2 of my girlfriend's were in town, one who's from "The D" and the other is from Cleveland. My girlfriend from Detroit sugguest Louie's and I'm glad she did (but I'm also mad she's just now telling me...lol) Our group was pretty big, so we had a little bit of everything...and everything was good. Navy Bean soup - flavorful and hearty Gyro - I wish the gyro meat was carved, but the homemade tzatziki sauce made me forget all about that Strawberry cheesecake stuffed French toast - the toast was light and fluffy, very good Sausage biscuits and gravy - "chefs kiss". I'll have that next time, for sure Fried shrimp - perfect blend of crunchy/crispy breading and perfectly cooked shrimp And the service - even better than the food. My absolute favorite breakfast place. Great lunch too. The family that runs this place is so kind and loving, I've been coming here with my mother for years. I always get the eggs Benedict for breakfast and my mom always sticks with a good old ham sandwich. Ham is nice and thick cut, super delicious on some thick rye bread! They have an amazing selection to choose from, for breakfast and lunch and I've never tried anything that was bad! An absolutely excellent establishment. The focus on ham and corned beef is wondeful yes, but they also have wacky little things on that menu, like a burger with jalapeños and and chicken bacon melt, stuff like that. Generally something for everyone. Staff is also pretty great and seems to enjoy working there for the most part. Had a waitress stick up for her co-worker who was being accosted by rude customers on a busy day and the rest of the staff was behind the decision. I appreciated this. A great family owned restaurant which makes awesome sandwiches, and other things. I've gone in and had three different sandwiches and all have been delicious. If you have read any of my other reviews, you know that I like to work my way through a menu. But I will have to say that their turkey, coleslaw, cheese and Russian dressing sandwich is my favorite. I love the fact that you can get a half sandwich and a bowl of soup. It's great for those days you don't necessarily want to have any leftovers. Prices are reasonable and the food is plenty. Each and every time I come here the food has been delicious, the service impeccable, and a full tummy on my way out. This place is close to my office, and everyone knows and loves Louie's! It is not uncommon to see a delivery driver at our office multiple times a day for both breakfast and lunch. Never had a bad meal there. The soups are great. Service (both at the restaurant and delivery) is always nice, and fast. Dining room is very clean. Parking can get a bit tricky during lunchtime rush but don't let that turn you away. The Ruben is my absolute fav here. the salads are huge and they do not skimp on the protein. I was visiting friends in the area and they wanted to go here to grab a sandwich. Boy did I get a sandwich!! My friend had a corned beef that was piled high with meat..seems like 2 sandwiches could have been made out of that meat! I had a chicken sub. That was the biggest sub I have ever had! I had to use a fork & knife to eat it! It took me 2 meals to finish it and I was stuffed after each meal. It had several large pieces of marinated chicken breast piled high and the flavor of the chicken was very tasty. Our waitress was great - I forgot her name but overheard her saying she had been there 12 years. She was quick, friendly and didn't seem upset over 2 young kids and there many requests. So disappointed!! This location was a disappointment. The corn beef was dry and they barely put any on the sandwich, definitely more bread than corn beef. The salad was 90% iceberg lettuce, the chicken on the salad was dry and fried to a crisp in a bad way, I didn't ask if they had the marinated chicken. The breakfast was the one with the 3 different meats, it was like they couldn't spare a piece of ham, it was 2 little pieces, and I'm sure the bacon is that already cooked bacon in a box. I'll drive all the way to the Detroit/Mack location from now on. I was hopeful I had a location close that we could go to, but never again. I hate when good restaurants go cheap and bad! Heard a lot of good things about Louies on Yelp, and had a training class that ended around lunch. Headed down Hoover and hung a right on 9 Mile, and there it was- Louie's! Scanned the menu and there were a lot of tasty things, so I looked for something that would slake my pork craving- The Piggy sandwich stood out. Sliced ham, bacon, & corned beef on your choice of bread. Got it and an order of chili fries to go. Got back to the office and opened up the sandwich. Very generous portions of meats and very tasty! I could not finish it all in one sitting, so I took the rest home for leftovers. Resonable, ample portions, and delicious! A great Breakfast place, a great Lunch place! I lived by this place and every time I wanted to go in it wasn't open because I tend to eat later in the day. So I got up early one morning and stopped in for breakfast. I had the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs and it was as good as it gets. Now mind you, I love Corned Beef Hash, even the stuff in the can, so I may be a bit biased here! Staff was wonderful and the Coffee was perfect. Surroundings are clean and well kept. The crazy corned beef craving struck again! Corned beef has been one of my most common cravings since soon after I discovered I was pregnant. As I enter the third trimester, it shows no signs of slowing. Anywho, I headed here because it was 4:45pm when the craving set in and my favorite local place was already closed for the day. The food was ready quickly and I have no comment on service, as this was a carry out. I ordered my usual, corned beef on an onion roll with Swiss, coleslaw and thousand island. The sandwich was just okay. The interior of the bread was not toasted, the beef was fatty and the flavor was mediocre. The coleslaw was a little soggy for my taste. I prefer it to be crisp. The thousand island was good, as was the pickle. Overall, the sandwich was pretty basic and I wouldn't return. read more

After my second carry-out meal from here, I decided to write a review. My first meal was a grilled chicken greek salad and it was huge with plenty of grilled chicken on top. Greens, tomatoes, beets etc, all were fresh. There was enough salad left over for a second meal. My second carry-out was the Corned Beef on Rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing. I ordered this deluxe which means it comes with fries and my choice of soup or salad. I chose the chicken lemon rice soup. After eating the soup and half the fries, I almost was too full at that point to start on the sandwich. I then unwrapped the sandwich and immediately determined I was only going to be able to eat one half of the sandwich. The sandwich was huge piled high with corned beef and it tasted really good. The only thing to improve on this sandwich would be to make the bread toasted and somehow make the sandwich a little more flavorful and that maybe could be simply just by adding a little salt or spices. I'll have to ask the chef about that. All in all, worth the money and I will be back for more and so should you. read more

They pride themselves on their sandwiches, which are usually pretty good. Their salads is what I usually order. They certainly don't skimp on toppings and all the ingredients are fresh. The Greek Salad with chicken is my go-to. If I am in the mood for a sandwich, I go with the turkey rueben. it's made with big thick slices of rye bread and fresh roasted turkey breast. Every time I come in to Louie's, I am greeted with smiling faces and great service. The food is exceptional for the usual diner fare, and the cheeseburger and gyro pita are my go-to faves. Always loved going to Louie's for breakfast. Very good food and competitive prices. Went today and what a surprise. A new menu, hours and prices. The breakfast special is $7.00. Way too much for eggs, meat, potatoes and toast. You can go to the Sunrise Coney Island just down the streetand have a comparably breakfast for $4.00. I understand wanting to shorten Louie's hours but don't expect the customers to pay more. I predict the loss of many customers. read more
