Had a great stay at Lost Parrot Cabins! Got to swim, relax, have a cigar and see the awesome hills and Lake Travis

What a wonderfully unique and relaxing get-a-way! Clean & comfortable. The live music by the pool was perfect entertainment for a Friday evening. We'll be back!

Wow! What a beautiful place to stay! I cannot express how relaxing this place is! To lay on the hammock on our private porch was something I dream of when I think of relaxing! Catherine was so sweet and helpful and was very accommodating! The pool and hot tub were perfect! Thank you for a great time! We will see you again!

Stayed at the 3 BR/8 guest house on Aug. 10-13th. I had an issue on the initial booking identity…read moreverification where there was an error on the verification questions. This caused my booking to be cancelled and I had to rebook and reverify. VERY inconvenient but everything got worked out. When you pay $900+ per night you don't want to be inconvenienced while trying to book. The Reserve is a nice community, but like all managed "premier planned" suburban areas they are very Nazi-ish with rules and enforcement. Again, when you're paying over $900 per night it's very off-putting and insulting to constantly be reminded of the rules. They treat you like you're a college kid trying to sneak and throw a frat party while you're parents are away for the weekend. Our rental even had cameras on the house that were actively being monitored (details below). VALUE: I don't normally complain about price so I won't do it here. Let's just say that this place is expensive. I voluntarily paid the money but it's a high price. HOUSE: Nice place, very clean. Premium decor - Texas modern rustic. Complimentary prosecco in the fridge upon arrival was a nice touch. Bring your own food/drinks/condiments (salt, pepper, etc.)/ice. All utensils for just about any kind of cooking and everything needed to have nice dinner parties were there. We had an issue with POOL: I did a cabana rental for 2 days at $50 per day. Rentals include a complimentary pitcher of beer or margarita per day. Pool was nice and in good shape. Lazy river, kids pool and infinity pool as well as swim up bar and snack bar are all part of the pool. You aren't allowed to bring any alcoholic beverages, food, or coolers into the pool area. They did allow us to bring an individual cup or water bottle. They will search your bags for food/alchohol/etc. if you bring large bags. LOCATION: Be prepared to drive 40 minutes to anywhere. There's enough restaurants, entertainment, etc. 45 minutes away. All-in-all this was a good place to stay. The main reason this is not a 5-Star review is because I was contacted by TurnKey with a threatening call because the management/owner were watching us on the Arlo/Netgear camera (Nazi-ish) on the back patio (there's a camera on the front porch and back patio) and thought that one of my guests was on the back patio smoking. None of us are smokers and it was insulting for them to accuse us of smoking (I'll say it again for emphasis... when you're paying over $900 per night).

My cousin and his family have a membership here and they invited us to come out for the day. When you are driving out there it feels like it is kind of in the middle of nowhere and then all of a sudden this paradise appears. We spent time at the marina. This was the nicest marina I have seen in the Austin area for sure! I could tell everything is taken care of with the utmost care possible. The marina is treated somehow as well so that the cobwebs and spiders don't take over your boat and slip area, which is super nice and convenient. There is also room for outdoor kitchens and patio furniture at the front of each slip. People have grills and stuff out there too. I gathered that it is a thing to just hang out at your slip area and cook out with your friends and family and you may or may not even take the boat out. After we took the boat out and came back in we road the golf cart up to the lazy river. This is where it really started to feel like a resort for me. They have a decent sized lazy river that is so much fun! There is a swim up bar on one side and the bar opens to the deck area on the other side. There are plenty of tables to sit at and chase lounge chairs in the sun and shaded for total comfort and relaxing. I had a few perfectly made margaritas from the bar and had a wonderful time hanging out with my family and floating the lazy river! The Reserve property is actually pretty huge! They also have cabins you can rent out, tennis courts and a park area. There is lots of places to hike around as well. This would be the perfect family get away spot and it is not too far from other cool outdoor things like Krause Springs, Hamilton Pool Park and of course Lake Travis!

