I stopped by the Lost Kangaroo Pub and grabbed a lime carbless seltzer honestly tastes like Sprite, so yes, very happy. I didn't get any food and I'm not sure if they even have it. Service was super friendly and quick, Rico at the bar, hope I spelled that right, hooked us up right away. It probably helped by the fact that it was daytime so not at all crowded. Dive bar vibes for sure, but it's bigger than I would expect for a dive. Tons of games like pool, darts, pinball, and even a beer pong machine for two players, never seen that before, but surprisingly fun. Machines were about a dollar a game, so nothing crazy. Street parking was free for a couple hours where I was and there's indoor and outdoor seating. Women's bathroom had some hilarious messages and divorce dad music playing constantly. I liked it, my mom, not so much. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area and want a to just chill and drink. read more

Good beer selection and ambiance, but the best part is the people. Patrons and bartenders ribbing each other in good fun. Austin was a stellar beer- and care-giver. I was visiting from Philly and came in with my octogenarian parents. We had intended to go to Pour Decisions next door but wound up here to avoid the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa and actually enjoy our conversation. It was my father's 85th and he doesn't get out much, so it was an important albeit informal night. We ended up having such a good time that I forgot my credit card behind the counter, and only discovered this when I pulled out my ID for TSA. There's no way to call, unfortunately, so I stopped everything and emailed from the website. It was responded to by the time I got to my gate! Before my plane took off, Robert (the owner, I presume) had secured my address and told me he'd mail it. Lots of drama. They also lock the doors while you're inside so when you try to leave you can't. One of the little bar back employees got mouthy with us and almost seemed like he was trying to insinuate a fight. I am not from Bradenton, so I have yet to understand what townies here are like or the local dynamic. However, when I visited Lost Kangaroo it was my first time ever experiencing Old Main Street on a Friday night. It was encouraging to see that there are some young and well-dressed people in Bradenton. The street scene even reflected a less crowded Ybor. As soon as I walked inside the bar, I was hit with a ton of staring eyes. The sports playing on the wide screen TV's had me making a b-line for the outdoor tables. The music ranged from decent to terribly annoying. An interesting mix of customers; baby-boomers, locals my age (stuck in the 90's like me), and twenty-somethings that must be college students from Sarasota. If the weather did not permit me to sit outside, then I would have probably not stayed here as long. The Kangaroo has quite a large selection of beers on tap (39 types), as well as my beloved framoise on tap. The prices are average compared to other specialty beer bars in the area. They have food, really? I did not see any evidence of that. I would prefer to come back in the afternoon because things would be a bit more mellow then and there would be more parking. read more

I've been in here a couple times and the service has been "meh". Today I went in and was blatantly disregarded by the bartender. We literally made eye contact on several occasions with my empty (first drink of the day) sitting at the bar line. Females came up and we're able to hail the chubby little guy without any issues. The barback apologized and I went next door to the next bar (Corky's) which was more prompt service. Every time I come here someone is always trying to fight and the staff does nothing to Prevent altercations. I am a 23 year old girl and a man was harassing my friend and I, calling us names and everything under the sun. After telling him to leave us alone multiple times he finally left and started harassing my boyfriend and his friend. After telling him to leave us alone multiple times the guy pinned my bf against the wall. We all got kicked out and then the guy followed us to the car and was saying disgusting things to me and got in my face like he was going to assault me. A HOMELESS MAN and a woman from a different bar came to help us because the guy was preventing us from getting into the car. Then he tried fighting the other girl who came to help us. The staff who kicked us out left us on our own to keep getting harassed by this guy. Very thankful he didn't have a knife or gun because he was crazy. I'm a bartender and know when to stop serving people and when to break situations up. Anyways ladies don't come here unless your looking to get harassed by grown men and not have any help from staff. read more

If you love good beer, and by good beer I don't mean bud, mick or any of the national megolomart brands that are polluted with rice, then come to the lost kangaroo. There is nothing so nice as sitting at the tables out front of the pub, having a good flavorful beer, some peanuts and watching the shadows get long on old main street. I'm sad they no longer have london porter on tap, but there are plenty of tasty things here. Things from Rogue brewery, a good selection of English things as well as german, and of course Guinness. Now all they need is a bigger variety of dark beers and I'll give them that 5th star. read more

