Conveniently located across Praça do Comércio in the Chiado district. This hotel deserves all the praises. Pros and cons with luxury hotels- there's no loud and gaudy signs to alert itself; just a small subtle golden sign outside. Hahaha! The hotel blends so well with the area around it that it was honestly hard to find the hotel. We went around the square like 3 times; even the locals and the workers working around the area weren't sure where it was despite showing them the address. Nonetheless, I truly appreciate it when designers respect the surrounding areas and try to maintain the original parts and history of the place; choosing to inconspicuously blend instead of obnoxiously standing out. Walking into this beautiful hotel is like walking into a museum. I love the old things they choose to display and showcase. I commend the designers who try to mantain the beauty of old buildings and incorporate to meld history instead of choosing to modernize things. Our stay here was literally and figuratively on a whole 'nother level. Our room was in one of their mezzanine rooms- so it felt like we were in like a mini townhouse since it was a 2 level room. One is greeted with a small foyer and then stairs that lead to the bathroom and then the topmost landing to the sleeping area. We loved how it felt like we weren't in a hotel. Upon the arrival to our bedroom, we were greeted with a nice amuse-bouche of Lisbon's quintessential dessert, pastel de nata and a souvenir of the iconic azulejos. The attention to detail is apparent in every corner. While the impeccable accommodations were stellar, there was some thing that made our stay inhospitable. Unfortunately, the people in the front desk left quite an unpalatable impression on us. Most would consider it wise to put a friendlier face at the front end of such an establishment. A welcoming face and an affable and understanding demeanor to weary and confused travelers would be a wonderful warm welcome!! However, this was not the case. The front desk people need some refresher course on their pleasantries and welcoming skills. Good thing this was not the first hotel we stayed upon arriving to the country!! We immediately wished that we had gone back to The Lumiares Hotel & Spa in Barrio Alto. Despite that place being busy and at the center of Barrio Alto, the staff there truly were hospitable and engaging; night and day difference compared to this one. I understand that the hotel could be busy but there's a difference with attentive staff on busy hours and just plain aloof. There were 2 gentleman and a lady who were in their desks. I observed all 3 of them sitting coldly in there while they were ent about their routine. There was another elderly couple standing with us when we were waiting for our turn to get checked in, and the guy on the other desk just sat there while his other colleagues were going about their work. Let's give him the benefit of a doubt... He could be busy or maybe not able to check any of us in, but one could argue that it's still not hard to provide some friendly support or maybe asked the other guests if there was anything that he could help with while we stand there. I mean offer the poor lady with a cane a chair perhaps while her poor husband was trying to coral their luggage's, the guy could've called a bellhop to help them. Regardless, the lady who checked us in was business as usual; all cold and quite unwelcoming that she couldn't even be bothered to try and work up a mere smile so she could appear acutely affable. After all, you are in the hospitality business and the face of the establishment being situated in the front. Thankfully, interacting with the front desk was a short one. Despite all that, I hate to highlight that debacle because the rest of the staff were wonderful! They were welcoming and friendly. Whenever we had our breakfasts, we were always pleasantly greeted. The servers and the kitchen staff were attentive. Despite being busy, they took their time to answer and explain some of our questions and sincerely asked us about our stay. Our server was delightful & genuinely curious about our trip and was kind to give us ideas and suggestions. We heard her have the same pleasant interactions with the other guests and impressively in other languages. Overall, besides our front desk fiasco, we still enjoyed our stay here. Fortunately, our interactions with the rest of the staff thankfully overshadowed the unpalatable experience we had with the front. We booked this wonderful hotel for a 4-night stay and loved its perfectly central location within Commercial Plaza in Baixa, across the Tagus River and a short walk to Chiado, Alfama, Pink Street, etc. A short walk takes you to Rua Augusta, a gorgeous pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants. The hotel serves a great daily breakfast with plenty of buffet options and made-to-order items. Plus, late-night owls will appreciate the drinks, coffee, and teas available. Highly recommend for a convenient and comfortable stay in Lisbon. read more

Stayed here 1 night end of April 2023, after checking out our 3 night stay at Hyatt Regency Lisbon. ** Pro Tip: Look for Rib Beef and Wine Restaurant as they are in the same building! The location is very central but the hotel was kinda hidden in a way because the hotel signage was quite small. We walked by many times but still confused with Google Map :) Since it was in the heart of Lisbon, the price was quite high. It was close to 400eu Sunday night and IMO on the pricey side for the size of the room given. There were some nice touches that we loved about this hotel. A little spoiler in the photos. We had a wonderful time at Pousada de Lisboa, Praça do Comércio! The location is right across from a beautiful square, and the water. I feel like it's central to everything: shopping, eating, and you can Uber or taxi anywhere in the city. It was incredibly clean, I felt like the rooms are large, especially by European standards. And the service was on point from check-in all the way through to our check out. They have a great restaurant for steak onsite. I'd stay here again if I come back to Lisbon. read more

