Got a delicious breakfast burrito. Was a bit tough to spot the small spot with minimal signage, but my order was ready and HOT on arrival.

I don't review many places, but I felt the need to with this place. First off let me say, I'm from Texas, so I've always been a Tex-mex snob. I have always said I won't eat Mexican food unless they have queso dip(it's a Texas thing). I regularly hated on Mexican food here and now I'm realizing how ridiculous I was. This place and one other in Tracy have officially converted me from my dumb "I'll only eat Tex-mex" mentality. I've eaten at this place 3 times this week. Their pastor street tacos are the best tacos I've ever had and only $2.75 a taco! You can't beat that price. This is my new favorite spot in town. I should note though their salsa is hot so if you don't like that much heat ask for it on the side. read more

We love love love the food! The micheladas are a little spicy for my taste but the tortas and menudo are yummy! The burritos are great as well! Not sure if I'd order the shrimp omelette again though lol Prepare to wait for a long time as they have very limited seating! read more

First time I visited Potros the food was pretty good, I ordered a shrimp cocktail, Steak Fajitas. Well the 2nd time we visited what a difference in taste, super disappointed!!! Lacked taste, and had to be old meat for the carne asada burrito. We barely touched our food, it was too harsh to finish. I have had other family members go back and same thing, they had a horrible experience with the Birria, it was old!!! They sent back their order. Just writing this gives me the taste of the old carne asada. I heard breakfast is pretty good, but I won't give it a chance. Unfortunately, Tracy still doesn't have a good Mexican Food Restaurant. read more

DELICIOUS!! Hubby and I stopped here to break our fast. He had a chimichanga- it was crispy and light. He also had a carne taco which was flavorful. I had veggie fajitas. No dairy, no meat or seafood. It can with beans and rice which were delicious and not dry. The fajita mix was huge and the mushrooms were cooked just right, I had a lot to take home. The salsa was so good! This place had a lot of flavor in every meal. Our server was very friendly. We will definitely be back! I've visited Los Potros 2x now and learned the secret for ordering super burritos (ask for sour cream and guacamole on the side or you'll get a surprise Mojave style "wet" burrito because they put these ingredients on top of the outside of their super burritos). Aside from that, I've tried both the carnitas and chile verde super burritos, both were good but after learning this tip (1st order was a "wet" carne asada and 2nd order was a sc/guac on the side chile verde burrito) I give the Chile verde super burrito 5 stars!! Will definitely be a repeat customer from Los Potros. The first burrito I ever tried there was the carnitas; the meat was really good but unfortunately the burrito was covered in way too much sour cream and guac for my liking. read more

Pros: - The burritos that contained meat were fairly large. - Rice and beans tasted fresh. - Female worker smiled and was very nice. - Indoor restaurant (no outdoor "walk-up" style pickup area, which was good). Cons: - Inconvenient location. - When paying for food, the loud music made it difficult to communicate with the worker. - Ends of burritos were tough; tortilla seemed super thin. - Rice and beans burrito: 75% overmixed beans, 25% rice. - Asada burrito: 60% overmixed beans, 20% rice, 20% meat. - Beans seemed "whipped;" bean fragments were rare. - Barely seasoned meat was chopped into tiny pieces, almost like ground beef. - Food temperature was barely warm compared to pick-up food of competitors. Taste of food only: Family member 1, asada burrito: 7 Family member 2, asada burrito: 4 Family member 3, rice & beans burrito: 7 Bottom line, taste was OK, but there are no plans to return. read more

This is a good restaurant for barbacoa. I live 450 miles away from Tracy but my husband has family there so when we are in the city we stop here to have Barbacoa for breakfast. It's good and their home made flour tortillas are the best. read more

