the on-site team--specifically LX and Tiegan--demonstrated outstanding
character, humility, and dedication. Even when completely overwhelmed,
they faced every setback with a smile, openly acknowledged their
limitations, and worked tirelessly to support the 140 attendees
on-site.
Unfortunately, the severe neglect by ownership and upper management
put those employees in an impossible position and critically degraded
my experience at this event.
From my firsthand observation, management's operational failures were
severe across multiple areas:
* Gross Understaffing & Compromised Facility Sanitation: Limiting
on-site coverage to a four-person crew for a 140-person group is
operational negligence. Because staff had to constantly pivot to keep
basic food preparation afloat, facility upkeep deteriorated rapidly.
The commercial kitchen, public restrooms, and main common areas were
poorly maintained and fell well below acceptable sanitary standards.
* Hazardous Facilities & Bio-Sanitation Failures (Nurses' Office): The
condition of the nurses' office represents an alarming health hazard.
The room had multiple spiders crawling across the walls. Furthermore,
following the removal of a sink, management attempted to mitigate
resulting sewer gas odors by simply placing a loose plastic bag over
an open drain directly behind a refrigerator--an unsanitary, makeshift
fix that poses a severe health and safety concern for any guest
accommodation facility.
* Deprived Basic Hospitality (Hydration & Coffee): Baseline amenities
such as accessible drinking water and standard coffee service became
persistent bottlenecks. Requesting simple beverage refreshes felt like
an imposition only because the crew was stretched to a breaking point.
It was heartbreaking to watch the staff visibly carry feelings of
defeat and embarrassment simply because ownership refused to provide
them with adequate hands to execute fundamental service standards.
* Severe Meal Deficits & Extended Program Disruption: The dining
service fell far short of professional group catering standards. Staff
were left without adequate food stocks and had to make emergency
off-site grocery runs just to produce makeshift meals. Because the
quantity and quality of food provided were unacceptable,
attendees--myself included--were forced to drive into town to secure
adequate meals. Given the 30-to-45-minute mountain drive each way,
people were gone for 60 to 120 minutes at a time, resulting in
extensive disruptions and substantial loss of scheduled conference
content. Forcing paying guests to abandon paid programming due to
unequipped kitchen operations is indefensible.
* Undisclosed Utility Deficits & Missing Resources: Ownership failed
to disclose prior to arrival that the Ramada and two additional
primary programming areas lacked electrical power. Compounding the
issue, the venue provided zero equipment or cabling to resolve the
shortfall. Attendees had to supply their own heavy-duty extension
cords, running power across the grounds from a cottage to the Ramada
just to make scheduled sessions functional.
* Disruptive Overbooking & Scheduling Mismanagement: Prioritizing
venue turnover over existing guest contracts, management scheduled
another incoming group to overlap with our departure window. Forcing
140 attendees to clear out personal belongings and pack at 6:00 AM so
an exhausted crew could scramble to clean for the next arrival was
unprofessional, uninviting, and disrespectful.
LX and Tiegan did everything humanly possible to salvage the stay,
absorbing mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion to shield guests
from executive-level failures. Ownership must recognize that relying
on the goodwill and burnout of front-line staff is not a viable
business model.
Until executive leadership invests in appropriate labor ratios, basic
health code compliance, rigorous sanitation schedules, reliable meal
provisioning, infrastructure transparency, and ethical booking
practices, I cannot personally recommend this facility for future
bookings.
