Republic Texas Tavern - Republic Candied Deviled Eggs were delicious!

Menu has changed since the last time I visited Republic, but the service is still excellent. Karen…read morewas a great waitress and very patient with us throughout the evening. So disappointed they dropped the fried green tomatoes from the menu. Prices are reasonable, especially for spirits and beer. We started with the chicken fried quail tenders, which had a fantastic dipping sauce with them. For entrées, we had the New York strip chicken fried steak and the steak frites. I wasn't crazy about the chicken fried steak as it was a ton of batter and a very thin, thin piece of steak inside. I don't think I would order it again. The mashed potatoes and green beans and jalapeño gravy were very good though. My friend enjoyed the steak frites.

We ordered deviled eggs and pork belly lollipop. Our server said to add pork belly on top of the egg and wow was she right, it was so delicious. I'm not typically a fan of pork belly, but the pork belly lollipop was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I ordered the roasted chicken dish which came with mashed potatoes and green beans which were all delicious. I'm not usually a leftovers kind of gal, but I brought home my chicken dish leftovers and ate it for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back here and soon (especially for those deviled eggs).

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, so I finally decided to celebrate my birthday…read morehere and I'm so glad I did! At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I had high hopes for this location because I absolutely love Radici, and everyone has been…read morerecommending Roots to me. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to the expectations I had. I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

I can't say that there was a single thing that wasn't just superb. The best appetizer to me was the bruschetta. Super juicy and sweet. We had the bolognese, chicken sausage pasta and the Cacio y Pepe. I will say the Cat and Pepe was a little bit boring compared to the other two dishes. They were both spectacular. It was still good though, but you get such a unique flavor from the other others. The desert you can't go wrong with either. The strawberry tiramisu was perfect for summer but that olive oil cake thing was heaven as well. It all seriously was so fresh and good. We look forward to coming back and trying other things. Including coming for a traditional dinner. The staff was phenomenal, and the food was top-notch.

Eating off the bone was easy too Strawberry tiramisu - I was skeptical at first but I had a piece of strawberry from a drink and it's in season . Tiramisu felt more like a cake but it was fantastic. The crispiness was like it came from a baklava, the strawberry layers and macerated(?) ones inside were delicious. I devoured the whole thing Special limoncello drink - it was okay, I didn't finish it (different than the usual one) Fried green caprese - had this as an appetizer and the mozzarella and buttermilk vin carrier a lot here. Pretty solid and deep fried green tomato was great Dessert cocktail - pistachio creamy drink. They were missing an ingredient so I got a new one whipped up and it slaps. Drank the whole thing Clean and nice vibes - the windowsill was handy for storage if your table didn't have a hook. If you want a good farm to table spot with creative, seasonal menu options and rotating drinks, come here. I'll be back
