So I made an appointment at Hair We Are, liking the name and having seen it many times on my way to the Price Chopper down the road. Diana did my hair and I'm still kind of astonished by how well she matched the color, seemingly without really even looking at it first. It looks fabulous, all glossy and golden and natural, and the trim she gave me was subtle but nicely layered and sufficiently sophisticated. Heidi did my eyebrows and also did a great job, and I'm thrilled to say that she never double-dipped the wax (as is lamentably common in even upscale NYC salons, gross and potentially dangerous as that is). The prices at this place are very reasonable, almost scarily so, and I suspect that I'll be going back a lot. It's not a fancy salon at all--it has a very down-home feel to it and the furnishings are a little worn. But the space is cute and there are tons of magazines to read and complimentary drinks while you wait. The service is really friendly and pretty fast, the prices are amazing, and the results speak for themselves. What a great find.

I got my lashes done by Therese who made me feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident with her amazing work. The owner is also very sweet and welcoming. I couldn't be happier and already can't wait to return for my next fill. The place is also beautiful, cozy, and makes me feel like I'm at a little getaway!

I went in for a trim. Lucy cut FOUR inches without my consent. She also cut my hair with a huge…read moreponytail bump in it, so the cut is clearly and visibly uneven, and now I have to have it fixed elsewhere. I feel completely violated. ***Do not start cutting a person's hair without getting permission as to the length you plan to remove.*** We were still discussing the length she was going to cut, and all of a sudden I heard the scissors snip. Lucy, this was an absolutely unacceptable violation. Four inches gone. I'm devastated. She also accused me of "telling her how to do her job" simply because I said I'd like some point cutting. She asked what I wanted, then acted insulted when I described the haircut I came in for. The worst salon experience of my life, and I haven't even addressed all of the issues. Stay far away from Lucy.

The woman cutting my hair was nice enough but she seemed very unsure of everything she did. It took her forever to dry my hair yet the blow dryer was so hot that it was burning my scalp and face as she tried to dry it......and I don't have thick hair....as she washed my hair, water got all over my face as she was spraying and she didn't have a towel around my neck while washing, so my dress got wet. I know these seem like small things but sometimes it's the small things that make a huge difference. If I'm going for just a simple cut no problem! But if it's anything more like a color or an extreme change I would recommend going somewhere else......
