Waited an extended period to be seated while the staff just looked on. No "just a moment please" or anything of the sort. Just looking on like they couldn't care less. Served white rice that was off color (not uniformly white), dry, odd smell and odd taste. Obviously old. Rice is a basic tenet of a Chinese restaurant so that's really all you need to know about the food. Will not repeat my mistake twice. read more

We just moved up here from the valley. The outside was so appealing to the eye. My daughters and I were excited to try this place out. However, we were disappointed. I was staying in Pinetop for a little less than a week for work. After looking at close by dinner options, I opted for Lotus Garden. I ordered the cashew chicken with rice and an order of dumplings. I'm not sure what kind of combo I accidentally ordered, but holy cow did I receive so much food! Thankfully my hotel had a fridge and microwave because this was multiple meals for me. The cashew chicken had a great flavor and was full of cashew nuts and tender chunks of chicken. The side of rice was standard, plain but fine once the chicken and sauce was mixed in. The dumplings were moist and flavorful with tender pork inside. The wrappers were a little thicker than I prefer but it was fine. I did also get soup (unexpectedly) but it was egg drop which I don't like so I didn't try it. The crunchy fried wonton strips were great though! There aren't a ton of options in Pinetop and this place does a big takeout business. My food took about 15 minutes but that shows me it was made fresh and was piping hot when I got it back to my room. I'll definitely stop back again when in the area. read more

This was our second time having lotus garden - and our first time eating at the restaurant. First off, the food portions are large - including the sushi portions. We were impressed with the burrito sized sushi. The General Tao's is so flavorful and has a bit of heat to it - everyone in our large family devoured this dish along with the chicks fried rice and chicken lo mein. Service was good - nothing to write home about - but good. Our first time having lotus garden it was delivered to our home in Pinetop. Let me tell you, it's just as good delivered as it is in the restaurant. We had the orange chicken and general tso's as well as lo mein and white rice. Again, it was a family crowd pleaser. It's close to the country clubs, and easy to get to. I saw they have a lunch buffet - might have to pop in and check that out to try more things! read more

This was our 6th visit and by far the worst! Egg rolls, shrimp and wonton appetizer were all over deep fried. The soup was a bowl of salt and the beef broccoli black mushroom dish was not good at all. We asked for the chocolate ice cream be packed to go but they said "it wasn't allowed". What?? Having checked out the other Chinese restaurants in town, I can confidently say that Lotus Garden is one of, if not the, most authentic Chinese restaurant in Show Low. However, it's too bad that you could easily miss this, as it advertises a very Americanized lunch buffet, and by the very fact that the buffet table is the first thing you smell and see when you walk in, you would assume that's the whole menu, the only thing they sell, but it's quite the contrary. When we first visited, we walked in, saw the buffet bar and decided to leave, but I also took a menu with me. We returned because I had noticed that the menu is huge, and includes lunch combos, separate from the buffet. Dishes such as lemon scallops, shrimp in lobster sauce, sauteed lobster, sizzling rice soup, etc.. these are not your typical Panda Express orange chicken or broccoli beef 2-item combo entrees, these are dishes you won't find in most Chinese restaurants because they are specialties that require culinary knowledge and skill with Chinese cuisine. We ordered the sweet & sour fish and the tofu in brown sauce and were pleasantly surprised. Not only are the portions big, but the taste was excellent, and the price was good. It's not only less expensive than some nearby Asian cuisine, it tastes far better. The lunch combos include soup, egg roll, won ton and you can get hot tea as well. The large fish tank was a nice touch, you can get seated right next to it for the full experience. There is also large group seating in another room, which could host a party or other event. Other seating around the restaurant is also good, but I would avoid getting too close to the buffet as you may not want the smell of it nearby. I assume several of the lower ratings for this place are either due to a specific incident that may have affected multiple patrons on one day, or are complaints about the buffet only, which I couldn't comment on. The only other thing I can mention is the good service from the servers. The waitress who serviced our table was fantastic, always helpful with suggestions and came by often to check on us. You also get a greater sense that this is a family-owned local restaurant (which we found out later is the case, the owner was in when we arrived and we got a chance to chat, which was very enjoyable) than a chain or corporate-owned place, which we felt at other restaurants in the area. I enjoyed our first visit so much, that I returned the very next day for lunch again. read more

