Lost Cowboy Taproom has opened inside of Buckley's Market & Cafe in Downtown Portsmouth. This BBQ themed restaurant and bar is owned and operated by the Michael Timothy's Dining Group. They also have the bigger Lost Cowboy Brewery in Nashua. The space has a full service bar with seating and 2 TVs, table seating, fireplace, deer heads and overhanging pendant lights. There is also outside patio seating too.
The food menu offers a variety of BBQ fare, sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, sides, steak frites, salmon (blackened or fried), cornbread crusted shrimp, and salads. The bar offers 10-12 rotating beers on tap (signature & regional beers), wine, liquor, cocktails, and tequila.
I stopped by Lost Cowboy Taproom in Portsmouth recently for lunch. I sat up at the bar and the bartender brought out a menu and offered water to start. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich ($19 plus tax) served with fries, which came out in about 10 minutes and a couple sauce bottles to try with the food were also brought out (Rib sauce and Carolina sauce). The thick brisket sandwich had tender soft pieces of brisket marinated in a smoky sweet sauce, topped with pickled red onions & gold sauce on a toasted brioche bun. The golden steak fries were seasoned and very hot, ketchup and thousand island sauce cups also provided. Those fries were identical to the fries served at Buckley's Burgers & Steaks.
After I finished my food, the bartender cleared my tray and I got the check which was $20.62 with tax and before tip. Overall, a better experience here than in Nashua where it was very noisy and the service there was not great. At this location, the place felt much more relaxed and the service was adequate. read more
