    Tlacoyos

There are a lot of tacos trucks in town but this one stands out. They have some menu items that I haven't seen anywhere else. They're not hard to find and they open in the evenings. Not too sure how late the stay open. They have a nice little set up to eat at. The tacos were delicious and my kids loved their quesadillas. The rice and beans were hot and had flavor. I tried the Tlacoyos and was not disappointed. I'll come here again for sure This is a post update... I recently got their pastor and queso torta and seriously theeeee best Pastor I've had. So much flavor. Huge torta. I am in love.

Ok so I decided to try La Torta Cubana and I have to say I was disappointed. I am not a fan it wasn't very good to me. Some people may enjoy it but I'm not one of them. I could knock a star off this place but I'm not cause the tacos are still very good and I enjoy them.

Sincronizada --- similar to a quesadilla, but made with ham and has avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and jalepenos inside. Pretty good!

It has to be said, the number of places to get tacos in Bakersfield is more than plentiful -- you can find trucks every few blocks here. If you're looking for solid quesadillas though, I'd recommend checking out this truck. It's located at the HCG church parking lot and wait time is not too bad. I'm not gonna lie, I haven't tried the tacos here. And this is because I can't pry myself away from their quesadillas. One of my go-to late night spots when I'm looking for a quick bite before sleeping, the quesadillas have a nice crunch and the meat/cheese inside are hot and creamy. It's everything you'd expect and want out of a quesadilla... I easily wolf these down in minutes. They also serve something called sincronizada here (see image) --- I've never had it anywhere else. It's like a quesadilla, but its classically served with ham and includes lettuce, jalepenos and tomatoes. The fresh veggies add some texture and variety with each bite; I enjoy it as an alternative to quesadillas. Insider secret --- ask for their avocado sauce, which is not left outside like the other condiments. It has a nice spicy kick to it and I slather it on everything. I always ask for two! Be sure to check their closing time if you plan on going late, as they vary by day... there are few things sadder than seeing a taco truck pull away as you're rounding the corner. :(

best street tacos I've had Bakersfield. The price is always right and the food always has the taste of home

The quality of these tacos is undeniable, LETS GET REAL!! We alllllll love a good taco; but these aren't just good, they're amazing tacos. My usual order is two carnitas tacos no matter where i decide to eat them.. i won't pin these against other tacos in order to refrain from staring one is better than the other. But in most cases the tacos u have had from other locations tend to be dry as if they are sitting in a warming plate all day waiting to be served. That's a yuck from me however I ordered two carnitas from this location and of course with both the red and green sauce and all the toppings. I really must admit, This is some of the most flavorful moist carnitas I have ever had in my life. If you haven't, you should def locate this truck on Ming and stine across from Olive Garden in the church parking lot. enjoy, and thank me later

What a hidden Gem in the Taco scene, you could eat it plain and still be enraptured with how simply good these are. The Salsa is Spicy but damn good!

Was not disappointed with this taco truck ... the food was delicious, tasty and hot. The drinks were also good... will definitely be back.

WOW LET ME TEL YOU WOW! My wife and I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a good taco truck and let me tell you, WE'VE FOUND IT. You will not be disappointed, my wife had the torta cubana and I had a carnitas burrito. The food tastes Iike it was made right in your kitchen. We will definitely be coming back very SOON!

This is the best place I've found for tortas!!!! I've had the carne asada and the carnitas and they're both delicious. Definitely worth the money. They are in the parking lot of the church almost every evening and I usually see them there til 10pm.

They load you up with meat that are all cleverly seasoned and prepared. Asada has smokey taste to it that I think some places lack. Pastor has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy . Buche is savory and doesn't feel like you're even eating offal. Everything is loaded up! The loaded potato has about a 1/2" lb of meat or more. The quesadillas are plump! Meat almost falls out. Sauces and other accompaniments are self serve and you can get as much as you want. Their chipotle salsa is spicy but damn is it good. They even have spicy onions that I never see. While you wait for your meal and watch the taquero at work, they have beans, tostadas, nopal, grilled onions and jalapenos all just sitting there FOR FREE. They also have some tiny potatoes soaking in the meat juices if you're lucky enough that they haven't run out (also for free!). The experience is just so customer forward and this is a gem that I hope expands even more. They have deals every week from buy one get one tortas, $1 tacos at a certain day at each location. It's often they have a line so consider yourself blessed if there isn't.

Eventually, she asked me about order 31 and repeated the tacos that were in it. I told her those weren't mine because that's not what I thought I ordered, so she offered to remake the food. I then waited another 20 minutes for the remake. When she finally handed me the order, my drink was missing even though I paid for one. She went back to check the ticket and realized she had grabbed the wrong order entirely. At that point, somehow the original order 31 that had been sitting on the counter the whole time magically turned out to actually be my order after all. So my food had apparently been sitting there getting cold while I waited another 20 minutes for a remake that shouldn't have even happened. The entire situation was disorganized, confusing, and handled very poorly.

The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back!

But on a recommendation from colleagues, I was told to make the trip to the central part of town and check out Birria Bros. I'm a convert: It's the best overall place I've had in town. Their menus is simple and laconic without a lot of options: You pick from taco, burrito, quesadilla, and flautas and then you pick the meat: birria, al pastor, or carne. No craziness or Flamin' Hot anything. This is my kind of establishment already. The service is no-frills: It's an iPad with a cashier, and you get one of those pager things that buzz/sound when your food is ready. And then your food gets prepared in the truck and served. This is all anyone needs in life. I enjoy their quesotacos. They're a bargain and a great size at that. But my favorite are the flautas: They're cruchy, creamy, and cheesy. The combos are good too because the rice and beans are tasty. Their orange-colored salsa is smoky but absolutely spicy - definitely use with caution but entirely worth the burn. I think the best thing about BB is the value, as you get a great product for what you pay. I wish they'd open a location on the Southwest.
