The camp staff are organized, welcoming and helpful. With the passing of the owner and the retirement of the long-time camp director I am very hopeful that the new leadership will be able to maintain the high standards (and maybe update the cabins a bit?) while remaining true to the "let kids be kids" spirit that we have come to appreciate.

It was my first time at this particular camp and it brought back many memories of my camp days growing up. UCYC is a non-denominational, non-profit organization that is affiliated with the Independent Christian Churches in both Arizona and Nevada. UCYC (United Christian Youth Camp) started in the 1950s. UCYC has both summer and winter camps. They offer a number of activities for the kids. Activities include a zipline, swimming pool, basketball, paintball and archery. The campus is pretty large and includes a dining hall and main auditorium for larger gatherings. My only knock about this camp is the long walk from some of the cabins to the other side of camp where the dining hall is. Walking that far three times a day for food got old quick. But the food wasn't too bad for camp food. I am big fan of kids unplugging from their devices and going to camp to have fun and meet new friends. Some of my best times as a youth were at camp. It is a great place for kids to grow in their faith too. I had a blast being a leader and getting to know other leaders while I was here at UCYC.

There is a campfire ring in the middle of each village for evening get togethers and sing alongs. They have theme weeks, swimming, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, hiking, weekly dances, floor hockey, and tons of other daily classes depending on what's offerred. This transpired in May 2016 and while our visit was supposed to be the last few days of July 2016 they went ahead and cashed our hold deposit check of $500.00 in May 2016. They have not returned calls, emails or text and have jeopardized what was suppose to be a great experience for my youth football team into a tremendous let down. I have requested that Michele Hylton contact and she still has not done nor has anyone else, despite us leaving numerous messages at the listed number and emails. As a result I am now forced to take legal action against Whispering Pines Camp.