Wow, wow, wow.. I don't know where to begin. We are on our third day here at Pousada de Lisboa, which we booked through our travel agent at Spain Top. From the moment we entered our hotel we have been blown away by the impeccable service, central location, and wonderful amenities. We arrived early around 1pm and both of our rooms were ready. The receptionist staff was OUTSTANDING: They greeted us as if they'd been expecting us and made check-in an absolute breeze. They helped us plan out our day, which turned out to be fabulous. Both receptionists were beyond kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Breakfast was delicious and in such a lovely setting. This afternoon we came back to the hotel for a rest and enjoyed delicious, complimentary tea service. After a siesta, I realized I had lost my sunglasses. I went downstairs to ask the receptionist and low and behold they had my sunglasses which housekeeping had found in the hallway and graciously returned. Also when I went to acquire an additional key, the receptionist didn't need my room number or name because he already knew them.. This is the definition of a FIVE STAR hotel. I'm extremely selective and let me just say that this hotel has surpassed my expectations. If we return to Lisbon this is where we'll be staying!! And by the way, the location cannot be beat! I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It is phenomenal. From the decor, to the food, to the wonderful service this place is a winner. The concierge and team were helpful for all things associated with my trip to Lisbon prior to my arrival. The corresponded politely and quickly via email for every need. Without skipping a beat I received a free upgrade, taxi service, recommendations and reservations for dining, stellar breakfast, and even a lovely to go bespoke breakfast package before my early flight. Even sweeter, I had a surprise pastry tray in my room waiting after a day of exploring due to a longer check in process. Every member of the staff is eager to please and so proud to do what they do. Overall, the beds sleep well. The facilities are all top notch and there isn't a shortage of places to sit, or experiences to have within the hotel or by the arrangement of one of their lovely team members. I found the closet space to be adequate along with plenty of outlets in the room with excellent flat screen and Bluetooth speakers. The hotels location is very centralized so we were able to walk to hot spots such as the Time Out Market, Manteigaria, Chicago, the Pink Street, Barrio Alto, and Alfama. You can also get the iconic trolley photo right outside the hotel and take phenomenal pictures from the square. I will definitely book with them again when I return to Lisbon to explore more of the town and travel the north of Portugal. Thank you for making my stay so flawless. We recently stayed at Pousada de Lisboa for two nights. The location is perfect - it was an easy drive from the airport and is close to public transportation and many sights. Our car was handled promptly when we arrived (€28/day for parking with in/out availability). Check in was easy and pleasant. I has previously asked for a room with a view and we were given a first floor room facing the square with a partial water view. The room was very spacious and had more than enough storage space. The bed was fairly comfortable (a little hard). The bathroom was also spacious and the shower had good water pressure and hot water. The front desk staff were very nice and always ready to answer our questions. Wifi was perfect. We never made it to breakfast or the spa, so I can't comment on those. I would, however, recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Lisbon. read more

Our family of ten had a wonderful stay at this 5 star luxury pousada, located in the heart of Lisbon with easy access to all the main sites and the ability to walk out the front door and take lovely strolls on the riverfront or cobbled streets. Newly renovated and tastefully decorated, the rooms are luxurious with king sized beds and comfortable pillows and linens. The gym/pool/sauna was a lovely way to start and end long days of running around a city with so much to do. Highly recommend the breakfast buffet with a broad selection of hot and cold items and fresh fruit and juices. We loved this hotel for so many reasons - but the number one reason was the staff. Before, during, and after our stay the excellent staff helped us plan our trip, organized an excellent guide (Cidalia) and driver, booked restaurants for our large group, took care of every need, request, and (a week after we left the hotel), helped us research how to have a painting in Coimbra crated and shipped to the US. Corneliu, Vanessa, Patricia, Bernardo, Joao, and all the others at Reception and throughout the hotel - thank you for a magical trip that every member of the Esteves family deeply appreciated and will always remember. We booked the Pousada for all the 5 star attributes it has to offer - but it was the the staff that stole our hearts left feeling like well cared for family. We didn't want to leave the Pousada and we can't wait to return. read more
