Yes it's predominantly a kids' summer camp but adults have very different needs food-wise. Pizza, chicken nuggets and having fried potatoes on repeat doesn't cut it. And the portions were absolutely abysmal. Yes you can go up for seconds, but the service could have been more at the get go. You're feeding folks that have been rappelling, rock climbing, paddling, hiking and fishing all day!! We needed something more nutritious and appropriate for adults!!

Theatrikos has continued to add to its entertainment repertoire with the addition of the Candle Light Concert company, the showing of Indie files and finally the showing of plays filmed in other locations and screened at the theater. Located near Payson, this camp is the perfect place to get away from the summer heat. My older children have attended several camps/programs at Camp Geronimo. They have enjoyed each visit. I am giving the camp 5 stars for the weather, as well as the views. Having picked them up from camps, I can attest to how beautiful the weather is during the summer. If attending BSA summer camp, there are a plethora of merit badge classes, adventures, day and night programs, swimming, boating, shooting sports, fishing and horses programs. Horse and fishing programs have extra fees. One of my kids loved the rock climbing wall. The summer camp programs are designed so that there is something for each Scout. There is a small shop. Shop is a mixture of Scout items, stickers, patches, snacks, and random goodies. This is also where leaders pick up advancement and awards earned at camp. Some of the facilities can use updating. Maybe it adds to the rustic charm. Geronimo is open to more than just Scouts BSA. Their 200 acres are available for rent by groups other than the Boy Scouts. Cabin and campsites are available. That is in addition to staff cabins. There is also a pool, amphitheater, creek, hiking trails, shower facilities, and health lodge. Reservations for outside groups may be made at: https://www.campgeronimo.org/reserve/ The ride up can be a bit tricky. If you have a truck or off-road vehicle, I highly recommend it. Upon leaving Payson, the road gets bumpy and steep. It can be a difficult drive in a small car.

They work diligently to improve every facet of care and upkeep at this wonderful facility. I have watched their riders and horses of all ages improve in every way consistently and with much success. By enforcing professionally recommended vaccination protocols I knew my mare would not be exposed to non-vaccinated horses. It doesn't make you popular but it certainly speaks to a professional, high standard of care.