We were taken via golf cart to the venue. Needless to say, my hair was windblown when we arrived. We immediately greeted by a woman with a champagne skirt, which was unique and different. The space was very tight for the number of guests present. Folks passing by my table kept knocking purse off my chair until I put on our table. There was a small bar and mingling area. Gifts sat on the floor as there was no space anywhere else to put them. There were two musical artists - a DJ and a jazz band. The DJ was not skilled in the art of DJing. He did not have seamless connections between songs with abrupt stops. The jazz band, conversely, was amazing. My hubby who is not a big dancer, danced the entire night. We were served plated meals (filet mignon and salmon), which were aesthetically pleasing and deliciously prepared. Overall, the food was very good. If the birthday party was held in a larger space, the experience would likely have been better.

It is tasteful and enjoyable. The location's accommodations with an in-suite formal dining room are pleasant. The property is well-placed and exudes a refined Hill Country character and is easily reachable from town. We did have a rocky start, however. There was a major booking error upon arrival - a one star situation. Thankfully, they did their very best to resolve the matter, immediately correct the issue, and send us on our anticipated way without major consequential delay. Turnaround included, it could be graded four stars, but staff competencies to correctly and completely maneuver from an outsized hiccup deserve stars representing a full recovery. All told everything fell in to place without need for noteworthy insistence on my part. Not everyone can resolve problems quickly and sufficiently. Unfortunately, that is rare. Barton Creek Resort and Spa has my endorsement.

First the location was ideal, right on South Congress and the best part is that the parking is free! I was a little concerned about noise coming from the clubs that are literally steps away, but it was not an issue the weekend I was there. Second, the property is more like an Airbnb in that there's no front desk. You get the access code via email prior to your arrival. However, that is not to say that there's no staff. I had some questions and was easily able to talk/text to someone immediately. We were in the Orange room which was comfortable and well-designed for two people. Plenty of storage space in the main room and in the bathroom. I always get nervous when I see the wall mounted AC unit, but this one worked great! Our room was nice and cold and the unit was very quiet. My only negative point of our entire stay is that the water pressure in the bathroom is a bit weak and the hot water from the sink tap takes a very long time to warm up. We enjoyed the common room with the Jura coffee maker. There is also filtered water and other beverages available at no charge. I'd like to add that the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. I look forward to staying here again soon!

We were able to choose from organic massage or an organic facial for our treatment, and both opted for facials. The good: - Stunning property - serene, peaceful, and beautiful. - Spa offers several wonderful amenities (sauna, steam room, hot tub, pools, showers, and more). We thoroughly enjoyed each of these features and spent 3-4 hours total just relaxing and enjoying our time. - I appreciated that they had interesting and unique touches such as the adult coloring books in the relaxation lounge. What could've been better: - The facial service was very basic and frankly mediocre. For the amount we paid, I expected more of a facial massage and extraction. This was disappointing. - We were to receive a complimentary glass of wine each with our booking. No one offered this to us; I had to hunt down a staff member and request it. - For a five star spa, they should offer more than one hair dryer for all guests to use, and better beverage options in the relaxation room. We had one tea choice, that was it. Good experience but with some improvements could be great.

From the beginning, the team was very responsive to questions and open to feedback, which made the planning process feel much easier. On the wedding day, everything ran smoothly, and they helped create a fun, seamless atmosphere so we could actually enjoy the day. One of the highlights for us was being able to use a more unconventional ceremony site on the property; they were very accommodating and made it come together exactly how we envisioned. Our guests also had a great time with the amenities, cocktail hour space, and reception space. The food was fantastic, and the bar service was equally impressive. We also appreciated that we could customize our experience without feeling overwhelmed by too many decisions. We also loved the staff of the hotel. They were so helpful, even with small things like moving our wedding decor around. The amenities are really awesome too, our guests loved it and want to come back in the future. There is truly something for any type of person here. It is on the pricier side, but for us, it was absolutely worth it. We would definitely recommend this venue.