I've had bad service before and was pretty upset but everytime that I go to the Roo it is horrible! On a weekend or get down, down town good luck getting a beer! Stood around waiting 15-20 mins to get a drink. I couldn't tell how many bar tenders there were because there are a ton of bar backs who stand around doing nothing as well as the bar tenders. I asked a co worker why they don't have more bartenders on and I got the answer, " They don't have enough room behind the bar, they would be running into each other" . Really? That's a poor excuse. Ohh and they may have a lot of manly beers to choose from but there is no way in hell I'm Going back there. Hire women maybe people will actually get service! This is a great place, I can't tell you anything about what happens after 3pm because we always go in before then. I hardly do reviews, but decided to do one for this Pub. I was downtown with the kids at the splash pad and decided with my friend we would walk down to get a drink, we've been to the Roo a plethora of times without incident and have met many great friends over the years. We get to the Roo and order a round of Long Islands, this bartender had served us before and recognized us and cheerfully made our drinks for us. They were great as they usually are and we head back down to the splash pad. The kids werent tired out after another hour or so so we went back to grab another drink, this time there was a new bartender working. I ordered the drinks, we get them and pay for them. This time, the drinks are spiced in some way. My friend couldn't drink it because she doesn't like dark liquor at all, so we brought them back after taking two sips. He remade the drinks the exact same way. I was confused because I don't understand where he went wrong, a Long Island is a staple drink. It's literally the only drink I order when I go out unless I am drinking wine. He dumped the drinks and asked me to leave. Told me that if I didn't he would call the cops. I left, but he still kept my money and I never got my drink. I only had one previous to that with the other bartender. After I reviewed it on FB the bar responded back to me, calling me a liar and a drunk! We ended up going home and enjoyed drinks there. I was never rude nor loud with him, I am assuming he was new or had a bottle in the wrong spot on his rack and put the wrong liquor in. Either way, I won't be going back there and I won't be recommending this bar anytime soon. read more

Make sure u ask about the beer specials or u may end up paying a pretty hefty bar tab. I had a few of the ipas and microbrews on tap, and they were all delicious, however pretty expensive. I went to the bar during Get Down Downtown and did not have the best experience. I'm 21 years old and the crowd was definitely filled with cougars and creepy old men trying to hit on me. It was not my scene overall and the drinks were okay. Even the bartenders seemed to be a little unprofessional when it came to serving drinks. Just tried this place out for the time and it's one of the better bars I've been to. It's very spacious and for a bar where people can smoke inside it is very tolerable and you can barely smell it because the place is so open. I'm a beer guy and they have a great selection of craft brews. The bartenders are all friendly and they even offer suggestions for beers to try and they give you samples to try them before you buy. The other reviews pretty much sum up The Lost Kangaroo. This bar has a lot of beer diversity - over 180 beers either on tap or in a bottle. They also have a lot of great drinks and shots. My fave is the "Patriot Missile" which tastes good but the presentation is awesome - it is three-layered red, white and blue! I will say this, unless you say something, your drink will probably be strong. Some things that really set this place apart from other bars in the area is that it is bigger than all the other bars so there is plenty of room to relax. I can go out with a bunch of friends and we can all find space to sit down and hang out together. The other bars are too small to hang out with a lot of friends. They are also very dog-friendly. They leave out a water bowl and will give you treats for your pup if you ask. The bartenders are also really nice and have been there forever. Some are more chatty than others but they are always good about getting drinks fast. I also agree they are very knowledgeable about beer. They have one new guy who I have stumped a couple of times but he is probably the nicest one of them all. I will bounce around from bar to bar, when I am in downtown Bradenton, but I usually end up back at "The Roo" because the space and atmosphere are easy-going and friendly. read more

My girlfriend and I visited tonight and I wish I could give them 5 stars. The atmosphere and two of the bartenders were INCREDIBLE, but there was one that is a complete detriment to this place (I asked and I believe his name is Sean). We spent a good amount of the evening here, and all I saw was this bartender taking shots and walking back and forth, as the other staff members dealt with a full bar.
