    Poisoned shrimp

Stay away from this place. Disgusting Fosforera. Old, dark and recycled shrimp. Chewy seafood. Poisoned fish! The food is not fresh. This restaurant seems to be a nostalgic idea of tourists from Los Roques Island created by people in need of money and without any knowledge or passion for cooking. Aléjense de este lugar. Asquerosa Fosforera! Camarones viejos, oscuros y reciclados. Mariscos chiclosos. El pescado intoxicado! La comida no es fresca. Este restaurant parece ser una idea nostálgica de turistas de La Isla de Los Roques inventado por personas necesitadas de dinero y sin conocimiento ni pasión alguna por la cocina.

    Desayuno Colombiano

A very nice little neighborhood restaurant of Venezuelan cuisine with a few traditional Colombian dishes as well. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and it's kept clean and tidy throughout. The foods is delicious; I had the Desayuno Colombiano, which includes the typical calentado (a mixture of rice and beans), scrambled eggs, steak, chicharron (fried pork skin and meat), and arepa - and yes, it was wonderfully tasty.

All but one thing was great, the Pabellón Criollo had a fundamental off flavor. The meat tasted old and decomposing. I did enjoy the beans, maduros, Chicharron, arroz, and eggs. But that meat, didn't even take another bite. To the trash.

Los Roques Gourmet was complete surprise to me. I had known it was named after a gorgeous island like archipelago of Venezuela and that it specialized in Venezuelan and Colombian foods. But what I didn't know is that it actually was in fact a Venezuelan restaurant void of anything in English including menus. But to my luck I was the guest of my Venezuelan friends so I was in good hands and treated to a most adventuresome meal that included not only the traditional foods of Venezuela but of Colombia as well. I had some really great grilled fish that surprisingly enough was of a Spanish mackerel that Los Roques had actually gone to the trouble of importing from Venezuela. I also had the heavy corn bread which had an excellent deep corn flavor and some really flavorful pulled beef as a part of their Desayuno Colombiano plate of clentado, arepa, chicharron and carne a la parrillo with huevo perico. Everything I had was unique to me but I have to say I would have been doomed without the assistance of my good Venezuelan friends. As a caveat I might say that even if one can speak Spanish, they too may have a problem if they aren't knowledgeable of the particular foods of Venezuela and Colombia. Hence I can understand some of the One Stars as this is really a very specialized place not for everyone.

All I have to say is wow, the food came out quick and fresh. It was very nice that they were able to accommodate such a big party so well. I have to applaud them because this can be very tricky to navigate at some restaurants. The food was all very fresh and delicious! The presentation was great for each plate. The bandeja paisa was filled with different items to choose from and the chicken breast with fries is brought out steaming hot. The drinks were great, the piña colada was absolute perfect. The espresso martini was awesome, you can really taste the coffee in it. I love how they make a little spider web design on the drink, you can tell that they take their time to make the experience a nice one. We had multiple servers and I didn't catch their names but they were all wonderful. We came on a Friday night and the vibes were so fun, they had live music throughout the entire time we were there. I would definitely recommend you check this spot out.

Absolutely Delicious & Beautifully Presented!…read more My family and I came in for bandeja paisa, and it was outstanding from start to finish. We had the option of choosing chicken, beef, or pork -- so of course we tried all three -- and every single plate was delicious. The presentation was gorgeous, the portions were generous, and the flavors were exactly what you hope for in authentic Colombian comfort food. To make it even better, pairing the meal with an ice‑cold Manzana Postobón and a fresh mango lemonade was perfection. The drinks alone are worth coming back for. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel welcoming and relaxed. The restaurant itself is decorated in the cutest way, with fresh Colombian roses displayed on the bar area -- such a thoughtful touch that adds to the charm. Before you sit down, you can even pick out empanadas from the case, which is such a fun and unique option. Definitely grab a few -- they're fantastic. Overall, this place is a gem. Unfortunately, what followed was a surprisingly disappointing experience -- and one that became harder to justify with every course. The service was slow and disorganized, our sangrias had to be returned, and the mixed ceviche was a very small portion with mostly tiny shrimp and very little fish. Then came the $110 parrillada. We ordered the meat medium, but much of it arrived overcooked and dry. Served on a hot platter, it continued cooking at the table. To make matters worse, it had taken nearly an hour to arrive, so sending it back simply wasn't an option we were willing to endure. The sides -- yuca, tostones, and fries -- were all underwhelming, and the sauces were so limited that we had to ask for more. Water wasn't replenished, and even the basic table service felt neglected. We eventually spoke with the manager, hoping for some acknowledgment of the experience. Instead, we were essentially told that we should have complained sooner. We explained that after waiting nearly an hour for our food, we weren't prepared to wait another hour for a replacement. We were offered complimentary desserts, but unfortunately, the churros were rubbery and seemed reheated, while the tres leches was just average. And then came the bill: nearly $200 for three people -- for lunch. Not dinner. Lunch. At that price, you expect the food, service, and overall experience to feel exceptional. Unfortunately, ours didn't come close. We didn't leave upset because the restaurant was expensive; we left disappointed because the experience simply didn't justify what we paid. We went in with high expectations and left feeling that Mordisco was not worth the price. Sadly, we won't be returning.