We left after 30 minutes while the family that came after us got to enjoy their drinks and food, which was served immediately and while we still waited for our appetizer and order to be taken. The owner wanted to give us a free meal but it was already awkward enough we declined and left. It was disappointing and felt disrespected and discriminated against. We should have just left when the owner didn't acknowledge us first when we were clearly first in line to be seated. read more

My hubby and I were in Pinetop for a getaway to enjoy nature and didn't want to cook, so we did take out and the service was awesome and they even put some extras that we didn't order but the food was awful. We ordered the kung po beef, lemon chicken and house lomen and all had an awful taste and surprisingly the best part was the spring rolls that we didn't even order. The war wonton soup is very delicious. Flavorful and not over cooked. A go to favorite! Everything is exceptional. Not always the case up here on the Mountain. Nothing was over or under cooked. All perfect. If your lucky you can catch the Sake sale $3.75 for a large, $2.75 for small. I found the staff to be very friendly, present, and knowledgeable about their menu. I ordered takeout from this restaurant and when I received it, it was genuinely inedible, the chicken was tough and somehow had less flavor than a piece of frozen chicken. It's the only time I've eaten here and definitely will not be eating here again. Very disappointed especially for a 15 dollar dish. Also the picture online compared to what I got is wild. One star overall, but they earned a second star because they give kids free ice cream after dinner. The food here is just bad. Thick, gelatinous soups, weird textures in the meat (like perhaps they're using a lot of MSG), and no one in our party finished their meal. It has some big fish tanks filled with coy and some other fish, which the kids enjoyed looking at. Other than that, kind of a stereotypical Chinese restaurant vibe. Our server Richard was great, felt bad he seemed like the only server and was running the whole place. He was nice, helpful and joked around with us. The hot and sour soup was average nothing exciting, it was just soup. The spring roll was bland, no dipping sauce. The cheese wonton was crispy but very tangy. I hope that doesn't mean it was spoiled. The mongolian beef was not the best and not the worst it was very middle of the road. I was enjoying the entree until I came across a few bites that were extremely cold, they were not even slightly warm. The rice must have been heated in the microwave, there were pockets that were hot abd spots that were cold!!! Come on temp check your food! My husband had the lemon chicken it was one step above the worst lemon chicken we gave ever had. His was not served with rice so he just had a plate of chicken in a soupy sauce. Small seafood hot & sour soup, California roll, eel roll, shrimp tempura roll, an nigiri yellow tail, ebi, maguro tuna and eel hand roll The seafood hot & sour soup came out first. This is a big bowl for the "small". Very good lots of seafood. Perfect amount of green onion. Hope I can finish my sushi!! A large bowl of this soup would have been a GREAT meal! Seriously tempted to give 5 stars just for the soup! Sushi looks great! This is robust, fresh sushi. No skimping on the rice. The Magyar as large as was the yellow tail. Ebi shrimp and shrimp tempura roll were large fresh flavorful pieces. I could not finish it all and had to take 1/2 of the elk, tempura and California rolls and the hand rolls to go. I would not send my worst enemy here! Gnats in my food. Dry sushi. They put a random piece of salmon on top of one piece and I'm allergic!? I would've ordered a roll with it if I could eat it. ‍ flies everywhere we were literally swatted them away while trying to push down the food, which we didn't even come close to finishing. My mom and husband had the combo special where you pick two dishes and it was extremely overpriced for what they got not to mention it tasted like garbage. I ordered a hot sake and I watched the waitress put it in the microwave and let it sit there for 10 mins before she brought it over and by then it was cold. For 15 years I have enjoyed dinners and buffets at the LOTUS GARDEN which is the best CHINESE FOOD for 200 miles around. Always the multiple varieties of my meals have been delicious. The prices are very fair with portions generous. Dinners there are truly happy times. read more

Very authentic. The servers, although obviously understaffed, were doing their absolute best to always have a smile on their faces and move as fast as they could. Server was friendly but a little too talkative, food was not very good, lo mein was gummy, orange chicken was overcooked and chewy, food comes in huge pieces but there are no knives. Asked for the Wyndham discount but did not get it, even though they are a preferred restaurant on the list given to us at check-in. Place is run down, needs maintenance.
