This week I book a private tour to the Highlands, Loch Ness, Fort William to show my sister how beautiful Scotland is. Our driver/guide Arina picked us up from the hotel in Edinburgh and for the next 12 hours kept us entertained with historical facts, beautiful sceneries, nice music. Then a couple of days later, we took another tour and this time Mike was our guide. We visited the Dunfermline Abbey, Sterling Castle and Rosslyn Chapel. Also this one was an incredible tour full of stories, information and history. I can't wait to be back in Scotland to see more and book another tour with Highland Experience.

Our driver and guide was Phil. He was an outstanding orator, DJ, historian, comedian and local knowledge (food, drink, toilets, whisky ice cream) connoisseur. He told us a story and usually had some music to accommodate the legend. The long day really flies by traveling from sight to sight. Plenty of bathroom breaks, places to eat and drink and stretch your legs. We did take (at an extra cost of about $22L pp) the Loch Ness Boat Tour. (@ 1 hr). The large windows allow for remarkable, unforgettable views. Enjoy!

Our guide, Rory, is a local and has a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh, so you're getting a perfect mix of academic depth and genuine, lived-in perspective. Over about 2.5 hours, he brought the Old Town to life through its architecture, layers of religious history, and the cultural shifts that shaped what Edinburgh is today. We also walked along the charming Victoria street which was rumored to be the inspiration for Harry Potter's Diagon Alley. Rory was incredibly knowledgeable and kept the whole group engaged the entire time. If you're visiting Edinburgh and love history, culture, and architecture, this tour is 100% worth your time.

Jen Cresswell, our tour guide, was engaging, knowledgeable, and her enthusiasm was contagious! There was a good combination of Edinburgh history and Harry Potter/JK Rowling facts. Also, in comparison to other tours, this tour didn't include as much walking. If you have time to kill in Edinburgh, I highly suggest it!