An unforgettable experience, but definitely room for improvement given the price tag…read more Miraval austin is one of those aspirational properties that everyone looks forward to. As one of Hyatts flagship properties you would only expect the best there. Wish I could say I got the best, but it was mostly good. The problem is with the activity bookings. Every individual person has to book their own activities and there's no description vs. The detailed calendar on Miraval. Also, the site defaults to the first day after every activity booking. And lastly, most of the activities are taken that a person would be interested in. I got a few calls from an experience coordinator to help but they're always during working hours where someone is... most likely working and they aren't available after hours. For a property north of 1.5k a night, not being able to accommodate guest requests for a core concept is not acceptable. Other than that, everything was mostly fine. The property itself is not far from Austin but definitely feels isolated. Check-in process was mostly seamless, no upgrade given Globalist which is a bummer or even mention of looking for one. Check in later in the day around 6PM and there's no tea at Check in (gone for the day!?). However, the quick property tour and lift to dinner was nice. Food was definitely close to 4 to 5 stars. Order as much as you want. The bread was amazing. View even more so if you sit outside. A lot of things are grown from their local farm, definitely have a balance of vegetables and proteins. Everything was delicious and fresh, had amazing wild boar chops the first night and got a full 2nd order. Also got a great whitefish. Menu changes every night up to 4 nights, so the pork belly, duck confit, and shrimp and grits were highlights. Breakfast had amazing yogurt and fruits. Lunch was meh, burger was lacking, but the steak tacos were great. The room itself is not full luxury but very comfortable. Water filter, the largest selection of tea and cold coffee, water heater. Perfect to sit while being on the balcony. The bathroom is also decent size with great water pressure. Bath products fairly luxurious. The activities were decent, good instructors and energy. Most of them are intimate enough. Wish they were a bit more active to burn off the calories from the food.

I started my trip off by spending a few days in Austin staying near South Congress (highly recommend). Then wrapped up my trip with a three night stay at Miraval. Best time to book is during cyber Monday. They have been having a $300 night credit for spa/activities. That was a perfect amount to try different things during my stay. The rooms were very nice. The bed was honestly too soft for me. Yes it feels heavenly but I need a firm mattress for a good nights sleep. I really liked riding a horse while I was there. I was nervous about it but it was in a nice controlled environment with one other person. I felt very safe. The instructor was awesome! The food was great! I love the focus on being present and not using a digital device. I didn't use my phone or watch TV my entire stay. When I left I felt so at peace! The pool areas are beautiful! I enjoyed both guided hikes and would recommend. I also liked the educational nutrition classes and fitness classes. My favorite classes were line dancing and Tex Mex yoga. They should offer that more than just once during the week! Next time I come I would like to do the labyrinth, floating meditation, a cooking class, and kayaking.

The resort is now owned by a REIT (real estate investment trust), which typically focuses on maximizing profits by cutting costs--and unfortunately, the effects are noticeable. What We Enjoyed: - The staff and instructors were wonderful, and the classes remain a highlight of the stay. Where It Fell Short: - The renovations have stripped much of the resort's former charm. The spaces now feel commercial and impersonal. - The dining room, once cozy, now resembles a nursing home cafeteria. - Beautiful, home-like furniture has been replaced with generic Westin-style pieces. - Harsh LED sconces and bright LED bulbs in the room diminished the tranquil atmosphere. We often had to keep the lights off to avoid being blinded. - Meals were acceptable in taste but frequently served lukewarm rather than hot, which was especially disappointing for soups. Overall, while the people and programming remain excellent, the atmosphere and attention to detail have been compromised under the new management. This resort used to feel like a home away from home, but now it feels like a commercial property prioritizing margins over guest experience and sub par value based on pricing.

Unfortunately our son had a stomach bug and ended up in the hospital. He is a type 1 diabetic and if his ketones are high we need to go to the hospital. We had to leave after our first day. We did end up getting a massage which was amazing, however the spa area was lacking. The sauna was cold and super dusty. It was just all around dusty everywhere. I felt so stuffy anytime I walked around the resort. The food was ok but not adequate for the price. So all around sad trip. I don't recommend going there because even though we had to leave for a medical reason we weren't given a partial refund and the manager isn't very understanding. So there goes $5,000!
