A huge shoutout to Joe and Katie - they went above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable; they are rarities when it comes to service, compassion, and authenticity. We had a great time at Guppy's, the people are super friendly, the drinks and food were good and it's kinda an all around happy place -- at least it was when we were there. We had drinks, chicken tenders (homemade and very good) and my partner had chili which he liked (he's a tough judge on chili, so if he liked it, that means it's really 5 stars!). Where the old Mexican restaurant on LBK use to be- Guppy's is a sports bar with multiple TV's and a nice staff. We went on a Saturday around 4 and there were a few patrons congratulated around the bar so we bellied up too. Beers were cold, our server was friendly and the food was good. My wife had the grouper tacos(2 for 1 on Tuesdays). I had the Philly cheesesteak. I liked the imported roll the most and the sandwich was more filling than my eyes thought. Overall, we may come back on a weekday when there are specials. I was shocked Guppy's has been here 2 years- time flies when on island time. read more

We walked in a 4:00 on Wednesday and sat at a table, the bar was pretty full and there were a few people at tables. We sat there for 15 minutes and no one acknowledged us or approached us so we went next door and got yummy pizza. I guess they have too much business!!!! read more

We arrived after the Kentucky Derby and was greeted with enthusiasm by a staff that didn't care they had had a full day. They were excited we were there. Service and food were great. The restaurant is roomy with lots of televisions to watch. read more

Our friend Christine took me a Philly folk and my Baltimore partner here yesterday and it was a dream. Philadelphia Sports items hang around but not in such a way that locals would feel overwhelmed. What a great little spot. It's hidden in the back of a strip plaza making it hard to find. Basically you are unlike to find it driving by at least that was my case until someone from the group found it online so we went to check it out and the food was spot on. Went here to watch Superbowl. The owner kept turning the volume down on commercials. Kept asking to get the volume up. If you don't have a team to cheer on you at least want to hear the pregame and commercials. Guess he doesn't care what the customers want. MaryAnn, the bartender was excellent. We make sure to visit Guppy's every time we visit LBK. Super family friendly with great menu and delicious cocktails. Large wrap around bar with big screen tvs on every wall playing whatever game you want. My kids are 9 and 11 and request a stop here on our island visits. Great for carry out too! I went to Guppy's for lunch recently with a friend of mine who was visiting LBK. We were almost the only ones in the restaurant. Our server was very friendly at first. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich which comes with fries, but I asked to substitute a side salad for the fries. On the Sides menu the side salad price was $2 LESS than the fries price. Despite that, my server said there would be a $2.50 UPCHARGE if I wanted to substitute the salad. I mildly protested given that I was already paying $19 for a simple sandwich and if anything I should be charged LESS for a less expensive side item. My server turned quite curt and rude, and simply said it's $2.50 more, do you want the salad or not? I was quite taken aback by not only the unreasonableness of this ridiculous upcharge, but the attitude that my questioning it was met with. I told the server that I would take the salad, but that I would never come back to this restaurant again. The sandwich was good (not $19 good) but came out with nothing on it at all, I had to ask for lettuce, tomato and mayo. The salad was small & very average with what tasted like grocery store bottled dressing. A very poor bargain for $21.50. I will never return to this restaurant. And very poor set up for a sports bar - the tables only allow people on one side to see the TV screens. read more

Good food, service, reasonable prices & located mid-key so easy to get to & perfect way to avoid in-season traffic into downtown. Had the shrimp tacos with corn tortillas which for $18., were flavorful & filling. The jalapeño slaw added just the right amount of kick without being too hot. Our group visited Guppy's several times during the month of February. Each time we were acknowledged at our arrival thanks to Doug our extremely enjoyable bartender who provided great service with both drinks and food that was always delicious. We also met Alexa, a great, fun waitress and Robin the Owner who was always engaging and friendly. Guppy's is a great addition to Longboat Key. We look forward to returning. read more
