Amazing 5 mile out and back hike here. Elevation gain is about 1,100 feet in 2.5 miles, a few steep sections but nothing extreme. The views along the trail are spectacular. Be sure to sign in and out of the metal log book at the trail head. Access is from highway 64, at USFS fire road 191. Travel 2 miles to the trailhead and parking area. Parking is well designated with plenty of room. We traveled in a 4wd pickup, but access during dry weather is accessible by passenger car or high clearance SUV. This trail like most others in Arizona is dog friendly, with leashes and good trail manners. We hiked the first week of June and brought 6L/200 ounces of water for us and the pups. At this elevation you'll need it. The summit rewards you with 360 degree views of Snow Bowl, Mt. Kendrick, and the Grand Canyon in the far distance. Well worth the drive from Flagstaff and the view from the top!! read more