In the spirit of supporting local and trying local and craving Mexican food I pulled up my trusty yelp and Los Potros popped up at the top of the list. I've often driven past here to see long lines of waiting customers and have seen people post and talk about it so finally decided that despite the bars on the windows and the exterior that needs a bit of touch up we would go try this restaurant. When we went in there was a wait ...always a good sign but the staff at this restaurant is quick, efficient and super friendly so tables turn in a timely manner. The restaurant itself is a bit outdated but it gives it that hometown feel but since it's worked for them so far so I doubt they feel the need to change much. I did find it odd that there are only tables for 4 so no matter if you're a large party or small party you get a nice full sized table. The food: we started with chips and salsa and it was quite delicious ...you could tell the salsa was fresh and possibly made on site. There were tons of chips stored on top of the cooler so they continue to bring out chips and salsa as you consume them ...perfect appetizer with some cold beer. I wanted to try as many things as I could on one visit so I ordered multiple tacos and the camarones a la diabla. Compared to some of the other places I've eaten at the shrimp here was a bit smaller however it was really well made, the sauce had a hint of sweetness to it that I couldn't place in the Diabla sauce. I got this with a healthy side of rice and salad with some very hot corn tortillas. The tacos were amazing and for my next visit might just be my meal - the fish taco was deep fried served with a healthy amount of lettuce and salsa. The shrimp taco while I liked I didn't love as much as the fish. Overall this is a local spot to try - great service - delicious food - amazing salsa and a must visit! read more

My favorite place to get burritos. Reason for this they are a large size for what you are paying for, both the super and not. I usually get the shredded chicken, I have had both carnitas and the pork and meat ratio to everything else is good. My main reason for why it is favorite is because the beans used is more of a refired beans then a whole bean or a black bean. They also add sour cream and more cheese this aligns perfectly with my personal taste. read more

I did an order and my only request for my burrito was for light sour cream and they put it all over my burrito so I had to eat it with a fork and the entire thing was covered in sour cream. Not cool. read more

I get the tacos de pescado every time so my menu experience is limited (hence 4 stars) but the environment is great parking is easy (on gravel) and they set quick with the food absolutely authentic I even get to practice my Spanish with some of the employees. Absolutely friendly place and I will continue to there. If you're cool we can have a meal and talk philosophy. read more

Went here today based on other yelp reviews, and im glad i did. This place is really good. I got a regular famoso, flavors were great, rice beans and Sauce were yummy. The woman working seemed attentive, i got my order to go but i can tell they make sure customers are satisfied. I would deffinetly recomend this place and i will deffinetly be back for more. 3 stars mainly because I did enjoy the food BUT.. When I eat food, I'd like the main course to be delicious without me having to rely on the sauce.. I had smother my Burrito with the sauce they gave me and my husband needed more of the green sauce with his wet burrito.. This is the best Mexican food I've had in Tracy! I had menudo last week & it was amazing. Their corn tortillas taste amazing & home made. I love their tamales & the sauce on them is so delicious. My husband tried the chicken mole & again, the sauce was so good! The only thing I have tried here & didn't like was the tripe tacos, the tripe was burnt to a crisp. This was my first time going there the portions for the wet burrito and super burrito were extremely large not that I'm complaining the food was good very authentic and seasoned very well.The staff was friendly and the establishment was clean. Came by for the first time today, my husband had been raving about their tacos and insisted I had to try this place. I ordered the super burrito with thwir barbacoa which is traditionally a shredded beef but instead I got what looked like old carne asada in barbacoa sauce. So I asked the waitress if perhaps they gave me someone else's order, she went to the kitchen and they said that was barbacoa. Fortunately for.me I had my husband's barbacoa taco to compare my protein to, and those were undeniably different meats. Seemed to me that they tried to dress up older meats into a burrito assuming the customer wasn't going to notice through the thick layer of rice and beans. So in other words, I was not pleased and for that reason I would not recommend Gave it 2 stars because service was attentive and chips where fresh. read more

This place can be kinda hard to find but it's there. It's a lil hole in the wall joint. Super busy all the time. There are about 8 tables in there. Alll the food there is amazing - menudo is serve on the weekends. They have great chilaquiles and breakfast burritos. The price is amazing for the amount of food you get. And best part is the chips and salsa that they give you when you get seated! :D love this place read more
