This guesthouse is nice place to stay if you like the friendly, welcoming environment of a hostel, but want the privacy and comfort of your own room. I read a ton of reviews from different sites before deciding to stay here, and here are all the cons people seem to complain about:
1. Too many steps. Yes, you'll need to carry your luggage up several flights. No, there is no elevator. This describes most guesthouses in Lisbon. It wasn't a problem for me.
2. Too loud. The room walls are thin, and sound carries. The guests are mostly very considerate of each other, and although my room was right on the main road, the sound was muffled enough to be fine. It wasn't completely silent at night, but it didn't trouble my sleep.
3. No AC. Not an issue for me in October, but I could see it being more of a problem in summer when you'd want to open your window, which would let in the sound. Also, no screens on the windows.
4. Smelly bathrooms. This was the only complaint I read that actually bothered me. There is an odd odor, even though the bathrooms are immaculately cleaned. It was unpleasant, but not a deal breaker for me.
And everything else was great! Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable shared "living room" space, and a fabulous, central location. If be happy to stay here again. read more
