. It is older and I was wondering as I entered the store if I should have even bothered with the drive. I am very glad that I did. The store is very well kept, clean and laid out nicely. There is a huge of types of leather, colors treatment. Lots of items on sale or clearance for bargain hunters and a large selection of premium leathers and hides as well. The majority of the stock seems to fall in the middle ground of very good quality for a reasonable (reasonable for leather at any rate :) ) prices. If you are making something and need leather you are going to find what you need here. More likely you will have a problem making a choice from all the selections available. They even have fluorescent colors and metallic foils. They also carry dyes if you're working with natural leather too. Shop here I don't think you will be disappointed. I wasn't.

A very small leather purse started at $50. There are copies of Coach and Burberry designs and although there is an authentic line of Guess bags and owner is friendly, it wouldn't warrant a second visit from me.

On Google, it's Fish Creek Leather Alteration and Shoe Repair. Maria's did such a great job fixing up my boots, making them look brand new for a reasonable price. It only took them a couple of days, and they fixed them just in time for the huge snow dump. Service was friendly, I got a phone call when my boots were done, and I didn't have to pay for them until I picked them up. Happy cozy feet at a reasonable price. Check them out if you've got a wonky zipper or a dress that needs taking in.

Regardless of the Loonie - US Dollar exchange rate, I also find Roots stuff to be a bit dear price wise. That's why the Outlet stores (I've been to the ones in both Calgary and Edmonton) are worth checking out first. This particular Roots just happened to have some nice sales when I was there, so their great and stylish selection of clothes and accessories were even more tempting this time around.

Huge selection of boots of all materials, even some that are illegal to buy in the States: alligator, kangaroo, python (and, of course, bull hide). I'm no cowboy, so I felt a bit lost. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and they made sure I was fit properly. They also instructed me on proper care and gave me the necessary leather care and even a boot jack. Prices vary, and the exotic leather boots are not cheap. However, that's because they're high quality. For myself, I settled on two pairs of python skin boots (I couldn't decide).
