You're feeding folks that have been rappelling, rock climbing, paddling, hiking and fishing all day!! We needed something more nutritious and appropriate for adults!!

There is a campfire ring in the middle of each village for evening get togethers and sing alongs. They have theme weeks, swimming, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, hiking, weekly dances, floor hockey, and tons of other daily classes depending on what's offerred. Everything looked clean, and the animals seemed active. There's actually a lot to do here, it's not just walking around looking at animals in cages. We did the African Bush Safari, and that was probably our favorite part. You get really close to giraffes, zebras, and antelope. We fed a giraffe, and that was such a cool experience. They also have different shows and activities throughout the day. We saw things like the Predator Feed (I think it's only on certain days), Tiger Splash, and some reptile exhibits. There's definitely enough to keep you busy for a few hours. And yes, we fed the tigers too. Not gonna lie, that was a little scary, but also really exciting. We missed the campout event last year and still kind of regret it. They're having it again this year on 5/16, and we might join this time.

Located near Payson, this camp is the perfect place to get away from the summer heat. My older children have attended several camps/programs at Camp Geronimo. They have enjoyed each visit. I am giving the camp 5 stars for the weather, as well as the views. Having picked them up from camps, I can attest to how beautiful the weather is during the summer. If attending BSA summer camp, there are a plethora of merit badge classes, adventures, day and night programs, swimming, boating, shooting sports, fishing and horses programs. Horse and fishing programs have extra fees. One of my kids loved the rock climbing wall. The summer camp programs are designed so that there is something for each Scout. There is a small shop. Shop is a mixture of Scout items, stickers, patches, snacks, and random goodies. This is also where leaders pick up advancement and awards earned at camp. Some of the facilities can use updating. Maybe it adds to the rustic charm. Geronimo is open to more than just Scouts BSA. Their 200 acres are available for rent by groups other than the Boy Scouts. Cabin and campsites are available. That is in addition to staff cabins. There is also a pool, amphitheater, creek, hiking trails, shower facilities, and health lodge. What a magical place Camp Avalon truly is!!…read more My husband and I stayed here during a spiritual retreat with some friends, and it was everything we could have imagined. Our host, Hoss, was so funny and accommodating! The campgrounds are absolutely beautiful, with firepits and sectioned campsites, and even actively blooming vineyards. They also have restroom facilities on site, as well as porta potties. Hoss told us about a portal that was on the property, and we had an amazing experience there. Can't wait to return, this is definitely our campsite of choice from now on!
