The first rooftop place in dtla that let me in the party with my proton pack. Not Lost But Found.

Went to the Halloween party on Friday dressed as a Ghostbuster. Security and the "man in charge" refused to let me in with my proton pack, saying "no backpacks." I explained it was part of my costume and even let them search it--only thing inside was my purse. Still, they told me to take it back to my car. I was parked 5 blocks away, it was night in downtown LA, right by one of the roughest parts near Skid Row. I guess gentlemen don't exist at Lost But found and chivalry is certainly dead. They wouldn't even let me leave the pack at the door by them. As a woman, by herself, who had already been harassed on my walk over by the local transient, that was irresponsible and unsafe. The lack of concern from the men at the door was honestly shocking. And to make it worse, once I finally got inside, I saw two men with backpacks. So apparently the "rule" only applies to certain people? I checked their website and social media afterward--no mention anywhere about a "no backpack" rule. Just a post saying costumes were "manitory." (Should've known what to expect when your own marketing doesn't even spellcheck--mandatory, maybe?) The DJ was great, but that's about the only good thing I can say. If you care about fairness or safety, think twice before going here. Do better, Lost But Found.

BEWARE from ordering from this certain bartender. She'll purposely charge you more than what it is. I ordered a tequila soda (no particular tequila) and two beers somehow it came out to $50. I then confirmed with the head person that works there once I realized what she did (which he agreed that she charged more), he said he was going to talk to her about it and see what he can do. He NEVER came back to sort it out and did absolutely nothing about it.

I stopped in because I saw a TikTok video. The DJ was really good. My drink and the hookah were okay. The staff was friendly.

Service was amazing, the drinks were perfectly crafted. Aeryus suggested a lemon drop with tequila (were tequila girlsss) it was great! The dj was good, the ambiance was chill and fun. Loved the huge disco ball. I was happy to know Aeryus was a Taurus like me. The owner offered us chairs, which we thought she was so sweet for it. Great experience over all!

First of all, let me say the obscure is great, I love the drinks and the atmosphere is amazing. I…read morewant to see all of the seasons and will always be a fan of the alcohol. But that being said ... the membership that you get for purchasing bottles doesn't meet expectations. I have spent upwards of $1000 in bottles over the last few months and that has given me a little bit of a membership. Well, we went in for their newest addition, the devil's quarter, and all was good until the end of the night. Well we're given a limit to drinks at the post show bar. Me, having a membership, thought oh maybe we can stay another hour and have a drink at our favorite place... nope apparently members are only allowed to have fun on Tuesday... so I guess my membership is irrelevant because it's not a Tuesday (when I usually work), not to mention the $500 in bottles I now have to walk around with to find another post show hangout because we were no longer allowed to stay. I would love to be able to spend more at the post show bar but the speakeasy part looses its value if it's limited to even its members.

We came to The Obscure for a friend's birthday and had such a fantastic night. This is definitely…read moremore of an experience than just going out for drinks. The atmosphere is immersive, theatrical, moody, and every nook and cranny of this place is beautifully detailed. Our group embraced the requested all-black dress code, and I was a little disappointed that some other guests didn't play along. When a place puts this much effort into creating a particular world, dressing the part really does make the experience more fun. The spirits themselves were excellent. We tasted vodka, whiskey, and rum, and all three were remarkably smooth, interesting, and clearly very high quality. I loved that the tasting was guided rather than just having drinks dropped in front of us. The storytelling and presentation made us pay attention to what we were actually tasting and gave the evening a nice sense of progression. We also happened to be there while comic artist Matt Harley of Marvel fame was sketching, which felt perfectly suited to the setting and made an already unusual night even more memorable. The space is gorgeous: candlelight, artwork, strange little details everywhere, dramatic lighting, beautiful glassware, and even the outdoor fire element. There's so much to look at that you feel like you're discovering something new every time you turn around. Our whole group LOVES Halloween, so this felt like the absolute perfect way to kick off spooky season. It has exactly the kind of dark, mysterious, slightly magical atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling cheesy or gimmicky. We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. We're already looking forward to going back and seeing what our new membership unlocks.

But this place is a vibe because it commits to its character. It knows who it is portraying to be, and never surrenders its identity based on opinion. Meaning that this place is pretty and pink and a tropical print mixture, and its owns its look. And if you ain't trying to get the vibe that keep on moving. This place is also nestled in the heart of the Arts district next to other bars that know their personality and go spheres-out to claim. So its aesthetic meets the orbiting bars not in style but commitment to its brand,. I went on a night where they were specifically showing a Love Island Episode. Why? Morbid curiosity? Guilty pleasure? A reason to go out. Yes and then some. The place was immediately recognizable by its hot pink door. The door promised a portal and it delivered. As soon as you enter the bar it hits with theme, with neon, with crowd dressed in posh attire. Like I said it was a vibe in pink. When I went to the bathroom the line was only female. The leader of the line was explaining that they could use the male bathroom since no males were there and cue my entrance. A few women were already inside and I waited until the line leader said it was ok to go in. I implict take away is that this night was women heavy. Like the shows fan base was mostly young chicks. Who knew? I have been to a few soccer games at bars in the recent past and of course there is a lot of expressions of enthusiasm and commentaries as the game progresses. The bar was set up in the same way. The tvs were there, showing the game, and I wondered if they were going to collectibely gasp and root as the episode continued I saw that they did. When an Islander said something impactful the crowd reacted. It was like seeing a game and enjoying it but here it was relationship dynamcis/drama unfold. And people were here for it. In fact, as I was waiting to order my drink, I heard customers behind me analyze the drama as sports fan analyze a game. And they were ciomparing different seasons. Apparently season six made the guy behind him feel uncomfortable because it was too freak. Either that season or this season had toe sucking. So there was history in this game that led to fan reactions and follow up insight. They were invovled fans. And this was the congregation for involved fans. I went to live the dream of a fan who would die for this and could not come. I eventually gave up on a drink the line was too long.

The ambiance has a perfect speakeasy vibe with its dim lighting and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to just hang out and grab a quality drink. The cocktail program here is absolutely phenomenal. I am pretty picky when it comes to whiskey, and since Manhattans are my absolute favorite, my expectations were high. They mixed an incredible Manhattan that was perfectly balanced with the right sweet vermouth, and their Old Fashioneds are crafted with an attention to detail that really lets the spirits shine through. We also ordered a few Paper Planes, and they were dangerously good, hitting that perfect sweet and sour note that makes you want to immediately order another round. It is not just the incredible drinks that make this place stand out, but the exceptional service from the bartenders. They are super knowledgeable and treat craft cocktail making like a true art form, all while keeping the vibe laid-back and welcoming.
